ARDEN’S POV

My eyes narrowed slightly before I answered the call.

“Arden.”

Brianna's voice rang through the phone.

“How are you doing?” I asked.

“I’m good. You?”

“Fine.”

There was a brief silence.

“Why are you sounding so cold?” she asked. I could hear a hint of sadness in her voice. “Are you still pissed at me?”

“No, I’m not.”

“Really?”

“Hmm.”

Another silence followed.

Then she said the words that should have affected me the way they always had.

“I love you, Arden.”

I stared ahead.

Nothing.

  • Vows Written In Dust    CHAPTER 55

TATUM’S POVI woke up to the buzzing of my phone on the table next to me. When I checked the screen, I saw that it was Xavier calling. Before answering, I checked the time, hoping I wasn't late. Thankfully, I still had about an hour left.I picked up the phone and pressed it against my ear.“Still sleeping?” His voice came through.“Not anymore,” I mumbled.“Vincent couldn't get through to you. He wants you to come in soon. Some people want to meet you,” he said.My eyes shot open.“Who?” My voice was suddenly much clearer.“Who knows?” he chuckled.I bolted out of bed and headed straight for the shower. After a while, I met Xavier downstairs by the car. He was drinking coffee.“Morning,” he said, offering me a cup.I took it and got into the car.Xavier drove along the streets while I sat impatiently, waiting for us to arrive. Eventually, I turned to look at him.“Are you being slow on purpose?” I asked.“It's how I drive—with caution,” he replied.Obviously, he was doing it just to

TATUM’S POVAfter getting dressed, I stood in front of the mirror. The clothes were a perfect fit.“The CEO told me about your concept, so I prepared this,” Lia said, taking out a box.I took it from her and opened it.A veil.I held it up and examined it. It was beautiful and made of high-quality material.“Thank you, Lia. I love it,” I said.“We should head to the shoot now,” she said before walking ahead.I immediately followed her.We walked down the hallway, the short dress I wore riding up my legs with every step. My hair bounced against my shoulders as I walked. On the way, I ran into Lena again. She had changed and was heading in the same direction as me.Inside the elevator, Lena spoke.“You look good,” she said.I smiled.“You too,” I replied simply.“Are you a mystery model? What’s with the veil?” she asked.Instinctively, my grip tightened around the veil.“Mystery models don’t go that far in this industry,” she continued. “It’s like you’re ashamed of your beauty. Are you?

  • Vows Written In Dust    Chapter 53

Tatum’s POVI got dressed early the next morning for my debut shoot at Vincent’s company.Xavier was waiting downstairs while I tried to look my best, glancing at the mirror every second.I knew little about modelling, but I knew Amelia always had a certain look on her face whenever she modelled.I snapped out of my thoughts when Xavier called out to me.“Are you going to take forever?” he asked.“A minute.” I hung up, grabbed my bag, and bolted out of the house. We were on our way to the company when I started practising my smile in the mirror.“What are you even doing?” he asked.“Trying not to look like a freaking potato in front of the cameras,” I said.He scoffed.“You’re crazy.” He laughed.“Whatever.” I huffed. “You won’t be able to call me crazy once you start seeing me on every billboard,” I bragged.“Is this you bragging about fame when you haven’t even stood in front of a single camera?” he asked, his tone laced with mockery. My smile disappeared, and I turned my head towa

  • Vows Written In Dust    Chapter 52

TATUM'S POVAfter signing the contract, I felt like a different person. For the first time in what felt like forever, I felt alive again. It wasn't as though all my problems had suddenly disappeared. They hadn't. The memories were still there, the pain was still there, and so was the part of me that still missed everything I'd lost. But somehow, for the first time, I felt like I was finally taking a step forward instead of constantly looking behind me.The drive back home was surprisingly fun. Xavier kept me entertained with his endless conversations, just like he always did. Somehow, he had a way of making even the most ordinary moments feel less lonely. As soon as I got home, I went straight to my room and called Amelia. It rang a few times before she finally answered."Hello?" Her groggy voice came through the phone."Hey, are you asleep?" I asked."Check the time."I glanced at the clock beside my bed.Midnight.In LA."Shit. I'm sorry. I didn't check the time.""It's fine." She y

DAMIEN'S POVAfter getting Amelia angry because of Arden, my mind wouldn't rest.I kept sending her messages and tried calling several times, but she didn't answer or reply to any of them.Should I have just stayed out of it?The question kept bothering me.I had been this close to finally getting somewhere with Amelia, and helping Arden had somehow dragged me right back to the beginning.Honestly, I was pissed. But it was Arden. He hardly ever asked anyone for help, and when he did, it meant he was genuinely desperate. So I couldn't exactly ignore him.Still, I wasn't going to let Amelia stay angry with me.I decided to go back to her apartment. On my way there, I stopped to get her a bouquet of flowers and her favorite pastry. If this didn't work, I was officially out of ideas. When I arrived, I pressed the doorbell.“Coming,” she called from inside.A few seconds later, the door opened. The moment she saw me, her eyebrows furrowed.“Why are you here?”“I’m sorry, princess.” I held

ARDEN’S POV I ignored her screaming the entire drive until I finally pulled over in front of a restaurant. She was fierce. Loud. Annoying. Definitely not my type. I had actually felt relieved when she said she wasn’t interested in the marriage either. That should have made things easier.

  • Vows Written In Dust    Chapter 3

TATUM’S POV Could this day get any worse? First, the ridiculous engagement announcement — the one that was taken down almost immediately. Definitely Arden’s doing. He would never allow his girlfriend to lose face over an arranged marriage, so he had the news pulled before it could go viral. F
