LOGIN****Lana's POV****
Ms Paltz legs were short but boy did they move so fast, I followed her across the large hallways of the mansion out towards the main house. The houses looked like one I'd usually seen in movies and now I was getting a job here? Unbelievable. We finally made it to a large room with double doors, she opened it gesturing for me to go in. “Go in and make yourself comfortable, Mr Tristan will be with you shortly.” “Thanks.” I said striding in slowly, the minute she jammed the doors shut I completely lost it. This place was large as hell, from the looks it looked like a whole study with lots of books on towering shelves, a chandelier hung on every area of the room illuminating the room in soft gold lights. I collapsed on the couch and sank in chuckling to myself, it was deep and soft as fuck almost swallowing me up. The door handle twisting alerting me that someone was coming in, I composed myself sitting up on the chair. Mr Tristan walked in, he now wore a white shirt on black pants, I'm sorry but I must say he is one fine old man, so young for his age. The only thing that stood out were his gray beards, everything else felt fit. His soft skin, gray eyes, abs and long strides, he looked so young. He walked towards where I sat and sat across from me, crossing his legs. “So… Ms Lana, right?” “Yes sir.” “Thanks for what you did this morning, you saved my life and I owe you alot.” I smiled lightly. “It’s what I enjoy doing sir, I hope you're completely fine now though?” “Well,” he said, examining himself. “I look fit, don't I?” I bit my lip. Yeah you do…Oh Lana, get a grip. “My breakdown was caused by stress, I'd be put on constant check-up and be monitored by my doctor…” “Oh…is that what I'm also here for…?” “Oh no no no, your job is different, actually… you're here to attend to my young nephew, he's crippled, nothing serious and he should start walking soon if taken proper care of.” Oh, poor boy, must be really tough on him at that young age. “No problem sir, I'll do my best to ensure his speedy recovery.” He smiled. “Here.” He extended a file to me. “Is a properly prepared agreement prepared by my lawyer, it includes everything you need to know about your job description and benefits.” I took it from him squinting through the file. — Live-in Nurse — A private luxury suite — All meals — Full access to household facilities — Transportation as required — A complete designer wardrobe suitable for the household and public appearances — Grooming and styling support when required — $20, 000 “Twenty thousand dollars?” The words slipped out before I could hold it in. Mr Tristan smiled lightly. “Yes, Lana but considering how you came through exceptionally, I'll be adding an additional advance of $10,000 this month , once you sign the papers and accept this job. “But why me?” I asked, my eyes getting all teary. “We considered hiring someone from the firms we usually get our nurses from but… Kylian needs true emotional care… so we need someone who can connect with him. That's why you're the perfect fit for this job.” “Mr Tristan, I can't thank you enough, you just saved a soul by hiring me tonight, thank you.” He nodded. “It's okay, but you need to promise one thing, not revealing anything you find in this mansion.” I motioned to my lips immediately, pretending to zip it up. “My lips are sealed, I promise I'll keep everything confidential.” Just then the door bell rang. “Come in, Kylian.” The doors swung open and I was expecting a little boy in a wheel chair to reel in but no, a full grown man identical to Mr Tristan reeled in. “Uncle,” “Kylian, you're right on time, meeting your private nurse who would be attending to you till you fully recover.” He turned to me. “Hi,” I said, waving slightly. “I told you, uncle Kylian, I didn't need a private nurse, I can recover on my own, besides is this the best you can do? She looks more like a babysitter than a private nurse.” Uhm, excuse you? I shook my head slightly, the insults I had to endure because I wore this damn suit. “Oh come on, Kylian, cut her some slack, she's here to stay and that's final. Lana, you can sign the documents at your earliest convenience, go through the contract clause and if you're in sign it and be back here on Monday morning.” “I’m in, I agree to take the job.” I said almost immediately. Kylian shook his head at how pathetic I must look right now but I didn't care, I needed the advance for my father's treatment and didn't care what I had to sign right now. Legally of course. I placed the document on the desk, signing it with slightly shaky hands. “Alright… Ms Lana, let me have your cash app.” My heart raced, was this for real, I gave him real quick and my eyes almost bulged out when I saw the credit alert. “Thank you sir. Thank you.” I bowed again, my eyes almost teary. “No problem, you can take your leave, my driver will get you home safely, make sure to be back here on Monday fully ready.” “Thank you,” I grinned, walking out of the room trying to control the happiness bottling up inside me, Kylian's eyes followed me and I swear I almost tripped. ******* I ran to the first place that came to mind, the hospital. Straight to the doctors office the cash I had withdrawn hugged tight in my suit, I didn't care that everyone was watching, all I needed to do was save my dad. “Lana, what are you doing here?” Kayla caught me as I almost bolted into the doctor's office. “I got a job, Kayla, I got an advance for my dad's treatment!” I squealed. “For real?” She joined me in squealing and twirling, we quickly adjusted ourselves not minding the stares. “I got this crazy job offer and I start on Monday, the pay is huge and I get to live in, no rent to worry about, no paying for meals…” “Woah woah, Lana, that's crazy, that's awesome!” “Right now…I'm off to pay the advance for my dad's treatment, I'll tell you more about it during the weekend, I've got no time.” “Sure sure, go on.” She urged me. I hugged her tight making my way into the doctor's office, I slammed the money on his desk and said almost short of breath. “Start working on my Dad.”****Lana's POV****The mansion was a little too quiet and calm these past few days.Kylian wasn't grumpy or asking me to do anything out of the ordinary. He was just a little too quiet and unpleasant, I did his usual rounds of check up without asking questions. He didn't want to be disturbed either so I just went there in the morning and in the evening, no words exchanged, no yelling or anything else.It felt weird but I appreciated his silence.Whatever Finn must have told him, must have shaken him to the bones because he was too stunned to do anything else.Finn on the other hand hadn't come in since the day we last met at the court.I was just as surprised to see him the morning after I had just examined Kylian, he was on his way to his guest room when I saw him.“Erm… Mr Finn?” I called out to him.He paused at his door then turned to me, a bright smile washing over his face.“Hey…. Pumpkin… how are you doing? Any troubles with you know who…” he teased.“None really.” I replied to
****Lana's POV****Kylian still had on his innocent little smile, though I couldn't trust it one bit, why did he have to make me look for him and why was he even here in the first place."I see you're having fun..." I said coolly walking to his side.He shrugged. "Even though I'm a bit disabled, I do wish I could play a bit of tennis, I miss it so much" he cowered, sighing sadly. What did he expect me to say or think, I just kept mute."I used to play tennis a whole lot, just spending hours of my free time here till I could no longer feel my arms."He sighed, his eyes drifting up as he got lost in memories.Maybe he wasn't so bad, maybe he was just grumpy because he misses Nerisse, how I wish she'd have a change of heart and be back in a jiffy, maybe he'd be more pleasant.I sighed calmly, walking over to his side. "You can still walk again, I'll have you treated and you'll be on your feet in no time."He shook his head. "Nah, I'm too scared of walking again, it's way too scary now,
****Lana's POV****Seeing Kylian's alarm flicker so abruptly and repeatedly sent my heart racing into a frenzy. I thought something terrible had happened to him, like he'd fallen off his bed... or at least that he genuinely needed my help. But the moment that devilish smirk tugged at the corner of his lips, I became certain I was in for a lot of trouble tonight.I had pushed open his door without knocking and rushed straight to his side."What is wrong, Mr. Kylian? Is everything okay?" I asked, the fear still lingering in my eyes.He smirked, then shrugged casually."Oh, there's a lot wrong, Ms. Lana. You're my private nurse, right? That means you have to attend to my urgent needs."I nodded, slightly confused."Well... I need you to get me a glass of water. I'm thirsty."I heaved a sigh of relief."Only that?" I asked, just to be sure."Yes," he replied, smiling from ear to ear."Alright. I'll be back in a minute."He ignored me completely.I hurried downstairs to the kitchen, grabbe
Lana's POVThere were exactly three ways this evening could end.First, I lied and betrayed my profession.Second, I told the truth and got fired.Third, I fainted dramatically and postponed everyone's problems until tomorrow.Personally, option three sounded incredibly attractive.Tristan had already walked into the room, patting Kylian's shoulder and keeping up their dramatic uncle-nephew banter while my head made crazy calculations."So, Lana, how are you enjoying your stay here and your job as Kylian's private nurse?"I jerked slightly, glancing from Tristan to Kylian, who still had that devilish smirk playing on the corner of his lips."One word," I muttered. "Shocking.""Oh wow." Tristan let out a soft, hoarse laugh. "That's to be expected, but hopefully you can handle shocking, right?"Wasn't it funny how they all expected me to handle Kylian's craziness? Why wasn't anyone yelling at this overgrown adult? Why was it my job to deal with his grumpiness? Then again... I was gettin
Lana's POV I skipped down the hallway like a kid who'd just been given ice cream, the biggest grin plastered across my face. Probation? I scoffed. That sounded more like a promotion to me. I still had my job—for the meantime. My salary was safe, and my dad's treatment wouldn't stop. Well, at least for now. Somewhere in his room right now, Kylian was probably regretting every life decision that had led him to making such an offer. I was probably the world's first happiest probationary nurse... ...and the last one to ever exist. Now I only had two problems on my hands. Successfully examine Kylian. And somehow beat Uncle Tristan's intelligence without getting myself into even bigger trouble. My first official check-up with Kylian was scheduled for 6 p.m., and I was more than ready to examine him. I was curious. What exactly was that grumpy man hiding? Was he already getting better... ...or was he simply terrified of the possibility of getting better? And why.
Lana's POV Kylian still had his hand covering my lips as we practically stared into each other's souls. Then, all of a sudden, he smiled devilishly before letting his hand drop. I watched my own breath get caught. I could barely breathe and was practically sitting on this man's lap! "What was that for?" I snapped, springing up in frustration. "What?" he asked, raising an eyebrow. "Is this what you do? Make your nurses uncomfortable by flirting with them? That's so low of you." I pressed on, completely frustrated with his tactics. "Flirting?" He frowned. "Why would I flirt with you—or any nurse in particular, Lana?" "You grabbed me, pulled me onto your lap, and then what was it you said? I need you? Why would you make a statement like that, Mr. Kylian?" He burst into laughter. The harder he laughed, the more foolish I felt. He grabbed me, pulled me to himself, told me he needed me... and now he had the guts to laugh? I scoffed, folding my arms across my chest.
****Lana’s POV****The Rhys mansion looked even bigger in the daylight and as soon as I stepped in with my small bag dragging behind me I felt like I had walked into another world.Ms. Paltz stood by the entrance already waiting for me, her chubby face calm and smug as always, like she had been exp
****Lana's POV****“He's awake?” someone from the crowd said, pointing at the man whose eyes were now wide open, staring at me weakly.“Boss!” His driver flew toward him, pushing me off. I fell to the ground, completely covered in dust. “You're awake, boss.”I picked myself up, dusting off my overs
****Lana's POV****I had no suit—I had no freaking suit!I stared down at the mess I had made of my tiny apartment in my aimless attempt to find a suitable suit I could wear for my interview. But I found nothing appropriate, most of my old suits were worn out and begging me for mercy already. The i
****Lana's POV****I stood there in the middle of it all, as the world spinned around me in circles. Mr Lance's short fingers pointing at me accusingly in the boardroom while he clutched his bandaged head with one hand."This girl, she's a psycho, she broke my head with a vase and even slapped me!"
