TWO MONTHS LATER
Andrew looked sadly at the still unconscious Lana. Two months after the accident Patricia committed, his girlfriend remained inside the hospital. In the ICU where he waits for the return of the woman he loves, every day.At the thought, he angrily clasped his fist.Patricia is currently in jail, and he has no plans to drop the lawsuit against her. She hurt Lana and it was only right that she pays for the wrong she did to the woman he was going to marry."Sweetheart, come back, Andrea and I really miss you," he whispered while still staring at the glass wall of the ICU.He did not know if this was his karma for all the mistakes he had made before. If only he was the one suffering, that's okay. But because of him, Lana also suffered. And he can't accept that thing. He knew that in Lana's condition now there was no definite time when she is going to wake up. At the thought, the sigh he let out was heavy and then he smiled bitterly when he thought"I know you will come back, and when you come back, everything that is new is ready for you. A new life, a new and brighter life, because I love you so much, you and Andrea are my life. " -ANDREW-
Lana's eyes immediately warmed as she looked at a familiar cottage that for almost five years it’s just now that she had seen again. It was at the same resort in Palawan where she and Andrew first met."Are you okay?" then she was stunned when she heard that amuse question from her husband. With tears in her eyes, Lana looked up at her husband. At all times Lana always tries not to be emotional. Especially when it is for her daughter. Because for her, she would not be able to think clearly if she would give in to her emotions. But at that moment, she didn’t know if it was because of the extreme joy she was feeling. Or was it because of all the hardships she went through before she met the man, she loved the most? So, it was as if she feels like she wanted to hug Andrew, bury her face in his wide chest and pour out all her emotions in there?Eventually, her tears seemed to have a mind of their own that spontaneously flow and wet her face. She just let them go.She was very happy. And sh
It was late at night, and Andrea was fast asleep in her room when Lana heard three consecutive knocks on the door. Being busy in front of her laptop, her eyebrows furrowed, and she glanced at the wall clock hanging on top of the refrigerator. "Who is this? It's past nine o'clock, and who would even think to come by at this hour?" she whispered before standing up. Lana first peeked through the peephole of the door to see who it was. After a while, her chest immediately trembled when she saw Andrew standing outside. It took a long time for Lana to react. So she was even surprised when Andrew knocked again, but this time, it was more persistent and seemed like he couldn't wait. "What do you need, and why are you here? It's late," she asked formally after opening the door for the young man. "Andrea is already asleep, so if you can leave and come back tomorrow?" she shooed the man away. But Andrew ignored her and instead lifted the corner of his mouth before speaking. "Can I come in?"
“I don't like that baby Cecille! She is a plague! She is a plague in my life! Don't bring her near me!” Alice's hysterical cry to her older sister Cecille echoed through the room. Cecille's eyes warmed even as the intense anger she felt for her younger sister consumed her. “And what is your daughter's fault in all this? It’s not her fault that the man who got you pregnant ran away!” Cecille retorted, her voice carrying a furious tone directed at her youngest sister. A week had passed since Alice gave birth, yet she hadn't touched the baby. And that hurt Cecille deeply. But she couldn't force Alice to accept her own child; her sister's rebellious nature was a barrier. "I don't care! If it weren't for her, I would be in Japan today, already making a lot of money. I could have bought what I wanted! Unlike now, I don't have any money in my purse! I even have a problem with her diaper and milk!” Alice replied without changing her tone. Cecille let out a heavy sigh and then bowed to t
Three Years Later… "Where are you going again?" Mama Cecille asked as she helped pack the clothes for the company outing. “In Palawan, Mama. Don't worry, I'll buy you a beautiful set of pearl earrings and a necklace,” she promised with a smile. Her aunt rolled her eyes but smiled. "Just come home safe and sound; I will be happier with that," she replied. Lana laughed softly then stood up and hugged the woman who raised her as if she was her own daughter. "Thank you, Mama, I love you so much," she said, kissing Cecille on the forehead afterward. “Three days, after that the next day would be your birthday. When you come back here, I will cook you your favorite Kare-Kare,” she said, patting her arm. It was then that Lana let go of Cecille from her tight embrace. "Imagine, I'm already twenty-four; how time flies," Lana commented then followed her words with a light chuckle. Cecille stared at her and spoke. "The only thing that is missing in your life is color, sweetheart," she said
Before noon, they reached Palawan. They stayed at a beautiful first-class resort where modern cottages immediately grabbed Lana’s attention. "Nice!" Lana heard Rodora exclaim. Rodora, a regional manager like Lana, was a close colleague, only slightly older at twenty-eight. “I might meet my Prince Charming here. Can I just stay and live here?” Rodora said, followed by a loud laugh. Lana chuckled softly at Rodora's comment. ***** Lana laid herself down on the soft bed inside the small cottage assigned to her. Every regional manager had their own cottage for privacy, a great privilege of their company. Later, Lana got up and pushed open the sliding glass door to the veranda. The view was beautiful. A few meters away was a more elegant and bigger cottage with a white Land Cruiser parked in front. "Whoever is there is very rich," she said, smiling. Lana stood there for a while, quietly observing the beautiful surroundings. The light, fresh air caressed her skin, blowing her wais
The same night after their team-building seminar, they ate dinner at the resort's restaurant. "Oh Lana, why are you so quiet?" Rodora asks when she notices her silence. "Since lunch, you've been like that. Why, don't you like your cottage?” she said in a teasing tone. Lana shook her head, then handed over the glass of orange juice and drank. “N-No Rodge, I'm just tired. I haven't slept yet,” she reasoned. Rodora nodded and then finished the food on her plate. “I'm going back to my cottage. I'm going to rest. You wanna come with? ” she asked her afterward. Lana thought for a moment and then forced a smile before she consecutively shook her head. "I'm fine, just go ahead," she said. Outside the restaurant, she parted ways with Rodora along with their other co-workers. Lana smiled, just waving them goodbye, then started walking around. She couldn't understand the nervousness she had been feeling since she found out that Andrew's cottage was next to hers. The young lady laughed sof
Past five o'clock the next day, Lana woke up to a noise coming from her veranda. Sounds of cutlery and plates filled the air, and after a while, the fragrant aroma of brewed coffee finally made her get up from bed. "W-What the ---?" Lana was stunned to see a delicious breakfast prepared for two people on the veranda.** "Good morning," Andrew said as he sat down, obviously waiting for her. "Let's eat," he said, standing up and leaning over to approach her. "W-What are you doing?" she asked then spontaneously complied with what the man wanted to happen. The young man's thick eyebrows rose. "Why, don't you want this?" Lana was stunned and then quietly watched what the young man was doing. From the way he poured coffee into her cup to putting syrup and butter on her pancakes. "Thank you," she said shyly, smiling at Andrew afterward. "You know what, I've only just seen eyes like yours," he said, staring into her eyes. Lana laughed softly there and then started eating. “Really? That do
That evening, the same day, Lana's workmates invited her to go to a bar. At first, she didn't want to go. Whether she admits it or not, all day long she has been thinking about what Andrew said earlier that they will meet again. And even if she didn't speak, she couldn't deny to herself that she was looking forward to the next things that might happen between her and the young man. At the thought, Lana's face quickly blushed. “The next day we will be returning to Manila. Don't be a killjoy, you are the youngest in our group but you are the most 'aunty' when it comes to behavior,” Rodora preached to her as they left the conference hall. Lana sighed. "I'm just tired, Rodge," she reasoned yet somehow it was true. “Of course, we'll just be there for a while. We can't stay long because the meeting is early tomorrow,” said Lerma, who holds Region Five. That was when Lana sighed again. "O-Okay, it's like I still have a choice," she said laughing. Lana just made dressing up easy. She w
