CHAPTER 21: DEFEAT

Alice went on a hunt, leaving her assigned partner for the nth time. She works on her own, and having someone around would only hinder her style. Alice rarely fails at killing the vampires she meets, and most of those moments are when she tries to work with a partner or a group.

It hasn’t been long since she was out and successfully spotted a vampire about to prey on a human that wasn’t even compelled. They usually attack after the vampire has compelled the human, but the vampire looked new and was unaware of what it was doing. She immediately moved before the vampire could kill its victim.

And that’s how Carl and Alice met. It was the first time she encountered a human who was not compelled. Carl was scared out of his wits that time. Meanwhile, Alice couldn’t think of anything but to drag him back to headquarters. That is when he learned about the existence of vampires and hunters alike.
