CHAPTER 20: HALF THE TRUTH

Just when Alice thought she could have a peaceful night, she found one of her teammates waiting on her porch like a sad puppy abandoned by its owner. It made sense, as it suddenly rained and it adds to the dramatic ambiance.

"What the hell is he doing in there?" She mumbled and removed her motorcycle helmet before approaching him, not minding that she was getting wet because of the sudden rain.

"Carl." She called with obvious irritation, "Why are you here?"

He pursed his lips, not appreciating her tone, but let it go as it was her normal tone most of the time.

"Where have you been?" He couldn’t help but ask while Alice quietly opened the door.

She turned to him and arched an eyebrow, "Don't answer my question with another question. I don’t recall you having the right to ask me that question, especially now that we’re both suspended."
