Chapter 4

After a long conversation about Harvey and Trash-lyn, my phone went off with a text that came through.

“Hey, I picked up some Chinese. Did you want to come over for supper?”

God, it’s been so long since I’ve had Chinese food. “Of course! I’ll be there in just a minute” I messaged back.

Terri looked over my shoulder and smiled at me. “Ya know, he hasn’t committed to a girl in a long time. He’s really smitten with you.”

I smacked her arm and rolled my eyes at her. “Honestly, Terri, I doubt it.” I sighed. “Since everything that happened with Harvey, I don’t even want to think about a relationship. I’m sure he’s a sweet guy, but I just don’t think I can trust anyone.”

Terri wrapped her arms around me and whispered in my ear, “Maybe he’s worth it.” She kissed my cheek and pulled back, giving me a warm smile. “I love you, and you deserve the world.”

I hugged her back and told her I was going to Zach’s for supper. She giggled and shooed me away, so I began my walk back to Zach’s home, admiring the look of it on the outside. As I opened the door, all I could smell was chicken and rice with a hint of the sweet and sour sauce. My mouth began to water and I looked around the corner.

“Hey. I was waiting for you,” he grins. “Pick out what you want, first. I want to make sure you’re well fed.”

I laughed and looked up at him, hinting at my weight. “Please, we both know I’m already well fed.” Zach frowned and ignored my comment. He grabbed some plates and brought them over, handing me my own. After a few minutes, he spoke up.

“June, I think no matter what your size is, you are the most beautiful girl I’ve ever set my eyes on,” he blinked a few times and looked deep into my eyes. “I don’t care about the baggage you may hold, ever since the day I laid my eyes on you 3 years ago at that damn wharf, I was always attracted to you.”

My eyes began to water and I dropped my plate on the counter top. Looking up into his eyes, searching for a reason to stop, all I could do was fall in love. In a swift motion, I touched my hands to his face and stood on my toes. He looked at me in shock before we both closed our eyes, embracing in a kiss. My lips tingle as I kiss him, moaning as we melt into each other. He reached his arms down, picking me up by my thighs and placing me onto the counter, kissing me harder.

“Fuck, June,” he moaned out. “Even your lips taste so good.”

I let out a little moan and tangled my fingers in his hair. Zach’s lips started to trail down to my neck, nibbling on my skin. He rubbed his length on my leg and grabbed my hips. Just as fast as he started, he stopped, resting his head on mine.

“God, June, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have gotten so carried away,” he whispered, panting.

I touched his chin and lifted his eyes to mine. “Hey, no, it’s okay. I’m sorry for kissing you-”

“Don’t you ever apologize for kissing me,” he cut me off. “I loved it, and if I had no self control at all, we would have done much more.”

When he said that, I felt fire burning between my thighs. I smiled at him and picked my plate back up and brought it over to the table. He sat down across from me and we began to make small talk. I noticed him continue to sneak glances at me and it made me blush. I don’t think I’ve ever had a man appear to be so interested in me before.

“I appreciate you getting some food, I was so hungry after driving all day and I didn’t want to bother Terri.”

He smiled and shook his head. “Oh, that wasn’t an issue at all, I’m glad you enjoyed it.” He took my plate and dropped it in the sink. “Did you want to watch a movie? I got some girly ones there if you want to watch one. Do you think Terri will mind?”

I tossed my head back in a laugh, “I don’t think she cares much. Do you have Top Gun?”

Zach looked at me with wide eyes. “What? Did you just ask me if I had the best movie ever made?”

I laughed harder and nodded. We walked into the living room and he put on the movie, offering to make some popcorn. I grabbed a few glasses and poured us some soda, bringing it into the living room. I shot Terri a text, letting her know I’m staying here for a movie.

“Hey Terri, he asked me if I wanted to stay for a movie, so we are gonna watch Top Gun. I’ll be at your place right after, I promise.” I waited a few minutes and then my phone went off.

“Ms. Brians, I only allowed you to go there for Chinese, not for a movie, too!” As soon as I read her text, I gulped. Then my phone went off again. “Just kidding! Stay the night, girl, I don’t care! Just have fun.” She sent a heart emoji and I smiled. I put my phone down on the table and waited for Zach to walk back in the room.

He had 2 big bowls of popcorn in each hand. I was quick to take them and set them on the round coffee table so he could put on the movie. Before he clicked play, he went down the hall and opened up a closet, bringing me a blanket and a pillow.

“You know,” he spoke. “I’ve never met a girl who actually liked Top Gun before. I was always told that it was a ‘boy’ movie.”

I giggled and looked over at him as he started the movie. “I don’t get how you can’t like it! It’s literally one of my favorites, I used to watch it with my dad all the time. I think he grew sick of it after a while.”

I noticed a pained look on Zach’s face, but it was quickly replaced with a smile. “I’ll never grow sick of it.”

I leaned back into him, covering us in a blanket and set the pillow on his stomach. As we watched the movie, he ran his fingers through my hair and started to braid it, telling me how soft it is. I turned around and smiled, reaching up into his hair, twisting it around my fingers.

“Yours is soft too, Zach.”

He pulled me up so I was facing him and cradling his hips. “I like it when you play with my hair, June bug.” He looked down at my lips and licked his. Fuck. “Can I kiss you again?”
