Chapter 3

- June’s POV ~ Present Day -

Friday was quick to close in and I packed my stuff into my car.

As I started my 4 and a half hour drive, I put on some of my favorite music and was sure to grab a coffee and sandwich from the local cafe. Since Terri was working, I was going to hang out with Zach for a bit, so I let him know that I was on my way to Pleasant View, and he replied with kissy faces.

I’m not sure why it seemed like he was so attracted to me, I was never attractive. I’m a bigger girl and my face isn’t very pretty, but I’m funny and my personality is the only thing I have going for me. I was always known as the funniest one out of the friend group and I liked to hold that high.

When I got closer, I gave Zach a call and he answered on the first ring. “Hey beautiful, are you close?” He laughed and followed it with “if not, you will be when I get my way with you” under his breath.

I didn’t want to acknowledge the fact that I heard what he muttered, so I brushed it off. “Hey! I’m just getting into town, what’s your address again?”

He went quiet for a minute. “Just follow the road up the big hill and I’ll be outside on your right.”

I should be more frustrated about the lack of direction that I got from this man, but instead I laughed. I should’ve expected it. I hung up and tried my best to look for his house.

When I pulled into Zach’s driveway, he had a big grin plastered on his face. “You get easier on the eyes more and more every day” He did a great job making me blush and get flustered.

When I shut the car off, he was quick to open the door for me. As we walked to the front door, he kept giving small glances my way which made my belly swirl with butterflies. I looked up into his eyes trying to gather his thoughts.

“Not bringing in your bags?”

“No, I’m staying with a friend for a few days. Her name is Terri.”

“Oh…” He looked a bit defeated. “Anyways, back to it. Please don’t mind the mess, I was a bit busy this morning and never had much time to clean up,” he stressed. He opened the door and the house was beautiful. I finally understood why he wanted some color added to the house, the walls were plain white.

I looked around, then peered up to his eyes again. “Your house is stunning, Zach!”

He chucked. “Come on, June. I’ll show you around.” Holding his arm in a bow, he invited me to place my hand on him. We left the kitchen and he brought me down the hallway and showed me the most beautiful spare room I’ve ever seen. “The room isn’t much, it needs a furniture swap.”

I tapped his arm and beamed at him, “Zach, are you kidding me? This is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen!”

He raised his eyebrow and smiled. “You’ve never owned a mirror before?” This man is going to be the death of me.

There was another spare room next to that one, it almost had the same layout, but it was a bit smaller. A little further down the hallway, we came across his bedroom. He had a large flat screen tv mounted to the wall and a messy bed across the room. I gawked around, getting a strong smell of cologne. He had a Harry Potter poster next to his window and a car poster on the empty wall. For a boy, I was a little surprised to see how clean Zach's room was, aside from the bed not being made.

After getting a good look around, I came to the conclusion that the bathroom was the size of my own bedroom back home. The house was huge, and so clean. I’m not sure what he was so nervous about. A few minutes later, after seeing every square inch of the house, Zach went outside to continue with his yard work and told me to make myself comfy. Instead, I walked back through the house and made up different ideas to paint each room.

I turned around and Zach was behind me. He had his lip pinched between his perfectly straight teeth.

I stood in shock, but shook my head and started to speak. “So, the bathroom should go a nice, pale blue. You can even pick up some blue curtains for the window.” I started. He nodded as if agreeing with me. As I told him each colour for the rooms, he made note of it all. He folded the piece of paper and stuffed it in his pocket. We sat in silence for a bit until he decided to speak.

“So your friend's name is Terri, huh?”

“Yeah! Terri Andrews.”

He seemed to brighten up a bit. “Oh, Terri! That’s definitely where I’ve seen you, then.” After a few minutes of small talk, he looked me up and down, his eyes lingering on my boobs. I noticed him lick his lips and he inched a bit closer. “It is taking every ounce of my power to not kiss you right now.”

My breath hitched and as we got closer, he pulled away. I giggled and looked up at him. “I should go check on Terri, see if she's home.”

He let out a small cough and nodded. “Yeah, for sure. I’m gonna go run a few errands, I’ll catch you later?” He winked at me and we left the house. I started to make my way down the street and within minutes, arrived at Terri’s.

I went to knock, but she answered before I could even touch the door. She pulled me in for a hug and kissed my cheek. “June, I haven’t seen you in forever! God, I missed your face.” I let out a giggle and we walked up to her room. “So, tell me all the details! Have you kissed him yet?”

I rolled my eyes and smiled at her. “No, he got close and said how its taking everything for him to not kiss me, but it never went further than that. I don’t think he actually likes me that way, I might just be a good fuck for him.”

“Bullshit! I see the way he looks at you, June,” she said. “You can’t be that oblivious.”

“Well, maybe I am. Or maybe you just need a better prescription for your glasses.”

She scoffed at me, “Jesus, I just got these glasses last month.”

We both broke out into laughter and held each other. She was always like a sister to me, I just hated how we lived so far apart.
