World Of Darkness

ATHENA'S POV

When he left, I felt so miserable. It felt like my life was finally crumbling down in pieces. The everlasting darkness surrounding me made it even more so miserable. My tears were hot against my cheeks as they refused to stop. I didn't want to cry, nor did I want to feel pathetic, but I couldn't help it.

I could endure Lorrie, and Ragas. I was used to them but with the Lycan Alpha… it was different.

I didn't know the worst he could do but I already knew the worst Lorrie could do. I didn't know to what extent he and his so-called lover could go. I had waded in waters I wasn't familiar with.

Sitting there all day was me staring at my walls of darkness. Hearing people as they walked by, hearing my door open, hearing the chink of dishes and cutlery, smelling the enticing aroma but not minding all of that. I was in my own world of darkness and misery, and didn't care for anything.

Hours passed by and when I felt the cool breeze blowing in, I knew it was night already.

I reached for my cane, and started to wade my way around the room for the window. All through my week, I had tried to master the room, and picture it in my head, imagining the bed, wardrobe, and other furniture in their different positions so I wouldn't trip.

When I got to the window, a soft breeze rushed past me, blowing my dark brown hair behind my shoulders. It seemed to be calming me, reassuring me and helping me to feel better.

I waited for a long time, preparing myself to feel abused once more just like the day when Ragas had forced himself on me, but he never came until I fell asleep on my chair in front of the window.

When I woke, I was in my bed.

"Good morning, Miss Athena." I heard Jane say and smelled tea. "You fell asleep on your chair last night so I prepared some herbal tea in case you might be feeling some pain from being seated in the chair for a long time." She said, and I sat up on the bed.

"Who brought me to my bed?" I asked, and she chuckled lightly.

"It was me. I couldn't leave you there so I dragged the chair here, and tried to lift you onto your body so you could rest comfortably, but then you wake really early. I doubt much people would be awake. Well, except the maids." She pointed out, and a little sigh escaped me.

For years, I had to wake earlier than the earth just so I could get on with my chores. There was no way that habit would suddenly leave me.

Like they said, old habits die hard.

"I need to brush, and have my bath. Then I'll go for a walk." I told her.

If I couldn't work, then I had to walk. I couldn't just sit there.

"Alright ma'am. Maybe if you rest a little after your walk, we'll go to the boutique together. Alpha Jeremy ordered for you to get a new wardrobe. He wants something different from the clothes in the wardrobe." She informed me and her voice sounded a little distant, then I heard a door open. A door the sound of which I had associated with the toilet.

Shortly, she returned, and helped me to rise.

"I have prepared what you'll need." She said, and I didn't know how to tell her I knew how to do things myself, and that my being blind wasn't that much of a liability.

After brushing, and taking my bath in the bathtub with heavily, and sweet scented soap, I was assisted in dressing by Jane, and by the time we were done, I could tell that the mansion was coming alive.

Sounds of maids scampering around, trying to get things done, as we walked further I heard pots and pans and the dishes clattering and clinking as the cooks tried to prepare the day's breakfast.

"I could whip up something real fast for you for breakfast." Jane offered, directing me towards the kitchen.

"I'm fine. I don't eat too much." I told her, and she stopped, then we kept on moving forward.

When we got out of the Palace, we entered a car which smelled great, and in seconds we were off on the road, zooming past on the highway, and stopping wherever traffic necessitated.

The air conditioners in the boutique were a full blast and I felt underdressed and too cold. Jane seemed to have noticed, for I suddenly felt her arms around me, draping a scarf around my shoulders.

"Thank you." I appreciated her, and she took my hand.

"Not to mention. It's my duty to see to your comfortability. Now, what kind of clothes would you like?" She asked, and I pushed out my hand, and it met with fabric. Different textures, different sizes.

"I wear whatever I'm given." I replied sadly. I never knew the color of the clothes I wore, nor how beautiful they were. I simply wore whatever I was given.

"Alright. Then I would request that you trust me to pick out the best clothes for you." She assured me, and left me standing there. A few customers walked around, and I could feel their stares on me. It was evident that I was a blind person. I didn't know how I seemed to others but I knew that standing in a single spot and staring and in one direction were sure things to give away a blind person.

"What are you guys doing here?" I heard Jane ask as the sound of her court shoes knocked on the ground as she approached me.

"Miss Octavia wanted to do some shopping and Alpha Jeremy ordered us to take Miss Athena along and when he heard you had left, he told us to follow and join you in picking clothes for her." A different voice explained.

"Alright. Make sure you pick the best." Jane ordered, and took my arm. "You can change yourself?" She asked, and I chuckled.

"I'm blind, not a baby." I replied, and just then, I heard heels clacking from a distance.

"Where's she!?" I heard the angry voice of Octavia, Alpha Jeremy's lover.

Was she looking for me?
