Max looked at Deanna as they enjoyed the last of the day at the park down the road from his parent's house. She seemed more relaxed than she had been in the past few days. He wanted to keep her that way. He needed to keep her that way, but he didn’t know how to. That was an underlying thing he wanted to give her, that sense of peace to be able to go through her days without thinking all the time about the things that lay ahead.
