Chapter 39

Two hours later, Huxley looked much better after he was done with the IV drip. The doctor recommended hospitalization, but Huxley refused. In the end, the doctor prescribed some medicine and instructed him to eat lightly for the next few days.

When Serena went to get the medicine, Silas called. She didn't pick up all three calls, so Silas sent a message instead.

[Shawn misses you.]

Serena stared at the message for a moment in hesitation before finally calling back.

The other side picked up almost instantly; Shawn's excited voice came through.

"Mom!"

Serena's tone became gentle as well. "Shawn, have you been a good boy?"

"I've been behaving. But Mom, you haven't called me for days!" Shawn complained. "You told me you'll still video call me even if you're away at work!"

"Sorry, Shawn. I've just been really busy these past few days."
