Relaying Message
The witches gave me the day off to recover from the night's journey. I knew that Jay would wonder where I had gone as a few days would now turn to a few months. I wasn’t sure if I could handle such a long period without him, but I was determined to prove my worth and not allow myself to fall into madness. Jay, on the other hand, would not handle my vanishing so well.
With that in mind, the witches agreed to let me tell him some details, but my location could not be disclosed to anyone, mate or otherwise. I understood why. Even if he managed to enter the forest without trouble, he would never be able to track my scent and getting lost in this place would drive him even madder than just being away from me for a long period.

As the morning turned into midday, the shadows were now all but gone. Even with the fog, it was hard to see any way of travelling using the method I had finally learned to use. I could make some distance by gliding from tree to tree though, so I still had some ways and means of travelling. What surprised me was that I had no hunger pains in this form. The moment the shadows had become longer and stronger, I returned to using them to speed up the distance made from here towards the cottage. It feels like I have been gone for years when it has only been a few months. I can finally smell the familiar scents of my pack’s homeland. I’m honestly quite excited to be coming home after so long! Aderyn flies just overhead and has been my eyes in the sky to ensure a safe journey home. It’s pretty late at night, so I don’t expect anyone to come and greet me. After returning to the location of my body, I release the bond with the raven, allowing it to fly back off to its nest or wherever it will go. The water is cold against my skin, even with all this fur on my body. As soon as Aderyn had returned, it let me know I could make it up part of the way before a patrol would become an issue. There were more further up that it would then become impossible, but this would get us past the outskirts of the border and at least as close as where I had washed up on shore the last time I was here. Any further and I’d find it hard to avoid patrols and battle the river’s current.Things can still go wrong, though, so I am cautious about how quietly I make my way upstream. Anytime Aderyn lets off a warning call, I lower my body further into the river’s waters.
