Chapter 2

Autor: The Handsome Guy
Little did I know, all the nutritional supplements I had sent Nalani would end up benefiting someone else, and the woman I had spent so much time caring for and supporting had, under the watchful eyes of Brimstone's elite, given birth to another man's child.

Finn chased after me all the way to the entrance. Clutching my sleeve for dear life, he apologized with a somber look. "Nalani genuinely loves you, Hugo. Please give her another chance. I had never imagined that the two of them…

"There has to be some misunderstanding! We'll talk sense into her and make sure she comes around…"

I flung his hand away and responded lowly, "It's alright. I suppose this is just a case of keeping things in the family. After all, they're not related by blood. Congratulations on the new addition to your family!"

My faintly sarcastic remark made Finn's expression shift. However, because he depended on my family for everything, he didn't dare cross me. All he could do was force a smile. "I'll give you 30% of our company's shares. Why don't you claim the child as yours? We can still be one big family…"

I looked down at him before slowly curling my lips. "Quit dreaming, Mr. Smith!"

Indignant, he wanted to change my mind, but he was stopped by Henry. "We won't get involved in your family's dirty laundry. My older brother has made himself clear. Our lawyer will pay you a visit tomorrow!"

After hearing the word "lawyer", Finn panicked. With a look of misery, he threw himself at our car, only to be blasted with a cloud of tailpipe smoke as we sped off.

The following afternoon, my lawyer, Mr. Mason, returned to my office, sporting a battered, bruised face. "Ms. Smith refuses to sign the agreement, Mr. Chandler. She even invited you to attend her family's press conference."

Nalani refused to sign, and she even beat up my lawyer... I took the invitation, suppressed my rage, and floored the gas pedal. It felt as though a fishbone was lodged in my chest, leaving me in pain and making it hard to breathe.

Nalani and Felix stood together like a newlywed couple amidst a flurry of camera shutters, exchanging knowing smiles before addressing the reporters. "Felix and I aren't related by blood. We love each other, and I willingly gave birth to his child."

The reporters went wild the moment they heard that. Elite families were always breeding grounds for scandal, and this involved the richest man in Brimstone. Thus, they were itching to dig up every last detail and turn it into a sensational scandal.

"Ms. Smith, what about your previous relationship with Mr. Chandler? Is your younger brother really the one who came between you and your fiance?"

Nalani's eyes coincidentally met mine. After a split second of hesitation, she answered firmly, "That's not true. The one who isn't loved is the homewrecker, and I love Felix!"

Then, she smiled and emphasized, "He's the love of my life, the father of my child, and in a few months, we'll be welcoming our second baby..."

Just then, one of the reporters spotted me and immediately thrust their camera in my face. "Mr. Chandler, what are your thoughts on what Ms. Smith just said?"

The divorce agreement in my palm was almost crushed in my grip. For the sake of Felix's reputation, she was willing to humiliate me in public, dragging me and my family through the dirt. Every word she said implied that I was the unloved homewrecker, yet I was her lawful husband.

I narrowed my eyes and was about to retort when Henry's voice rang out. "Since you two are so deeply in love, have you registered your marriage? Are you legally married?" He placed heavy emphasis on the words "registered your marriage".

The blood drained from Felix's face in a heartbeat. The reporters' cameras were all trained on him, waiting for his answer.

Henry, who was secretly enjoying every second of this, continued to mock them. "Everyone, they may not be related by blood, but they're still siblings! Ms. Smith became pregnant out of wedlock and had an incestuous affair. For the sake of their affair, they don't care about their family's reputation…"

Nalani would be living in a mansion, cruising on luxury yachts, and flanked by countless bodyguards and mercenaries. Instead, she had fallen so far that everyone wanted to beat her down, and she didn't even have a roof over her head. She was reduced to living beneath an overpass, huddled against a concrete pillar like a beggar. The last time she visited Felix in prison, he was reduced to skin and bones, with sunken cheeks and a menacing air. "Wait for me, Nalani. When I get out, we'll go home together!" He waved his hands frantically, his tone laced with urgency, as if he was afraid she would abandon him.Nalani forced a tired, almost manic smile. Home? They had nothing left now.To survive, she swallowed her pride and searched high and low for me, hoping I'd lend a hand for old times' sake. After everything she had been through, she still hadn't learned her lesson; she still believed the world revolved around her. Carrying her son on her back, she knelt on the ground and compu

Mina was scared out of her wits. Wailing, she dragged Finn back home with the help of others. When Finn came to, he knew the battle was lost. He unleashed all his anger and the humiliation he had suffered over the past days onto Nalani. He couldn't bear to lay a hand on his own son, but he had no such hesitation with his adopted daughter. Besides, it was this promiscuous slut who seduced his son in the first place and offended me, bringing all this disaster upon their family. The more he thought about it, the more he detested him. He picked up the leather whip beside him and struck Nalani with it. "This is all your fault, you idiot! Not only did you ruin my son, but you also destroyed our family! Are you satisfied now? "You whore, you could've been the wife of the richest man in Brimstone; why did you have to seduce Felix? I'll beat you to death, you jinx!" he swore while jabbing his finger at Nalani's nose. For a while, the living room echoed with the sharp cracks of the whip

The following afternoon, the Smiths made the trending list yet again. This time, the spotlight wasn't on Nalani and Felix, but on Mina and Finn. In a single night, I cut off funding to all of Smith Group's branches in the country. The authorities arrived at their office buildings with a large team to conduct a thorough audit. Not only did they uncover serious tax evasion, but they also discovered that the Smiths had been involved in money laundering, and the amount of money involved was staggering. Chandler Group swooped in and gobbled up all the business partners and orders they had left behind.Watching the company he'd worked so hard to build be eradicated so effortlessly by me, Felix was blinded by rage. He barged into my office building with his men, only to be neutralized by my mercenary team in a matter of moments. After getting beaten within an inch of his life, he was tossed out like trash, only to be abducted right on the street by another group. As luck would have it,

Mina and Finn were no longer their usual gentle selves. Cursing profusely, they demanded to know why she hadn't been beaten to death. Felix was the only one who stayed by her side, keeping a close watch over her. The moment she came to, Finn slapped her across the face. "You bitch, because of you, our family is in serious trouble! Did all my warnings fall on deaf ears? I told you to coax Hugo. "What the heck did you do? You're just a bargaining chip for a marriage alliance! Do you seriously think of yourself as some priceless treasure?"Nalani was dumbstruck. Although she was the Smiths' adopted daughter, Mina and Finn had always treated her kindly and had never said a harsh word to her. The only exception had been that day, when they learned that she and Felix had a son together. Even then, all they had done was curse at her coldly. Nalani had always believed that the two of them genuinely loved her and treated her like their own daughter. It only dawned on her then, after he

After hearing that, Nalani froze before bursting into thunderous laughter. She scrambled to her feet, pointed at me, and laughed so hard she couldn't close her mouth. She even doubled over with laughter. She only stopped when her phone, which was clenched in the palm of her hand, rang. Then, she caught her breath and answered it. However, within just a few seconds, all the color drained from her face. Staring at me with a mixture of shock and fear, I raised my hand to stop her before she could utter a word.I looked at the face I had once been hopelessly enamored with. Now, even a single glance made me sick to my stomach. Holding her gaze, I said, "You've had a death wish this whole time. So, I'll grant your wish."The crowd of onlookers in the distance began to approach us, chattering over one another."Isn't that the woman from the Smith family who had a child through an incestuous relationship with her own brother? How does a filthy woman like that have the nerve to come out

After we completely fell out, the Smiths became even more brazen. Not only did they hold a wedding for the two of them, but they also went around telling anyone who would listen that the child was the heir to the Smith family. The entire high society mocked me for being cuckolded because I'd married a woman only to end up with a ready-made family of three. There were also people who were puzzled. "Nalani gave up a billionaire for a deadbeat who drinks, gambles, and frequents brothels. What does she even see in him?"Unable to swallow the humiliation, Nalani maliciously spread rumors. "What do I see in him? He can make babies! Hugo's impotent; he's all show and no go!"Before I could explode, my secretary, Aria Thatcher, stammered out that Nalani had brought a horde of people to surround Henry's inpatient building. Not only had they blocked off the fire escapes, but they were also carrying cans of kerosene. I slammed my foot on the gas and raced to the hospital, only to be interce
