The moment Seraphine stepped through the archway, the air changed.

Cold. Heavy.

The fog swallowed her whole, muffling sound, muffling light. She reached for the rune-marked stone behind her only to find nothing but more mist. The exit was gone.

So it begins.

The silence pressed on her ears until a faint rustle broke it. A whisper. Then another. The fog shifted, forming shapes, shadows with too many eyes, too many teeth. They slithered around her, circling, testing.

Her pulse hammered. Her

The great gates of Aetherborn Academy opened slowly with a deep, ancient rumble as two figures stepped through the glowing portal. Magic rippled through the air like a quiet storm settling after a long journey. Seraphine Vale and Damien Drakaris had returned. The courtyard beyond the gates looked just as Seraphine remembered it, vast stone pathways, towering silver trees glowing faintly with enchanted light, and the tall Gothic towers of the academy rising into the twilight sky. Yet something felt different. Word of their return had already spread. Students had gathered across the courtyard balconies and stairways, whispering excitedly among themselves. Professors stood in small groups nearby, their expressions curious and relieved. But standing at the center of the courtyard were the ones who mattered most. The High Council. They waited in a quiet line, their long robes moving gently in the evening breeze. Their faces were calm, but their eyes watched Seraphine and Damien ca

  • Welcome to Aetherborn: Crushes, Curses & Creatures   152: Gone, Girlfriend & Goodbye

Morning sunlight slipped softly through the curtains, painting golden lines across the quiet room. Damien Drakaris stood near the center of the room, staring down at his hands as if they belonged to someone else. Slowly, he closed his eyes. He focused on the feeling inside him, the ancient heat that had once vanished from his blood. The dragon. It had been gone, silent. But now... He breathed in deeply. Power surged through his veins. A shimmer of golden scales flashed across his arms, and with a sudden burst of magic, his body shifted. Wings unfolded behind him, massive and powerful, filling the room for only a moment before the transformation reversed. In seconds, he was human again. Damien laughed in disbelief. He tried again. Another surge of magic. Another transformation. Dragon. Then human. He fell back onto the bed, breathless, a huge smile spreading across his face. "My dragon..." he whispered. "It's really back." For the first time in so long, he felt whole. A

"Make love to me now." For a moment, the words seemed to freeze the air between them. Damien Drakaris stared at her, his breath uneven, his dark eyes searching her face as if he feared he had misunderstood. "Seraphine..." he whispered. Seraphine Vale did not look away. Her fingers rested against his chest, feeling the rapid rhythm of his heart beneath her palm. The dim light of the room wrapped around them, soft and warm, while the faint night breeze slipped through the curtains. "I'm serious," she said quietly. "I want you." Damien swallowed. "Are you sure?" he asked gently. "I don't want this to be something you regret." Seraphine lifted her hand to his face, brushing her fingers along his cheek. "I won't regret you." The sincerity in her voice melted the last of his hesitation. Slowly, carefully, he leaned closer and kissed her again. This time the kiss was softer, deeper, not rushed, not desperate. It was a kiss filled with everything they had been holding back: longing,

The night air of the human world felt different. Cooler. Quieter. Almost fragile. "So this is where you grew up," Damien said immediately as both of them were taking a stroll. Seraphine smiled slightly. "Yep. No floating islands. No magical beasts. Just people trying to survive and eat good food." Damien raised an eyebrow. "Good food?" Seraphine suddenly grabbed his wrist. "Come on." Before he could protest, she dragged him down the street and into a small roadside restaurant buzzing with laughter and clinking bottles. A few people glanced at them, mostly because Damien looked like he had just stepped out of a royal portrait but Seraphine ignored them. She sat down at a plastic table and pointed at the menu on the wall. "We're starting with the most important thing in the human world." Damien folded his arms. "And what would that be?" Seraphine grinned. "Fried chicken." Minutes later, a plate piled high with crispy golden chicken landed in front of them. Damien stared at i

The fall felt endless. Seraphine Emberlain and Damien Drakaris tumbled through the rift like stars torn from the sky. Wind roared around them. Colors twisted violently: silver, blue, emerald, white, spiraling through the void as the portal carried them between worlds. Every nerve in Damien's body burned. It felt as if something inside him was being pulled apart and rebuilt at the same time. His vision blurred. Light shattered across his eyes. Then- Everything stopped. Their bodies hit the ground with a dull thud. For several seconds neither of them moved. The world around them was quiet. Too quiet. Damien gasped for air, his hands pressing into the cold, damp soil beneath him. He slowly pushed himself up. His head was spinning. He expected glowing skies. Floating mountains. Magic humming in the air the way it did in Aetherborn. But instead- He saw trees. Plain trees. Tall, rough-barked trunks stretching upward into a gray sky. No glowing leaves. No magical currents. Just win

Morning light spilled gently through the tall windows of Seraphine's room. The academy grounds were unusually calm today, as if the world itself was holding its breath. Seraphine stood beside her bed, folding the last few clothes into a small travel bag. She paused for a moment, looking around the room. It felt strange. Only a few weeks ago this had been just a temporary place while she figured out what Aetherborn Academy even was. Now it felt like home. She closed the bag slowly. Today she would return to the human world. Not forever. Just long enough to settle the pieces of the life she had left behind. Her mind drifted back to the conversation she had earlier with Damien. He had agreed to go with her but the decision hadn't been easy. They had met in one of the quieter gardens near the academy towers. For the first time since the essence transfer, Seraphine noticed how different Damien felt. The golden aura that once surrounded him as a dragon prince was completely gone.

Seraphine lay on her bed, staring up at the canopy above, the moonlight spilling through her window like silver threads. Sleep wouldn’t come, her mind wouldn’t let it. All she could replay was what had happened on the cliff. Kade’s eyes. His hand against her cheek. That kiss. And the way th

Kade didn’t explain. He simply shifted before her eyes, bones cracking, form bending until the black wolf stood where the boy had been. Seraphine’s stomach dropped. The five pairs of eyes locked on her felt sharper than knives. The night wind carried the faint smell of smoke still clinging to her from Damien’s wings, and it only made her feel more exposed. Cressida stepped forward first, her fiery-red hair catching the torchlight

Kade stepped into the lantern glow, hands shoved in his pockets, posture loose but eyes too sharp to match his easy stance. “Well,” he drawled, looking Damien over. “Good to see you finally crawled out of your cave.” Damien smirked faintly, scratching the back of his neck. “Yeah.
