We finally get the food, and I dig in. Just now realizing how hungry I am. Gunner smiles at me as I shove a mouthful of pancakes into my mouth, and Olivia laughs at me.

Sarah and Justin come into the room a little while later, taking a plate for themselves from the mountain of food Issac made. All were missing is Cole and Jordan and we might as well be back at the camp.

“When are we going back to camp?” I ask no one in particular, and Dean purses his lips. “We kind of decided not to go back. It’s safer here and we don’t want to put you out in the open like that.” Dean answers and I literally laugh out loud.

I grimace as I realize I probably shouldn’t have done that.

They all stare at me like I’m crazy and I purse my lips. “I mean the threat is gone. Why are you worried about my safety now?” I ask, honestly not sure. Issac places his hand on top of mine. “With your wolf…” I put my hand up to stop him. “We don’t even know if that’s real. Besides, even if it is, I have no intentions of b

My body slams to the ground as soon as the purple mist starts to dissipate from the room. My heart feels like it’s going to burst through my fucking chest as I take in that we lost her… Again!Dean’s eyes wide as he stares at the spot she was two seconds ago. A chair goes flying across the room from beside me, “Goddess, dam it!” Jordan shouts, as he looks at the spot she was too.Cora stands and we’re all instantly on guard, standing straighter, readying ourselves for a fight.“I know where she took her.” Cora says, her eyes kinder than before.Grace did it. She broke through.“Issac!” I shout, because we need to go. I don’t know why he’s still using his powers right now. Cora shakes her head, “He’s gone. He managed to go with her.” Cora explains, and while that doesn’t cure all my worry, it definitely helps.“You’re good now. You’re not going to like alter our memories or anything, right?” Dean asks her, and Cora shakes her head, “No. Grace helped me break through.” Cora explains, an

My eyes fly open as soon as Cora’s wall comes down. Gunner grunts and pulls at something holding him into the wall. Issac sits next to me, his eyes wide with concern, but that’s as far as I get before something clamps around my neck and Issac’s no longer visible to me… My powers. Not again. Then I’m gone.A cloud of purple smoke disperses around me, but I can barely see it. There’s only one candle lit on the floor, everything else is just black.Black surrounds me, but I can still feel the hands of someone wrapped around my shoulders. Am I still in the same room? Is everyone else still here?“You’ve caused a lot of problems.” The witch sneers from behind me. I shake my shoulders to get out of her hold, and I hear a chain cling, and my head suddenly feels a lot heavier. I try to pull my head away, but the resistance of the chain stops me.She has me collared and chained. I yank at the chain, ignoring the itchy feeling crawling down my spine, but it’s useless. It’s gold. “Trust me, girl

We stand under the sun, everyone staring at Cora. Mitchell shifted last night when their birthday hit and the time hit twelve, but not Cora. She hasn’t shifted, and they all know why.Mitchell stands behind his family, his arms crossed, he glances up at the sky. “Maybe she’s not the Golden Wolf and she’s just defective.” He growls from behind them. His whole family turns towards him with a glare.“Mitchell, go inside if you can’t be happy for your sister.” His mom scolds him, but he grunts and throws his butt onto the ground.I turn back to Cora just in time to see her easily transform and become a Beautiful golden wolf. Her fur and eyes look almost the same as mine, but her coloring is just a bit darker. I stare at her in awe as she howls to the sun, then I look back at Mitchell. The awe on his face is obvious, but so is the hate so clearly written there. The rest of the family is excited for Cora, Lacy runs up to her petting her fur and giggling as she feels how soft she is. “She’s

“She’s been in there for a long time.” I whisper mostly to myself, but they all hear me. “You think something’s wrong?” Gunner asks, moving away from the door and closer to where we placed her on the couch across from Cora.I shake my head, “I… I don’t know. She’s worked through several minds at a time faster than this.” I tell him, and he looks down at her worriedly.“It took her hours her first time. Maybe Cora’s mind is more complex.” Jordan says from the window. No joking in his tone, it’s not a dig at us for having less complex minds, it’s fear… He’s worried about her. My teeth scrap together as I think of something to do. I hate not knowing things. I hate that I wasn’t there when she discovered she could do this so I could research anything possible on it so I could help her.“Maybe if I grabbed her, I could join her… Help her?” Dean suggests, moving closer to her as well.I look over him, he looks better now than he did in the war room, but would this be too much for him if it’

Issac walks up to my side, “We need to be careful. There’s a witch around here somewhere. I’ve haven’t seen her since she removed our marks, but I’m sure she’s here. Our marks aren’t the only ones she would have had to remove.” Issac whispers and I swallow thinking about that pain again and hating that other people have had to go through it as well.Hopefully, it did to them what it did to me and let them know that even if they weren’t next to them, they were still out there somewhere… Alive.Issac wraps his arm around my waist and pulls me close as we continue to walk towards Cora. Sensing the pain I feel at the memories. “Never again, Sunshine.” He whispers, and I wipe away the tear that runs down my cheek unwillingly.I need to be strong right now. I can’t show this weakness. Not right now.Apparently, Cora’s room is on the top floor of the castle all by herself. That might just make things easier. All the guards being distracted by the upcoming war is making things even easier, I’
