Emma’s POV

I walked beside Zane toward his car, my nerves bouncing all over the place. I wished Maddie had just let me take a cab. Sitting alone with him in a car? Total torture.

Then his hand landed on my lower back.

My breath caught, and a chill ran straight down my spine.

“You alright, Emma?” he asked, his voice low.

I gave a quick nod without turning his way. My cheeks were burning, and I could feel the heat in my face. If he saw me now, he would know everything.

Then came that low laugh of his.

God, I needed this ride to be over.

Luckily, my place was close. Just a few minutes and I would be out of the car and away from… whatever this was turning into.

He walked me to the car and opened the door like a proper gentleman. I got in, slid across the seat, trying to stick close to the door like that would help. He joined me, started the engine, and the silence filled the space.

“You still staying at the same place?” he asked as we got on the road.

“Yeah,” I answered without looking at him.

He kept his eyes ahead while I stole a glance. That jawline, those lips, and those dark, unreadable eyes… He looked way too good. Way too much of everything. I caught myself staring and quickly turned away, licking my lips and muttering under my breath.

Then the car stopped. He pulled over.

My heart jumped. “Zane? Why are we stopping?”

He did not speak right away. He unbuckled his seatbelt and turned to face me, that crooked smirk forming.

“Time for some truth,” he said, calm and full of confidence.

I blinked. “Truth? About what?”

He leaned a little closer. “About how badly you want me.”

Wait, what?

“I… What are you talking about?” My voice shook just a bit.

He gave a small laugh and rested his hand on my knee. My body reacted in a flash.

“Emma, you have been holding it in for years,” he said, tilting his head. “But now? It shows.”

I needed to snap out of it. I used to be bold, at least with other people. Maybe it was time I stopped hiding. I took a breath.

“Zane, even if it is true, it doesn’t matter,” I said, trying to sound like I had control. “You do not feel the same. I am not your type. And, seriously, you are Maddie’s brother. Let’s just end this conversation.”

He looked at me for a beat. Then, with a quiet nod, he put his seatbelt back on and started driving again without another word.

Seriously? That was it? He started all this, dragged it out of me, and now… silence?

I bit down on my frustration and stared out the window. This ride needed to be over.

As soon as we got to my place, I unbuckled like my seatbelt was on fire.

“Thanks,” I muttered, stepping out before he could speak again. I just needed to breathe.

I climbed the stairs, opened the door, and stepped inside. But before I could close it, Zane pushed it open and came in like he lived there.

Of course. Perfect timing, Zane. What better way to calm my wild thoughts than to have you in the same room, next to my bed? He shut the door behind him.

“Who said I never saw you like that?” he said, casually, as if he hadn’t just thrown a grenade at me. I stopped walking.

“What?” I spun to face him. “You don’t. You’ve never looked at me that way. And come on, let’s be real. I’m not even close to your type. So, whatever this is? Just quit playing.”

I put a hand on my hip, trying to sound confident even though my heart was pounding like crazy. But he was staring at me like he was starving.

He stepped closer, placed his hand on my waist, and leaned in. His breath brushed my ear.

“Maybe you just never noticed me watching.”

Another wave of goosebumps. What was that even supposed to mean? I had always been invisible to him, background noise. I took a step back. Then another. I needed space before I did something stupid.

“Zane, what is this? Are you bored? Is this your new hobby, messing with me for laughs?”

His grin grew. “Who said I’m joking?”

I narrowed my eyes. “Why else would you be saying this?”

He stepped even closer. “Maybe because I want you.”

My brain stopped. Move, Emma. Say something. But I just stood there, frozen, as he leaned in and brushed his lips over mine. I gasped. A soft, embarrassing sound slipped out. But instead of kissing me, he leaned back to my ear.

“See you around, sexy,” he growled, then turned and walked toward the door.

“Absolute jerk!” I yelled after him.

He only looked over his shoulder with that smug grin. “I know. You like it. See you soon.”

And just like that, he was gone. I stood there, mouth open, heart racing, body on fire. What just happened? Was he serious? Was he messing with me? And what the hell did “see you soon” mean?

I groaned, tossed my hands in the air, and stormed into my room. Ripped my clothes off, threw on my pyjamas, and dove into bed, but sleep was nowhere near.

Then my phone buzzed. An unknown number sent me a message.

“Don’t worry. We’ll finish what we started.”

I shot upright. Zane? How the hell did he get my number?

I quickly typed back:

“ Where did you get my number? And finish what?”

The reply came fast:

“I asked your sister. Told her you left something in my car 😉

We’ll pick up where we stopped. You’ll finally get what you’ve been wanting.

Night, x”

I stared at the screen. Then replied:

“Glad you think so. Night.”

And that was it. I dropped the phone on my nightstand, flipped it to silent, and laid back. He probably won’t text again. Probably won’t say another word. I’ll see him at Maddie’s, and we’ll pretend this never happened. Because that is what he does, he plays with girls. And I’m just the next one he’ll ruin.

  • Wetting The Bed Of My Best Friend's Brother    Having a baby

Zane’s POVThe news that Emma and I were going to have a baby was still racing through me, and I had been wide awake since five in the morning. Emma was still asleep, breathing softly beside me, and I did not want to disturb her by tossing around. Since sleep refused to return, I decided to get dressed and visit my parents’ graves. It had been too long since I last went, at least three months, even though I used to visit every month. On the way, I stopped to buy some fresh flowers. When I arrived, I saw that someone else had already been there. Maddie must have visited recently, because her flowers were sitting neatly at the headstones. I walked over slowly, set my own bouquet down, and lowered myself to the grass in front of them.“Hi Mum. Hi Dad. I am sorry it has been so long,” I said quietly. “Life has been a little overwhelming, but in a good way. I miss you both more than I can say. I wish you could be here to share this happiness with me. At least I have Emma, and Maddie too, w

  • Wetting The Bed Of My Best Friend's Brother    Are you saying… you are pregnant?

Emma’s POV“Oh my God, Emma, you are pregnant!” Maddie squealed, jumping in excitement when all three tests showed the same result. Eight to ten weeks pregnant.I stared at the sticks in disbelief, my mouth slightly open. Pregnant? Was this really happening? I had not expected this, at least not so soon.“Emma? Are you alright?” Maddie asked, giving my arm a gentle shake.I turned to her, finding her face lit up with a huge smile. She was thrilled, while I could barely process the words.“Yes… oh my God, a baby,” I finally managed to say, my voice breaking as the truth sank in. “Zane and I are going to have a baby.” The tears slipped out before I could stop them.“Are those happy tears?” Maddie asked.I nodded, too overwhelmed to speak, and smiled through the wetness on my cheeks. Maddie squealed again and wrapped her arms around me, hugging me so tightly I could hardly breathe.“A baby, Emma. You are going to have a baby,” she said, her eyes filling with tears too. She looked as thou

  • Wetting The Bed Of My Best Friend's Brother    At least our baby would share our wedding day

Emma’s povToday was my final fitting for the wedding dress. The big day was only two weeks away, and the time had gone by so quickly. Everything was already organised, and Zane had taken on so much that the stress had not fallen fully on me.“I still cannot believe that in just two weeks we are going to be sisters-in-law,” Maddie said with a wide smile. She had come along with me, of course. Maddie and my other bridesmaid already had their dresses chosen, and the men had their suits ready too. The only thing left was to make sure my gown fit exactly as it should. I had chosen a strapless, sweetheart dress with delicate fabric, floor length, with a slit along one side. It was simple but still elegant.“Ready for your last fitting?” Louisa asked brightly. She owned the bridal shop and had been helping me for months. She had been patient, kind, and made the whole process so much easier.“Yes! I cannot believe the wedding is in two weeks,” I squealed, and the three of us laughed together

  • Wetting The Bed Of My Best Friend's Brother    This is going to be perfect

Zane's pov Emma and I were on our way to the Swan Inn for a viewing. Thankfully, the date we wanted was available, and the owner had told us we could come by early in the morning. As we pulled up, I could not help but stare at the building. It was just as breathtaking as the photographs, and just as my parents had always described it.“Are you all right, love?” Emma asked, reaching for my hand.“Yes… I just feel overwhelmed being here,” I admitted, glancing at her.“I understand. Do you want to sit for a little while before we go in?” she asked gently.I nodded, needing a moment to take everything in. I had never seen the place in person, only in pictures, and through the stories my parents shared. It had been over thirty years, closer to thirty-five, really, since they were here. Despite the passing of time, the inn looked almost unchanged, just with a few updates. I never imagined I would be sitting outside it now, beside Emma, planning our wedding. I knew it would bring memories o

  • Wetting The Bed Of My Best Friend's Brother    I cannot wait until you are my wife

Emma’s POVOur wonderful weekend away had finally come to an end, and I still kept waiting to wake up and realise it had all been a dream. It had been that unbelievable. We were engaged, actually engaged. It felt wild, but in the best possible way.“You are doing it again,” Zane said with a laugh as we drove home. His hand rested warmly on my knee.“Doing what?” I asked, turning to look at him.“Smiling and mumbling to yourself. You have been like that all weekend,” he said with a grin.“I have?” I asked with a small laugh.“Yes, you have, my love,” he replied.I lifted his hand to my lips and kissed his knuckles. “That is because I am happy,” I said with a wide smile.“Me too, sweetheart,” he answered, smiling just as brightly.I was still trying to get used to the idea that soon he would be my husband. My husband. The thought felt almost unreal. On top of that, Maddie would soon be my sister-in-law. When we video called her, she had squealed with excitement, practically bouncing wit

  • Wetting The Bed Of My Best Friend's Brother    Are you ready for dessert, baby?

Zane’s povTonight had been incredible. Emma and I were lying on a blanket by the water, her head resting on my chest. I smiled down at her. She was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. It still felt impossible that she was mine.“Are you ready for dessert, baby?” I asked.“Yes, please,” she giggled.I leaned down and kissed her. “Wait here and enjoy the view. Do not move, okay?” I said.Emma nodded, though she looked a little puzzled by how insistent I was being. I did not explain. Instead I stood up and went inside. I gave myself a moment to breathe, then picked up the chocolate cake I had bought, Emma’s favourite. That was not the only thing I took. I had another gift for her, something more personal. I paused, breathed again, and walked back outside.Emma was standing by the water, staring out at the sea, lost in her own small world. Perfect.I moved quietly back to her, set the cake down on the table and came up behind her. I closed my eyes for a moment, telling myself I cou
