LOGINSally’s POV.
Today was surprisingly a success, and Cold actually listened. I glanced at him as he drove. Eyes fixed on the road as he bobbed his head to the music. He’s actually smarter than he lets on. If only he would just be serious for once. A few minutes later, he pulled up in front of my dorm. I unbuckled my seatbelt and reached for the door. “So…” he said. I looked at him. “So?” He grinned. “Aren’t you going to invite me to your room?” “No…why would I do that?" He chuckled. "Someday, Sally.” I rolled my eyes and stepped out of the car. He winked before putting the car back in drive. “Goodnight, love.” I rolled my eyes. “Goodnight.” His car pulled away, and I turned toward the dorm building. I had barely taken a few steps when a girl walking past me glanced in the direction Cole had disappeared. “Is that your boyfriend?” I stopped. “What?” She giggled. “The guy that just dropped you off.” “Hell no!” She laughed. “Okay, okay.” Then she walked away before I could say anything else. I stood there for a second, completely confused. Boyfriend? Cole? Absolutely not. I shook my head and headed inside. When I opened the door to my room, Ava was already back. She was sitting on her bed with her legs crossed, phone pressed against her ear. “Babe, I told you, I’m not mad.” She laughed. I quietly dropped my bag beside my bed. She glanced at me and smiled before turning her attention back to the call. She looked so happy. So…in love. Oh well, I changed out of my clothes and into my nighties. Just a shirt and loose pants to bed. I rubbed my eyes… Wearing glasses has never been easy. I had worn them since fourth grade; the doctor had said it would correct my sight. Surprise surprise! Years later I literally have to squint till my eyes are almost closed before I can see the person waving at me from a few feet away. I turned on my phone and glanced at the message Justin had sent earlier. ‘I am sorry; I'm just really worried about you. I am proud of you. Always. Xoxo.’ I smiled. Of course. I typed into the keyboard. ‘It’s okay, really.’ “Heyy!” Ava dropped her phone and turned to me. She wore pink Hello Kitty pajamas. “You are glowing.” I frowned. “Me? Come on.” “Yes, you.” She sat up straighter and looked at me properly. “Are you going to the party?” I shook my head. “No.” “Why?” “I don’t have anything to wear.” She stared at me like I had just said something completely ridiculous. “Sally.” “What?” “It’s one of the biggest parties on campus.” I shrugged. “So?” “You have to go.” “I don’t think so, Ava." She pouted and folded her arms across her chest. I laughed. “Ava, I literally just got here.” “Exactly. Which means you need to have some fun.” I rolled my eyes. “I don’t even know what people wear to these things.” “That’s why you have me.” I smiled. “Are you going with your boyfriend?” She shook her head. “Nope.” I looked at her. “Why not?” “He’s not here; he’s all the way in Seattle.” “Wow.” She picked up her phone and glanced at the screen. “He doesn’t really like me going to these parties.” I raised my eyebrows. “Then maybe you shouldn’t go.” She stared at me for a second before bursting out laughing. “Girl, please.” I laughed too. “He’s not going to find out.” “Ava!” “What?” She shrugged. “I’m allowed to have fun.” I shook my head. “Oh well, I guess so.” She jumped off her bed and walked over to me. “Tell you what.” “What?” “We’ll go shopping tomorrow.” I looked at her. “For what?” “For your outfit, obviously.” “Ava…” “Nope. I’m picking it.” I laughed. “I don’t think that’s a good idea.” “It is an excellent idea.” She pointed at me. “I’ll help you pick the cutest outfit, and I promise I’ll let you do your own thing.” I narrowed my eyes. “What does that mean?” She grinned. “And you’re letting me do your makeup.” My eyes widened. “Absolutely not.” “Why?” “I don’t wear makeup.” “I noticed.” She said it so casually that I couldn’t help laughing. She grabbed my hands. “Come on, Sally. Just this once, and if you don’t like it, we could stay back and not go again.” I hesitated. My mom definitely wasn’t going to be happy if she found out I was going to some huge college party. She’d probably ask a hundred questions. Who was going? What time would I be back? Who was driving me? Who else would be there? And knowing Mum, she’d probably tell me not to go at all. I sighed. Maybe I shouldn’t. But I had already moved into the dorms. I had spent years doing exactly what everyone expected of me. Maybe one night wouldn’t hurt. I looked at Ava. “Okay.” She squealed and did a little dance on her tiptoe. “Really??” I nodded. “Can’t wait, you won’t regret it, I promise.” I watched her practically skip off to her bed. "Goodnight, Sal.” "Goodnight, Ava.” She turned off her nightstand and turned the other way. I glanced at my phone and typed in a message to Mom. “Goodnight, Mum, I love you.”Sally’s POV. Cole’s POV. “I…” I dried my wet hair lazily with a towel. My eyes moved from her then back to the file on my desk. “Oh shit.” I tossed the towel aside and hurried to the table. “The fuck are you doing snooping around in my room?" I picked up the file and tossed it into my desk drawer. My fingers slipped through my hair. I walked briskly to the door and shut it. I couldn’t risk the other guys listening in on my conversation. “It was open," she muttered. I glanced at her, annoyed. "And that gave you the permission to read it?!” “I am sorry, okay?” I sighed. “You weren’t supposed to see that.” I walked to my wardrobe and slipped on a white shirt. I hadn’t heard her come in, though I had been expecting her. This was the last thing I needed right now. I didn’t look at her. “You’re going to get kicked out?” Great, there she goes. “That’s none of your business.” Silence. “Why didn’t you tell me?” I scoffed. “What news, Cole Raven
Sally’s POV. I frowned. “Mine?” He stared at me blankly. “Yours?” “Yeah.” I smiled, suddenly feeling a little defensive. “Why?” He leaned back in his chair. “You are serious?” “Of course I am." I nudged my glasses back up on my face, studying him. I couldn’t understand why he looked so unsettled.“I’ve been wanting to move into the dorms for a while. Mom finally agreed.”“Your mom agreed?”I nodded.“Well… sort of.”He shook his head slowly.“This has Cole written all over it.”My smile disappeared.“Cole?”“Yeah.”He leaned forward.“Have you been hanging around him again?”I frowned.“Again?”“You know what I mean.”"No, Justin, I don’t… I told you... school project.” He sighed and rubbed the back of his neck.“I’m just saying, Sally. Cole isn’t exactly the person I’d want influencing you.”I stared at him.“Influencing me?”I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.“I wanted to move out. I made the decision.”“I know. I’m not saying you can’t make your own decisions.”“Then
Sally’s POV. We pulled up in front of the dorms. I honestly didn’t think I would get it this late; I had initially applied, and the rooms were completely filled up. I then applied for the students' waitlist, and apparently someone cancelled their housing contract. Yaaay. We took all the boxes out of the car and placed them on the floor. Dad leaned on the car with his hands in his pocket. He hasn’t aged a bit. I could see why Mom chose him. “Mom, Dad... thank you." I clasped my hands together. "We can take it from here.” Moms' face dropped. "You don’t want us to get you settled in?” I flashed a smile. "Don't worry about that; Micheal and Nora would take it from here.” “Oh…I was thinking…" “Let it be Olivia.” Dad finally spoke. An awkward silence settled over us for a moment. "Okayyy... we would be heading in now..." He glanced at Nora and picked up a box. “Nora?” Nora did likewise. “Take care of yourself, honey… and if you need anything… y
MOVE DAY. Sally’s POV. I couldn’t stay put; I looked at the ton of boxes I still hadn’t packed into the car. Micheal poked his head through the door. “Hey Sal, how are you feeling about your move?” I sank into the bed, burying my face in my palms. “I don’t know…what if I don’t like my roommate, or she doesn’t like me?"I inhaled. “What if this is a terrible decision?" “What if my grades go down and I have to come back after I have already gotten accustomed to the dorms!” "Sal...Sally...relax." Micheal walked into the room. "It's all in your head.” He sat beside me and gave my shoulder a squeeze. “You would do just fine; I am here, Nora is here… Justin is here and your new friend Cole.”He grinned. I side-eyed him. “This is you literally leaving your comfort zone, and I am super proud of you!” I sighed and laid my head on the bed, gazing at the ceiling. “What’s a little move, You are bigger than this…I am Sally, and I am going to do just fine.”Micheal punched the air. “T
Sally’s POV. I felt slightly different, like I could take on the world! I didn’t go home with Justin today; after his game, I insisted on taking the bus home. I greeted everyone who looked my way with a wide grin. Today was fun. I couldn’t remember the last time I laughed so hard. I kept replaying the afternoon in my head. The girls. The music. The stupid games. The lake.Even the way Cole had dragged me away from my bag like I was some child who needed supervision. For once, I hadn’t spent the entire day worrying about what time I needed to be home.I hadn’t checked the clock every thirty minutes.I hadn’t wondered if Mom would be angry.I had just… lived.I liked it a little too much. The sky had darkened. I plugged my AirPods in throughout the ride home. It has never been easy for me to make new friends, but today, I met Mitchelle, Amber, and Claris. The bus pulled up at the bus stop, and a little sadness crept up on me. I had to face what I ran away from earlier this morni
Cole’s POV. I sat up quietly on the edge of the bed. My eyelids felt heavy. I was in my room. I must have been very tired yesterday; I can’t remember falling asleep. “Cole” Shit, I forgot. Stella came over last night. As usual. “Stella.” I replied without looking back. She leaned fo
Immediately I slipped into the car beside Michael. He shot me a look. “What?” "Were you and Cole Hayman making out? You got two brothers in one night? Damn. "Teach me your ways, Sally." He started the engine. “Ewww no! We weren’t making out; in fact, nothing went as planned today.” He honke
Sally’s POV. Cole hovered over me; he was wearing a leather jacket with baggy jeans and a trucker hat. His dark brown hair fell across his face, a slight smirk on his lips. “Don’t you watch where you are…” He paused. “Oh, it's you." My brows furrowed. It's me? What is that even supposed to
Sally’s POV Butterflies, Those little creatures fluttered in my belly whenever I saw Justin. This was it! I was going to do it. I exhaled deeply, clutching the gift box I had particularly stayed up all night curating just for him. I was finally going to tell Justin how I have truly felt a
