FAZER LOGINMOVE DAY.
Sally’s POV. I couldn’t stay put; I looked at the ton of boxes I still hadn’t packed into the car. Micheal poked his head through the door. “Hey Sal, how are you feeling about your move?” I sank into the bed, burying my face in my palms. “I don’t know…what if I don’t like my roommate, or she doesn’t like me?" I inhaled. “What if this is a terrible decision?" “What if my grades go down and I have to come back after I have already gotten accustomed to the dorms!” "Sal...Sally...relax." Micheal walked into the room. "It's all in your head.” He sat beside me and gave my shoulder a squeeze. “You would do just fine; I am here, Nora is here… Justin is here and your new friend Cole.” He grinned. I side-eyed him. “This is you literally leaving your comfort zone, and I am super proud of you!” I sighed and laid my head on the bed, gazing at the ceiling. “What’s a little move, You are bigger than this…I am Sally, and I am going to do just fine.” Micheal punched the air. “That’s the spirit!” Nora walked in, clearing her throat. “Ummm, your parents are outside waiting.” She tucked her hair behind her ear. She only did that when she was nervous. I narrowed my eyes slightly at her. She wouldn’t look directly at Michael, and when she finally did, her eyes lingered for a second too long before she quickly looked away. Michael didn’t seem to notice. I waved it off. Instead, I grabbed the nearest box. “Let’s go.” Nora quickly moved aside to let me pass. I carried the box downstairs and stepped outside. Mom stood beside the SUV; immediately she saw me, and her face changed. “Oh, my baby.” She didn’t even let me put the box down before she pulled me into her arms. She kissed my forehead, then both my cheeks. “My baby is leaving me.” “Mom…” “You’re not so little anymore.” She held my face between her hands, studying me for way too long. He stood beside the SUV, watching us quietly. “Dad?” He gave me a small smile. “You’ll be fine, sweetheart.” I frowned. Dad was quiet, but these past few days had been different. I couldn’t tell if it was work, the move, or something else. Something just didn’t feel right. I flashed him a smile and walked over to him to give him a hug. “Thanks.” He gave my shoulders a light squeeze and turned towards the boxes. “Come on. Let’s get everything loaded.” A few minutes later, everything was packed. I took one last look at my room before getting into the car. It felt strange. This room had been my entire world for years. My book collection over the years. My neatly arranged shelves. My little jars of pebbles. My bed. Everything I knew. And now I was leaving it behind. I climbed into the back seat. Nora sat beside Micheal. She immediately shifted closer to the door, creating space between herself and Michael. Michael looked at her. She looked away. What’s with them? Mom climbed into the passenger seat while Dad started the engine. “Remember what we discussed.” I sighed. “Yes, Mom.” “Your grades come first.” “I know.” “Don’t stay out too late.” “Okay.” “Keep your room clean.” “I will.” “Don’t let anyone pressure you into doing anything you don’t want to do.” “I know, Mom.” “And call me every day.” “Every day?” “Yes. Every day.” I rolled my eyes. “Fine.” “And don’t give your roommate your things just because you feel bad saying no.” I nodded absentmindedly. “And don’t walk around campus alone at night.” “Okay.” “And if you ever feel uncomfortable, call me. I don’t care what time it is.” “Mom, I promise I’ll be fine.” She continued anyway. “Also, Sally…” I turned my attention back to her. “What?” She hesitated. Then she looked at me through the rearview mirror. “If you must…” I frowned. “If I must, what?” She cleared her throat. “You know…” I stared at her. She sighed. “Just be safe.” “Safe from what?” Michael suddenly started coughing. Nora covered her mouth, trying not to laugh. Mom glanced at Dad. Dad suddenly became very interested in the road. “Mom?” She lowered her voice. “If you must do anything… use protection.” My eyes widened. “Mom!” Michael burst out laughing. His face turned red. “Mum, you mean a condom!” Nora had a wide grin on her face. I sank lower into my seat, completely mortified. “I don’t even have a boyfriend!” Mom shrugged. “You’re moving into a dorm. You’re an adult. I have to tell you these things.” “Please stop.” Dad cleared his throat. “I think that’s enough.” “Thank you, Dad.” Mom turned back around. “I’m just saying…” “Mom!” She laughed. “Fine. Fine. I’ll stop.” I covered my face with both hands. I could already feel my ears burning. After a few seconds, the car went quiet again. I turned toward the window, watching the cars that breezed past. I hadn’t told Justin yet, not that I hadn’t seen him since then. It’s just… it never felt like the right time. I wanted to surprise him. He would be entirely shocked. Maybe with me closer to him and his after-school activities, he could finally look at me the way I want him too. A thread of hope formed in my chest. My lips curved into a smile.Sally’s POV. Today was surprisingly a success, and Cold actually listened. I glanced at him as he drove. Eyes fixed on the road as he bobbed his head to the music. He’s actually smarter than he lets on. If only he would just be serious for once. A few minutes later, he pulled up in front of my dorm.I unbuckled my seatbelt and reached for the door.“So…” he said.I looked at him. “So?”He grinned. “Aren’t you going to invite me to your room?” “No…why would I do that?" He chuckled. "Someday, Sally.” I rolled my eyes and stepped out of the car. He winked before putting the car back in drive.“Goodnight, love.”I rolled my eyes.“Goodnight.”His car pulled away, and I turned toward the dorm building.I had barely taken a few steps when a girl walking past me glanced in the direction Cole had disappeared.“Is that your boyfriend?”I stopped.“What?”She giggled. “The guy that just dropped you off.”“Hell no!”She laughed.“Okay, okay.”Then she walked away before I could say anyth
Cole’s POV. “I…” I dried my wet hair lazily with a towel. My eyes moved from her then back to the file on my desk. “Oh shit.” I tossed the towel aside and hurried to the table. “The fuck are you doing snooping around in my room?" I picked up the file and tossed it into my desk drawer. My fingers slipped through my hair. I walked briskly to the door and shut it. I couldn’t risk the other guys listening in on my conversation. “It was open," she muttered. I glanced at her, annoyed. "And that gave you the permission to read it?!” “I am sorry, okay?” I sighed. “You weren’t supposed to see that.” I walked to my wardrobe and slipped on a white shirt. I hadn’t heard her come in, though I had been expecting her. This was the last thing I needed right now. I didn’t look at her. “You’re going to get kicked out?” Great, there she goes. “That’s none of your business.” Silence. “Why didn’t you tell me?” I scoffed. “What news, Cole Raven
Sally’s POV. I frowned. “Mine?” He stared at me blankly. “Yours?” “Yeah.” I smiled, suddenly feeling a little defensive. “Why?” He leaned back in his chair. “You are serious?” “Of course I am." I nudged my glasses back up on my face, studying him. I couldn’t understand why he looked so unsettled.“I’ve been wanting to move into the dorms for a while. Mom finally agreed.”“Your mom agreed?”I nodded.“Well… sort of.”He shook his head slowly.“This has Cole written all over it.”My smile disappeared.“Cole?”“Yeah.”He leaned forward.“Have you been hanging around him again?”I frowned.“Again?”“You know what I mean.”"No, Justin, I don’t… I told you... school project.” He sighed and rubbed the back of his neck.“I’m just saying, Sally. Cole isn’t exactly the person I’d want influencing you.”I stared at him.“Influencing me?”I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.“I wanted to move out. I made the decision.”“I know. I’m not saying you can’t make your own decisions.”“Then
Sally’s POV. We pulled up in front of the dorms. I honestly didn’t think I would get it this late; I had initially applied, and the rooms were completely filled up. I then applied for the students' waitlist, and apparently someone cancelled their housing contract. Yaaay. We took all the boxes out of the car and placed them on the floor. Dad leaned on the car with his hands in his pocket. He hasn’t aged a bit. I could see why Mom chose him. “Mom, Dad... thank you." I clasped my hands together. "We can take it from here.” Moms' face dropped. "You don’t want us to get you settled in?” I flashed a smile. "Don't worry about that; Micheal and Nora would take it from here.” “Oh…I was thinking…" “Let it be Olivia.” Dad finally spoke. An awkward silence settled over us for a moment. "Okayyy... we would be heading in now..." He glanced at Nora and picked up a box. “Nora?” Nora did likewise. “Take care of yourself, honey… and if you need anything… y
MOVE DAY. Sally’s POV. I couldn’t stay put; I looked at the ton of boxes I still hadn’t packed into the car. Micheal poked his head through the door. “Hey Sal, how are you feeling about your move?” I sank into the bed, burying my face in my palms. “I don’t know…what if I don’t like my roommate, or she doesn’t like me?"I inhaled. “What if this is a terrible decision?" “What if my grades go down and I have to come back after I have already gotten accustomed to the dorms!” "Sal...Sally...relax." Sally’s POV. I felt slightly different, like I could take on the world! I didn’t go home with Justin today; after his game, I insisted on taking the bus home. I greeted everyone who looked my way with a wide grin. Today was fun. I couldn’t remember the last time I laughed so hard. I kept replaying the afternoon in my head. The girls. The music. The stupid games. The lake.Even the way Cole had dragged me away from my bag like I was some child who needed supervision. For once, I hadn’t spent the entire day worrying about what time I needed to be home.I hadn’t checked the clock every thirty minutes.I hadn’t wondered if Mom would be angry.I had just… lived.I liked it a little too much. The sky had darkened. I plugged my AirPods in throughout the ride home. It has never been easy for me to make new friends, but today, I met Mitchelle, Amber, and Claris. The bus pulled up at the bus stop, and a little sadness crept up on me. I had to face what I ran away from earlier this morni
Cole’s POV. I sat up quietly on the edge of the bed. My eyelids felt heavy. I was in my room. I must have been very tired yesterday; I can’t remember falling asleep. “Cole” Shit, I forgot. Stella came over last night. As usual. “Stella.” I replied without looking back. She leaned fo
Sally’s POV. I spun around. Cole's arms were folded across his chest. “Ah! I see you've found it." He took a step forward and ripped the paper from Justin's fingers. “I could have sworn I dropped this somewhere?” Justin arched a brow. His jaw tightening, "So, why does it have my name over it
I brightened automatically. Cole’s jaw tightened for half a second, but he looked away before I could be sure. Justin’s voice made my chest tighten. I tried to sound normal, but my hands itched to fidget with my bag strap.” “Hey,” I answered. “Why weren’t you in class?” Justin asked. “I just…
