Chapter 10

ผู้เขียน: Moon Curve
I heard my blood pulsing in my ears. So, Gabriel didn't leave Sonia after all. Their kid was already almost a year old.

The video ended, but Gabriel turned off his phone as if nothing happened.

"Let me go, or he'll really hurt Sonia!" I yelled.

Gabriel was nonchalant as he said flatly, "She's not as important as you are, Maeve. I'd give up anything for you."

I was stunned by the obsessive gleam in his eyes. He was out of his mind.

The van sped forward. Suddenly, a motorbike flew out of the junction. Bullets were shot through the van windows, shattering glass. Gunshots rang through the air around us.

Gabriel and Damian were hellbent on killing each other. After all, Gabriel had breached Damien's turf.

Gabriel had no choice but to retreat with me in tow. He hauled me backward, made a left, then a right. Eventually, we ran into a narrow alley.

He'd taken a bullet to the abdomen, but he still comforted me. "Don't be scared, Maeve. I'll take you home."

Gabriel's arm, which had been reaching out to stop Sonia from leaving, fell and hung loosely at his side. A long pause later, he suddenly let out a hysterical roar. What had he done?…I was in the hospital in Greenburg for nearly three months. It took seven surgical procedures to fix my broken fingers. Every time I was woken up by the pain, I would find myself heading up to the hospital rooftop to stare into space. That was where I met Damian Jesselton. He'd made a bet with others that resulted in him breaking a leg during a race. He'd snuck away from his attending physician and come up to the rooftop to indulge in beer.I asked him if he'd won the bet, and he laughed as he said good-naturedly, "Of course I did. By 0.01 seconds too! As if I'd lose, lady."On the day I was discharged from the hospital, Damian tugged my arm and handed me a love letter, blushing like a schoolboy. At that moment, the heart that I thought had long stopped beating over stuff like this began to thump

  • What Was Once Mine   Chapter 8

In the past, Gabriel might have been thrilled that Sonia wanted to marry him. But now, he felt only annoyed. If he were to marry Sonia, he wouldn't stand a chance at patching things up with Maeve. He sat on the couch and pulled Sonia into his arms. "The cases have been piling up at work, so I haven't been my best self. That must have gotten to you, huh?"Sonia forced a smile. "I asked when you were planning to go and get our marriage license. I don't want to be a sinner, Gabriel. If you don't like me anymore, tell me, and I'll leave quietly."Gabriel's expression froze before he placated her. "Tomorrow, alright? We'll get our marriage license tomorrow. Don't worry about this anymore and focus on the baby, okay?"Sonia lowered her gaze, hiding the forlorn look in her eyes as she hummed softly in response. She waited until Gabriel left for work. She didn't stay at home and instead headed straight for Fuller Corporation. The company had the same name she'd seen on Gabriel's work docu

  • What Was Once Mine   Chapter 7

Maeve had been holding an umbrella and wearing a white dress the first time Gabriel met her. She was like an angel who'd walked into his life unannounced. She'd only been 18 then, and Gabriel had done everything he could to keep her by his side. She was like his only saving grace, the one good thing in his world full of bloodshed and darkness. She was different from the others, and it was only when Gabriel was with her that he felt any sense of peace.Gabriel had once sworn to love and protect her for the rest of his life. When did that change?Did he stop loving and protecting Maeve after she grew up and took over his work for him? She'd stood between him and the dark side of the world, even if it meant getting blood on her pure white dress. She'd started to become more and more like Gabriel. The emotions Gabriel had repressed and tossed to the back of his mind washed over him like a tidal wave. At that moment, he wanted only one thing—for Maeve to come back and stay with him.

Gabriel's finger hovered above the "answer" button on his phone screen. After spending so many years in the underworld, he'd developed an extremely sharp sixth sense when it came to danger. He had a feeling that if he picked up the call, he might just end up losing something very important.Nonetheless, he put the call through. His assistant's frantic voice rang out from the other end of the line. "Mr. Fuller! Mrs. Fuller's missing! We can't find her anywhere! But I did find her previous medical records. I think you should take a look at them."Gabriel was about to hang up when his assistant added, "There's something else, Mr. Fuller. You and Mrs. Fuller already filed for divorce a month ago."…Sonia woke up to find Gabriel sitting on the balcony, staring blankly into space with cigarette butts littered by his feet. Had something happened? Was there something wrong with the case he'd been working on? Being an inspector was hard work, after all.Gabriel heard the noise and glan

In the hospital, Gabriel got down on one knee at Sonia's bedside and apologized to her the moment she gained consciousness. He blamed himself for not protecting her.She shook her head, then asked about me. "What happened to the lady who got kidnapped with me? Is she okay?"Gabriel stroked her hair gently. "How are you so kind-hearted? I love this side of you."Sonia couldn't help blushing at his words. She was so flustered that she forgot about me completely after that.Gabriel waited until Sonia had fallen asleep before leaving the hospital room and issuing one of his subordinates with orders. "Have a set of divorce papers drawn up for me. The terms should state that 40% of my shares will go to Mrs. Fuller. Also, have her clean her stuff out of the master bedroom—Sonia's timid and doesn't like sleeping alone."His subordinate was a little baffled by the instructions. Last he'd checked, the divorce papers had already been filed and were waiting to be finalized by the court. Had
