Chapter 6

Aldo yanked me by the collar and shoved me toward Brandon with such force, as if he were releasing a lifetime of pent-up rage.

I clawed frantically at his sleeve, trying to pull back.

"Jessica is playing you, Dad! Don't you know she's with Brandon?" I screamed, desperate to snap him back to reality.

Aldo merely froze for a second. "Christine, don't you dare try to smear Jessica's name like that! She's sweet, innocent, and pure—nothing like you and your mother."

Turning to Brandon, he added,

With a high-pitched shriek, Jessica was knocked to the floor, her heavily contour-sculpted nose crooked from the blow. She scrambled back to her feet, lunging at Aldo with her sharp, manicured nails bared."Screw you! You think a washed-up geezer like you is worth my time? You reek of an old man, and it's fucking repulsive!" she spat. "Getting in bed with me was the luckiest moment of your miserable life."A broke loser like you wouldn't get a taste of this in a million years. Who do you think you are, putting your hands on me? You limp-dick leech, you're not even half a real man!"Her screams turned increasingly vicious, and her attacks grew even nastier. She straddled Aldo, gouging at his face until there wasn't a patch of unblemished skin left. But Aldo was a grown man. After taking the initial beatdown, he shook off the shock, snapped, and delivered another thunderous backhand that sent Jessica crashing back down."You crazy bitch, you dare touch me? I'll teach you a good les

Just make sure you keep your promise."Without giving me so much as a backward glance, he grabbed Jessica's hand and turned to walk out. Behind me, Brandon let out a vile, sleazy chuckle. He leaned in close, his foul breath, a nauseating mix of cheap booze and stale cigarette smoke, fanning across my neck. A cold shudder ran down my spine, and a wave of raw terror hit me like never before.Right then, the heavy doors flew wide open. A squad of s

I trusted that Aldo could handle it.Before meeting my mother, he had been a nobody without a dime to his name. But Teresa Sterling saw potential in him and gave him her complete trust. She always said he was exceptionally capable and just needed a break. After they got married, Aldo proved himself through hard work and talent.Even my grandfather, who had been skeptical of him before the wedding, ended up singing his praises.Aldo used to say Teresa was his soulmate, the one person who truly believed in him. He promised he'd give the two of us a lavish life all on his own. I had absolute faith in him.Once I changed into clean clothes and headed back to the room, I caught the muffled sound of voices coming from behind the doors."My dad said your loan is coming due soon," Brandon taunted. "If you don't have the cash to pay up, this hotel belongs to me. Daughter or sugar baby... I don't care what Christine is to you. As long as you hand her over to me, I might just give you a gra

Amid the chaos, the handle of the room door rattled and turned. A sudden hush fell over the room as everyone turned their eyes toward the doorway."I'd like to see who dares cause trouble on my turf."The man who stepped into the room stood tall and broad-shouldered. Though he was in his fifties, his sharp posture and tailored suit made him look barely forty."Dad!" Wrenching myself free from Javier's grip, I wiped away my tears and threw myself into Aldo Cooper's arms. "They were picking on me."He gently patted my back, soothing me with a warm, steady voice. "Don't be scared, Christine. With me here, everything's going to be fine."Javier quietly took a step back, desperate to blend into the wallpaper so Aldo wouldn't notice him. Meanwhile, I recounted everything that had just happened, laying out every horrific detail.Aldo's sharp, hawk-like gaze swept across everyone in the room."'Dad? Come on!" Brandon burst out laughing. "Christine, what is this, playing house? You can't

A wave of bitter sorrow washed over me.These were my classmates. Even after witnessing the truth with their own eyes, they still chose to spread rumors, frame me, and drag my name through the mud—all just to brown-nose a guy with money and power. And they were doing it for free, without Brandon even promising them a thing in return."They say the majority is always right. Christine, what do you have to say now?" Brandon sneered. "I'll give you two choices: become my side chick, or get down on your knees and lick Jessica's shoes squeaky clean."To tell you the truth, this hotel is going to be mine very soon. If you play your cards right, I might look out for you once I take over. Look at you. You must be desperate for cash. How about this? I'll bump your pay up by 20 dollars a day once I take charge."Everyone in the room erupted into boisterous laughter, praising him for his generosity while pressuring me to bow my head and apologize.I stood my ground, unable to comprehend what

  • What the Prom Queen Didn't Know   Chapter 2

Right after high school graduation, I left our class group chat.I did it for one reason: to dodge my classmate, Brandon Miller. He used to corner me after school every day. He relentlessly hit on me until graduation and spammed the group chat with embarrassing romantic gestures. The rest of our classmates just egged him on, playing wingmen and giving him cringey advice. A few even urged him to show up at my door and ask my parents for my hand in marriage.I was so sick of it that I dropped out of the chat altogether. Who would have thought that today, they'd turn around and play the victim first?I was just about to push back when the door to the suite clicked open."What's everybody chatting about? Sounds lively in here."Speak of the devil; it was Brandon. Despite the sweltering mid-summer heat, he was sporting a black trench coat and buffed-to-a-shine leather shoes.Above that monstrosity was a tower of hair gel holding up the same creepy, sleazy smirk I remembered."Man, t
