In that moment, the surrounding guests lowered their voices to whisper among themselves.

"How tragic. Their own flesh and blood, publicly cast out."

"She just wasn't born to wealth, I suppose. Three years back in the family, and she still reeks of small-town manners."

"Now look at Cathleen. She's someone with class. Exactly what you'd expect from the Newark family's careful upbringing."

I kept my head down, my shoulders trembling slightly.

Cathleen Newark thought I was crying. She gathered the hem of her six-figure haute couture dress and strode smugly over to me, her voice dripping with false gentleness.

"Abby, don't be sad. Even though Mom and Dad gave me the shares, we'll always be family. As long as you're willing, there will always be a place for you at the Newark family table."

My biological mother, Rita Rowan, stood nearby, her face twisted with disgust as she shielded Cathleen as though I carried some contagious disease.

"Cathleen, you're too kind! Why waste words on an ungrateful wretch like her?"

"Abby, let me make this clear: sign this family severance agreement, and from now on, if you cause trouble out there, don't even think of dragging the Newark family into it. Our family has only one heiress—Cathleen."

My biological father, Gary Newark, wore an expression of stern authority. He held a document he'd prepared ahead of time and looked at me coldly.

"Abby, this decision is for the good of the company. You lack ability, and you're narrow-minded. Handing the shares to you would only harm the company. Sign the papers. Let's at least leave each other some dignity."

Dignity? This family had the nerve to talk to me about dignity?

The original owner of this body had wanted that so-called dignity too badly. She had craved even a crumb of recognition from these parents. That was why she stayed up late fixing Cathleen's sloppy, error-ridden code.

That was why she ruined her eyes optimizing the company's systems. An IQ of 180, and she still ended up depressed and dead.

How could she ever have competed with Cathleen, blessed as she was by fortune itself?

Cathleen had a built-in charisma halo. All she had to do was get teary-eyed and shed a couple of crocodile tears, and no matter how outrageous her actions, everyone around would fall under her spell and defend her blindly.

No wonder the original owner of this body had wished away her family ties in exchange for… something else.

I took a deep breath. When I lifted my head again, my eyes were bloodshot, tears trembling on the verge of falling.

"Dad, Mom… are you really set on being this heartless?"

My voice cracked with misery, looking utterly pitiful.

A flash of smug triumph lit up Cathleen's eyes. She sighed. "Abby, don't make things harder for Mom and Dad."

With trembling hands, I took the document.

Originally, I'd been plotting how to bring the company down from within. But this? This was even better. They were handing me the ammunition themselves—and kicking out the only core technical expert they had.

Fine. If they wanted to stake everything on a talentless thief who could only plagiarize, I'd give them exactly what they asked for.

I picked up the pen. In front of the crowd, I signed my name on the severance agreement.

"Fine." My voice broke with fake sobs, but every word came out clear. "Since you don't want me, I'll leave."

Rita exhaled in relief, as if she'd finally scraped off a piece of chewing gum stuck to her shoe. "At least you have some sense left!"

Gary thought he could escape responsibility by committing Cathleen to a mental hospital? How naive.I filed a formal lawsuit against Cathleen for kidnapping and extortion—as the victim.Sure, the Newark family produced a so-called "mental illness certificate." But I hired the top legal team in the country. And the video evidence I provided showed Cathleen thinking clearly, acting with clear purpose. Nothing like a psychotic episode. In the courtroom, Cathleen sat in an orange prison uniform, her hands cuffed. She stared at me in the plaintiff's seat—polished, untouchable—and wept her tears."Abby! I curse you! You'll die a horrible death! You already left—why did you have to come back and destroy me?!"She howled like a wounded animal.I looked back at her, calm and expressionless."I didn't destroy you. Your own greed and cruelty did. If you'd just stayed in your lane, even after I left, you could have gone on playing the rich heiress. Too bad. The human heart is a bottomless p

One week later, at the Newark family villa. The once-magnificent mansion now lay in shambles. Priceless antique vases had shattered across the floor. The servants had long since packed their bags and fled. Even the security guards at the gate were nowhere to be seen.Gary sat on the living room sofa, his hair turned gray, looking as though he'd aged a decade overnight. To plug the gaping hole in the company's finances, he'd sold off every property, every car, every share of stock he owned. He'd even mortgaged the villa itself. But it was like pouring a cup of water into a burning building.Rita sat on the floor, her hair a wild mess, wailing at the top of her lungs, "Why is my life so miserable?! Gary, you useless failure! How could you let the company go under?!""Shut up!" Gary's eyes went bloodshot. He backhanded her across the face. "If you hadn't spoiled that useless daughter of yours, the company would still be standing!"The slap stunned Rita into silence. Then the two of

I strode out of the warehouse, the sunlight behind me blinding and bright.Behind me, the three members of the Newark family stewed in endless darkness and fear.I didn't waste any time after leaving. For a family as rotten to the core as the Newarks, physical punishment alone wasn't enough. I needed to destroy what they truly valued—power and wealth.Back at my place, I fired up my computer. That ten million had already been laundered clean through a series of offshore accounts.Using the built-in advantages from the Quick Transmigration Bureau, I started shorting Newark Group stock like crazy on the secondary market. At the same time, I packaged up the edited video evidence—Cathleen's face blurred out, but her voice and key details intact, along with the truth behind the Newark Group's system collapse—and sent it straight to every media outlet known for digging up scandals. That night, X exploded.#NewarkFamilyFakeHeiressHiresKillers#RealHeiressIsTheRealTechGenius#Newark

Half an hour after the livestream cut out, Gary and Rita stormed into the warehouse like madmen, dragging a small army of bodyguards behind them. The moment they stepped through the door and saw the wounded rolling on the floor and Cathleen trembling in the corner, Rita let out a piercing wail. She threw herself at her daughter."My precious Cathleen! Look what she did to you! Does it hurt?"Cathleen, now that her backup had arrived, cranked up the waterworks. "Mom! Abby is a monster! She tried to kill me!"Gary's face turned the color of forged iron. He jabbed a finger at me—I was sitting on an oil drum wiping my hands—and roared, "You animal! How could you do this to your own sister?! Where's your humanity?"Rita piled on with her own venom. "I always knew you were a curse! We never should have claimed you in the first place! Call the police! We're calling the police! Lock her up and throw away the key!"Watching these parents twist black into white, I couldn't help but laugh.

"Abby… Abby, I was wrong! I don't know what came over me! Please, just let me go!"Cathleen dropped to her knees and kowtowed frantically, her forehead soon split and bleeding.I grabbed a fistful of her meticulously styled hair and dragged her like a dead dog to a battered table in the middle of the warehouse."Let you go? When I begged you to let me go in that freezing attic, what did you do?"I pulled out my phone, adjusted the angle, and didn't call the police. What I had in mind would make her wish I had.My fingers flew across the screen. I hacked straight into the Newark Group's emergency board meeting.Up on the top floor of the Newark Group tower, Gary and Rita were already drowning in front of a room full of furious shareholders."Gary! Can the system be restored or not? If not, step down immediately!""The stock has hit the limit-down! Who's going to cover our losses?"Gary mopped his forehead. "Everyone, just give me a little more time. Cathleen is working on—"T

Of course, I knew Cathleen wouldn't let things end there. But I didn't expect her to move so fast—or play so dirty. On my way back from the bank after wiring the funds, a plain white van with no license plates suddenly cut off my taxi. Several men in black ski masks piled out, yanked open the door without a word, and pressed an ether-soaked rag over my mouth and nose.I held my breath and played along, pretending to pass out. I didn't mind playing the bait if it meant trapping the rats. When I came to, I found myself in an abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of town. The air stank of grease and mildew.Rough hemp rope bound me to a rusty iron chair. Seven or eight burly men with clubs stood around me. And Cathleen loomed above, looking down like she'd already won."Abby. Look at you now."She twirled a folding knife in her hand, every trace of fake kindness ripped from her face. Underneath was something ugly and vicious."What's the password?
