Cole woke up first the next day to Karen trying to move closer to him. The movements had been responsible for waking him up and he was still uncertain of his location and regained awareness after a few blinks. He was sure by now that Karen would be back to her senses.
Her hand was around his waist and trying his best to be careful while he sat up, he moved her hand away as gentle as he could manage.
He scanned the wall to see if he would catch the sight of a wall clock nearby. There was none around and he shrugged at it.
He tried to remember where he had left his phone and decided it was in the living room. They were both still naked and had the blanket that was partially around her leg.
A small groan came from her and that froze him to the bed for a few seconds until he regained awareness of his surroundings and snapped himself to reality, sighing in relief that she was still asleep.
He h
Cole was still coughing but he tried to pay attention to where she was going, wondering if she was leaving him all by himself. She returned after a few seconds with bottled water and handed it to him. "Here you go." She handed out to him but by then his coughing had seized."What the heck was that about? Are you okay at all?" She wondered, unable to hide how she felt."I'm fine." He nodded, trying to get her to believe that everything was going on in fine for him."You fucking coughed out blood, how on earth can you say you are fine?!" She couldn't believe her ears. He must have thought she was such a fool."Alright." Cole sighed and sunk further into his seat. He framed his head in her direction and sighed a second time. "I have hemoptysis.""Oh my God." Karen's hands went straight to her mouth. "H..how long has this been? Is it life threatening or non massive?" She found
"What?" Karen stared blankly at Hannah, not knowing how best to answer the question."I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend you in any way." Hannah was quick to apologise in case she had taken things too far with her question."Its okay." Karen assured her, trying to act un affected by the question although it had played a major impact on her emotional well being and state of mind. "You can take your leave now, don't worry about anything.""Okay ma'am." Hannah stood to her feet. "Thank you for having this conversation with me." If there was anything, Hannah was truly grateful that Karen had specifically chosen to talk to her about it."Thank you for listening." Karen said.Hannah widened her eyes when she was no longer looking at Karen. What had come over the frustrated woman she had met the other day? When Karen was done with her activities for the day, she packed up and lef
"I was thinking the same thing, if I have to be honest." Cole began. "Why don't we just let things play out the way they want to rather than question it hmm?" He suggested and she nodded against his chest in understanding."Okay." She said and stood to her feet, "let us cook something to eat, what do you think?" She said."Alright ma'am." Cole stood up after her. "I think I have some good news for you." He said when they got to the kitchen."And what news is that?" Karen wondered, pulling all the food items out of the bag.Cole scratched the back of his head nervously, "Lara was arrested today.""What?! That is good news, why did you seem so nervous to say it?" She pulled her eyebrows in confusion, "I mean, you should be happy.""I'm trying to be. I think Lara is more obsessed than evil. She refuses to let go of the fact that we are no longer together. If I choose to be tr
"I am so sorry, that just came out. I don't know what I was thinking." Cole sighed, pulling away from her, sitting up and scratching the back of his head. He ran his fingers through his hair in this attempt and messed them up. He wasn't lying. It was not planned and there was no taking it back at the moment and so he could only hope that she understood his point of view."It's fine." Karen sat up as well, chuckled and brushed his hair back into one piece. "I think I have a solution to this problem." She teased him. That did a lot with calming him down. He read the ease in her tone and realized she hadn't taken his confession wrongly. Was it even a confession? He wondered."W..what are you talking about?" He squinted his eyes at her. He was curious to know, especially now that she wasn't biting his head off."I'm just trying my best to be thoughtful you know." She put on a smirk and knelt on the bed, drawing closer to him.
Karen was walking out of the organisation after closing hours when her phone rang in her handbag. It was a white leather one that matched her suit outfit. She stopped walking, zipped the bag open and pulled her phone out. She had been startled a little because she was not expecting the phone call. She rolled her eyes with a smile on her face when she saw who the phone call was from. It was none other than Cole. Typical.
"W..what?" Karen stuttered, staring blankly at Cole. She thought she must have heard him wrong and wondered if he knew what he was doing or saying.Cole raised one eyebrow at her and when she remained silent for a long time, he began to laugh at her facial expression. "I was just messing with you. You should have seen your face." He teased her.
"What are you doing?" Karen sat up in bed and looked up at Cole as he dressed up ,clearly ready to leave for somewhere. She stretched, I ywned and rubbed her eyes a little. Cole smiled at her and kept doing the buttons on his shirt while trying to focus on his reflection at the same time."Tell me, do I look good enough?" He turned around to look at her and his lips twitched into a smile when he cauht the look of confusion on her face and her furrowed eyebrows. "Why do you look like I stole something from you?""Where are you going?" She changed the format of her previous question."So today is my sister's baby shower and I'm supposed to be there." He explained, moving towards a drawer. He pulled it out and brought a colonge out."What time is it?" Karen looked around the room, trying to find a wall clock."Almost twelve." He sighed."Whoa." She gasped, wi
Barely anyone paid attention to their presence for a second when they got inside but a few heads turned their way. Karen calmed down in that stance, realizing that people didn’t really know so much about her like she thought and that made her feel relieved, a bit comfortable to be here again. She wondered where his mother could be, or what she was doing. Karen didn’t think she would have to bunp into her anytine soon because she was the expectant grandmother and should be busy with handling other activities at the nmoment.Karen was brought out of scrutiny when her phone began to ring in her purse. Cole had been paying attention to what she possibly felt like and so he was curious to know what phone call she was receiving.“Who's that?” He asked her while she unzipped her bag. She brought the phone out and put it up to her face.“My mom.” She answered him, sounding surpri
