LOGINSovia’s POV
"Congratulations, it is an honor for our daughter to marry into the Royal family." Marriage? Royal family? Everything about those words made my blood boil, but wasn't I supposed to be dead? "Sovia, why aren't you saying anything?" I snapped my eyes open, and the first thing that hit me was the blinding light. I blinked, noticing the wolf gothic carvings on the walls. This was the Moonshade ancestral hall. Why was I here? I tilted my head down to see if I was still alive. "Is this real?" My hands trembled as I placed them against my chest. The spot still stung like Janova’s claws were still deep inside. "I know, my dear. This is a dream come true. You've waited so long to be Alpha Janova’s mate. Now your engagement has finally been approved." That voice— I turned my head to the side and found my mother holding a paper, flashing it over my face. Engagement contract! A deep sense of dread gripped my throat. This was five years ago, the day the Royal family approved my marriage to that monster. Looking back, this was the day my life truly ended. Slowly I reached out, taking the contract. In my past life, this was the happiest day of my life. I got engaged to the man I had pursued since I was sixteen years old. I wasted ten good years with Janova in my past life. "What a joke!" I mumbled, squeezing the papers hard as tears started dripping from my face. My mother gasped beside me. "Look, tears of joy… our Sovia is so well-mannered, as everyone in Babel State knows how much she loves…" Rip! Rip! Rip! Mumbling started coursing through the air, chairs scraping the floor as the elders shifted uncomfortably. I didn't care. The Moon Goddess has given me a chance to rewrite my fate. This time, I won't make that mistake. Tossing the paper right in front of the woman I called my mother, I frowned. "When did I say I wanted to marry the second prince?" My mother's mouth fell open. She turned toward the rest of the family. "Umm… this is a misunderstanding…" " I have no intention of marrying Prince Janova. Not in this life or the next." My mother stumbled back, holding onto her chest. "You…" "What's going on?" "I thought the second lady from Moonshade was proper and well-behaved. I guess it's just rumors." Proper? Well-behaved? More like a pathetic puppet. My mother grabbed my hand, panting. "Sweetheart, apologize to the elders and stop acting stubborn. This isn’t you." Slowly I placed my hand on hers, then squeezed. "Your Sovia's dead." Leaning closer, I whispered softly, "I'm Wrath—your undoing." She froze, pulling away from me as sweat pooled at the corners of her head. ***** "Go inside!" Nicola, my nanny, shoved me inside in a harsh tone. Her nails scraped against my flesh. After tearing the engagement contract, Mother dragged me off after appeasing the Lockham elders. Even if I go through hell itself, I must change my fate. "Kneel!" I turned, locking eyes with Nanny Nicola. She was the lady in charge of taking care of me—or at least that was what I thought. Now, looking at my past life, I realized that she was my mother's leash. She followed me around until I got married to Janova, even visiting from time to time. I was home-schooled, with no friends. Maybe that's why I fell in love with the first boy I met. If I wanted to break my mother's hold over me, I would have to start by getting rid of Nanny Nicola. "Didn't you hear what she said?" "You're just a servant in the Moonshade pack house. Who are you to give me orders." Nanny Nicola frowned,"How dare you talk back to your elder. I practically raised you." Yes, and that's why I was so dumb, and pathetic. Click! Click! I kept my gaze down as my mother moved closer. Then she stopped. "Explain yourself, Sovia. How dare you disgrace your mother like this?" When I didn't answer, she lifted her hand, wanting to strike me, but I grabbed her palm. Nanny Nicola gasped. My mother’s eyes widened. She wasn’t my mother? Now I could understand why she treated me so differently from Lydia. "Wow, you have really grown, young lady," she snarled, her blue eyes glimmering. Then I felt a prickling on my skin. It must have been so long, I had forgotten what she felt like—my wolf. That's right. In my past life, I sacrificed my wolf so Janova could have the strength he needed to defeat Prince ZadeKiah. "Bring it," my mother groaned. I blinked, watching as Nanny dug her hand into her apron and took out a little lock, engraved with gothic carvings. No! My feet instinctively moved back as I watched my mother grab it from Nanny Nicola. "I've been going too soft on you," she groaned, her wolf energy shimmering as she infused the lock with her powers. My mother had a secret no one in the pack was aware of. She was a hybrid—part wolf and witch. That lock was my control switch! "Urgh!" Pain shot from my spine, and I arched until it rushed inside my head. "Do have any idea. What you just did. I trained you all these years. This is how you repay me?" She barked. My teeth clenched, a metallic taste flooding my mouth. Sweat stung my eyes as a sharp, electric hum raced behind my skull. My vision blurred as the room flashed red and black before I crumpled to the floor, gasping, trembling. It's been so long, and I had forgotten what it was like to have a thousand needles pierce through my spine. In my first life, my mother’s harsh treatment was to keep me in submission. To the outside world, she was an overprotective mother, but she was nothing but a monster. "Do you admit your wrong?" my mother hissed, eyes still shimmering blue, thumb hovering over the ancient artifact. Through heavy pants, I smirked, looking up at my mother. Janova helped me remove the needles after I was mated. I thought he helped me—saved me, but he was no different from the others. And I will kill every single one. “No!” I said through gritted teeth, dripping with blood. “I didn't do anything wrong. And I will never marry Janova.” My mother only nodded, her eyes shimmered with rage. “Alright, keep running your mouth.”Sovia’s POV“I will end your life.” Zedekiah's words echoed inside my head, dark and filled with warning. His intense gaze bore into mine as he laid those threats.Watching his retreating figure, a low, sly smirk curved upward. My hand reached over to touch my neck—it still burned from the impact of his hand.I hissed at the slight discomfort.Zedekiah Lockham might think I’ll be under his control, but I’ll have to give him that illusion… while making sure he becomes my personal blade. Why get my hands dirty when someone else can do it?With the way he threatened the entire state today—I definitely chose the right man.Someone who’s just like me—unapologetically existing.Being Zedekiah’s mate will instill fear. No one would dare touch me. Not even my mother.“Sovia! Sovia!”I turned to see Lydia rushing forward with her gown. Beside her was someone else—my mother. The moment we locked eyes, she paused. Nanny Nicola was also there.Only Lydia rushed forward. She grabbed me, yanking me
Zadekiah's POV Once again, I was the center of an absurd rumor. When they have problems, somehow I was just the right person to dump their waste on. And Sovia Henric was no different. Pregnant with my child? She was getting more creative with her lies. As she spoke, I narrowed my eyes from her face, slowly down to her pushed-up breasts struggling to fit in that snatched gown. I swallowed, biting the inside of my mouth and pressing my feet hard against the floor. My eyes found her waist, nicely curved by the Moon Goddess’s glory. If only she was really carrying my seed. Zion stirred, a low rise of energy shimmering through me as he agreed. We were definitely cursed. Sovia Henric was here, framing us, and all I could think about was how nicely she would look carrying my pups. Gods. When Sovia stood in front of me, I snapped out of my temporary delusion as she screamed those words: “If you want to hurt him… you’ll have to get through me first.” She… she was prot
Sovia’s POV“Zadekiah, is this true?”When I heard the king probing Zadekiah, everything inside me melted like ice. Then slowly, it started to burn.It was wrong to use him like this—putting him in trouble right in front of the Moon Chapel. I didn’t even bother to look at my parents; they must have been mortified already. If this failed and I had to go back home, I was as good as dead. My mother wouldn’t spare me, and my father—only the Moon Goddess knew what he was going to do.But I caught Lydia breathing hard on her seat, clutching the sides of her chair as she bored her gaze into me.Zadekiah didn’t say anything. He just stared at me, his face devoid of all feelings and emotions. Yet he still looked hellishly inviting in the most sickening way.“Zadekiah! If you don’t answer me at once—forget about becoming Alpha King!”I squeezed my palms, moving over to Zadekiah. Janova’s gaze followed as I stood in front of his brother. The frantic pacing of my heart was too loud for me to th
Zadekiah’s POV “Lady Blossom is waiting at the main hall.” Isaac announced. I didn’t respond. The pencil continued to stretch through lines of the portrait in front of me. In this fucking reality, this was one of the few things that gave me comfort. Isaac stepped closer over the desk, his voice dropping low. Not wanting to disturb the moment, he whispered, “Your Highness…” “I heard you the first time, Isaac.” Cutting him off, the room fell back into silence. Sovia was getting married to the man of her dreams the fucking golden prince of Babel. My hand clutched the pencil. I groaned. No doubt she was already marching down the aisle with her bouquet of roses, looking ethereal like she was never meant to walk this earth. “Your Highness, are you really not going to attend the wedding? The royal family will not be pleased.” “Do I look like I care?” I paused, arching a brow at Isaac. His head fell, both hands crossed behind his back. I resumed my sketch. Anyone would
SOVIA’S POV Ding Dong! My heart sank into my stomach as I heard the bells from the Moon Chapel. It was right at the center of Babel State. I could hear every sound echoing over and over. Today was my wedding to that monster. Two days ago, Zadekiah had turned me down. My mother must have gotten hold of the information. Guards patrolling along the hallway had increased. Everywhere I went, eyes were on me. She wasn’t wrong because last night I had planned to run away. Obviously it failed, because now I was here—trapped against my will. Now I didn’t have the luxury to hope that a miracle was going to happen. The door opened. I shut my eyes, hearing footsteps lining up from behind me. “My lady—it’s time to get dressed.” Nanny Nicola placed the wedding dress on the table. It was still the same stupid dress from my past life. I had tried to get Janova to pick something else that day, but he was so adamant on this one. Does it mean past events cannot be
SOVIA'S POVHas your life ever been so miserable that you prayed for death? Well, I have.In my past life, when things in my family got overwhelming and I couldn’t disappoint my mother, I secretly prayed for the moon goddess to take my life. But each time I woke up, it was still the same damn reality. The first time I saw Janova, all he brought me was peace. His calm soothed my wolf in ways no one has ever done. But that also turned out to be a joke. And it cost me everything.A tear slid from the corner of my eye as I stared at the man in front of me—Prince Zadekiah. At least if I died by his hands, Janova and Blossom wouldn’t win.A low chuckle rumbled from my mouth as I felt Zadekiah’s grip tighten, cutting off the air. His gray eyes highlighted with the shimmering glow from his wolf.He had the most beautiful eyes and seeing them so up close, I couldn’t help but wonder where I had seen them before.Tears slid down my cheeks and thumped onto Zadekiah’s hand. His throat di
Sovia’s POV “Interesting?” He always made it seem like he could see through my petty schemes. To him, it was like a joke that wasn’t worth his time. Every glance, every interaction stemmed purely from curiosity. After taking his sip, he placed the glass back on the table and slowly ran his
Sovia’s POV“He’s not the one I love,” I stated bluntly.I could smell the sudden shift in the atmosphere—a heavy pull that made the air tighten around us.Janova’s eyes narrowed,. “Sovia Henric, is something going on?”A lot of things went wrong in my past life. Mistakes were meant to teach us, not
Sovia’s POVIf he married Blossom, my death was still going to come. But would Janova still end my life?Leaving my life to fate was impossible.I would stick to what I knew — a few years from today, I would be dead.“Happy birthday, my dear daughter.” It was my mother, grinning from ear to ear a
Zadekiah’s POV I had told myself that in this life, Sovia was not my problem. She was the reason I died. My treacherous half-brother had always sought my downfall. And eventually, he won. Because of that woman. My wolf—Zion—recoiled as the memory of our death pressed closer in our mind. I ha
