Jackie turned on her heel and walked away. She wanted nothing more now than to leave this place and what was supposed to be a family fun night turned into something else completely. What was with people judging her? Her ex-husband was fucking someone younger and everyone was saying he was the man. And yet it was so damn fucking taboo for her and it was teaching her kids the wrong thing. Why the fucking double standard? And if she was seeing someone older, it would be just as wrong, just on a different level. Jackie rolled her eyes as she spewed over it all.

A week later, Jackie was smiling at Bobby as she pulled his shirt on in his living room. They had a busy night ahead of them but they were still enjoying their high of the off-the-wall sex they just had. And it literally was. She had dropped the kids off for the weekend with their friends again and booked it over to Bobby’s place where she barely made it through the door before he had her pinned against it and was fucking her there. Jackie took another deep breath and turned as some people came up to the bar. She served them and once she was done, she cleaned up the area. She had to go back in and help Bobby that was her job, she thrived on being busy. And she knew she would be. She also knew that she had to bite her tongue because she was going to see a lot more. And she couldn’t, wouldn’t let Greg and his shit-talking intrude on her thoughts, she refused. So, with that, she walked back into the main bar, nodding at Buzz as he walked outside. She took to the side and watched as Bobby walked over, his hand resting gently on the small of her back. She smiled to herself at the care she saw in his eyes. “You okay, Jackie?” “Yeah, I’m good. Just...my own problems.” He frowned, obviously not happy with that response but she couldn’t help it, she couldn’t give him more, not now and not even later because he would think she was crazy and try to convince her she wasn’t.

Jackie sat back down in her chair and let out a whoosh of air. Even with her fuck ups with Greg, she wasn’t sure she had been called out. And oddly enough, she didn’t like it. She ran her hands over her face and turned her chair around, looking at the pictures on her wall. She had one with the kids that she loved and it always made her smile; this time wasn’t any different. She knew she was in the wrong, creating problems that weren’t really there based on past experiences. And at every turn, Bobby had shown her just how great and amazing he was. She had to face him, had to own up to her stupidness, no matter how hard this would be or how much she didn’t want to. If they wanted a true and honest chance at a relationship, she had to kick Greg out of her head and focus on Bobby, focus on how he made her feel, focus on the good, and forget the bad. “Any plans this weekend?” Jackie crossed her arms and looked at Greg, lifting a brow. She knew exactly what he was asking but she wasn’t going to give it to him. “Clean my house and work. I’m not like you, Greg; I don’t need to be screwing all the time.” Greg rolled his eyes but he couldn’t come back with anything as the kids came bouncing down the stairs and launched themselves at him. It broke her heart to see how much they loved their dad and yet he made no real effort to be with them. Jackie glanced at Bobby, her hand rubbing his back. They both knew exactly what the call was over, a rather sad fact and one she couldn’t ignore. She turned around and answered the phone while his arm wrapped around her waist, pulling her back to his chest. She couldn’t fight the smile, even as she hit the green icon and brought the phone to her ear. “Yes, Greg?” she mumbled, rubbing her eyes with her free hand. “Are you awake?” “I wasn’t since it was a late night at the bar but your call woke me up. What can I do for you?” “We have a problem.” Those words, how she hated them; she had heard them countless times before. Her smile vanished and she sat up, not meaning to shove the arm away but she couldn’t think when he was holding her. “What do you mean, WE have a problem? We don’t have a problem, however, you do it sounds like?” “Do you have to be that way?” he grumbled and she grinned.
