Chapter 3

I called my best friend, Lilith, and asked her to come pick me up.

In the car, she looked at my sorrowful expression and asked,

“Did Edward hurt you?”

I stayed silent for a long time.

Then I whispered,

“Edward cheated on me.”

Lilith’s eyes widened.

She looked as if she couldn’t believe what she had just heard.

But yes…

Even I found it impossible to believe.

Edward loved me so much that he would sacrifice his own life for me.

Even now, I still remembered the time I was kidnapped by his greatest enemy.

They threatened Edward, forcing him to choose between his own life and mine.

I cried and begged him not to do it.

But Edward only smiled gently at me.

He told me not to cry.

Then he drove a dagger into his own chest.

If the rescue team hadn’t arrived in time…Edward would no longer exist in this world.

I cried and called him stupid.

His eyes turned red as he hugged me tightly, as if he was afraid of losing the most precious thing in his life.

“Monica, I don’t care about anything else.”

“As long as you’re safe, that’s all that matters.”

We followed Edward to a hotel.

Along the way, memories kept flashing through my mind.

I kept wondering…

What kind of woman could steal away a man who loved me more than his own life?

Was she stunning and seductive?

Or was she lively and adorable?

But I never once considered one possibility.

I had lost to a younger version of myself.

A young woman rushed out of the hotel.

She was bright and energetic.

Her features looked almost exactly like mine when I was younger.

Edward walked over naturally and touched her head.

The gesture was so familiar…

As if he had done it countless times before.

“Daddy, I’m wearing the lingerie you like today.”

“Don’t be naughty. Today I’m introducing you to the Family’s capos.”

Edward’s voice carried a teasing tone.

“Tonight, I’ll make sure you’re satisfied.”

Lilith immediately spoke up beside me,“He said he was afraid something would happen to you, so he never introduced you to the Family’s capos.”

“Now he’s introducing a mistress to them instead?”

“Does he have no shame?”

Edward’s right-hand man suddenly sent me a message.

[Donna, you don’t need to follow up on the new club anymore. You’re pregnant, so you should rest. The Don has handed the club’s management rights to Alice. She will become the boss of the club.]

Alice.

The woman who stole my husband.

The underboss continued:

[By the way, the Don said that because you’re pregnant, you can’t fit into your previous clothes anymore.]

[The custom haute couture dress will be given to Miss Alice. She’ll wear it at the club’s opening ceremony.]

That dress wasn’t just a clothes.

It was a matching couple’s outfit.

I had designed it for our tenth wedding anniversary dinner.

Every gemstone on it had been personally selected by me.

Edward was going to take away something I treasured so deeply?

A surge of anger rushed straight to my head.

I grabbed my phone and called Edward.

I saw Edward standing at the entrance of the hotel.

Just as he was about to answer the phone, Alice suddenly reached out and snatched it away.

She hung up the call.

Then she hid the phone behind her back.

“Daddy, you promised you’d spend the whole day with me today.”

I watched the scene in front of me through tear-filled eyes.

Again and again, I pressed the call button.

Edward glanced at Alice and tried to persuade her.

“I’ll only answer for one minute. I just want to know what happened.”

Alice crossed her arms stubbornly.

“No.”

“You broke your promise. If you answer the phone, I won’t see you again.”

In the end, Edward let out a helpless sigh.

He chose to give in.

“Fine. Give me the phone.”

Alice handed it back to him.

Edward pressed the screen.

But instead of answering…

He hung up the call.

Then he put the phone into his bag.

A light drizzle began to fall from the sky.

I stood in the rain, watching the husband I loved more than anything walk into the hotel with another woman.

At that moment, the baby inside me suddenly kicked.

I froze.

Then I forced myself to calm down and held back my furious friend.

“Let’s go.”

I still hadn’t figured out what kind of attitude I should face Edward with.

Inside the car, I placed my hand over my seven-month pregnant belly.

After a long silence, I asked softly:

“Have I become ugly?”

The tears in Lilith’s eyes instantly fell.

She pulled me into her arms and cried.

“How could you be ugly?”

“It’s all Edward’s fault. That bastard!”

“How could he treat you like this?”

My tears silently slipped down my cheeks.

“If I didn’t become ugly…”

“Then why would Edward cheat on me?”

When I returned to the estate, our wedding portrait hung right in the center of the living room.

It was Edward who had insisted on putting it there.

Whenever guests came over, he would proudly point at it and say:

“See? This is my wife.”

I sat motionless in the living room for the entire night.

Edward did not come home.

The only thing I received was a video from an unknown number.

In the dim lighting of the video, two naked bodies were tangled together, their movements intimate and unmistakable.

Alice’s voice was sweet and seductive.

“Daddy…”

“Tell me, am I better than the Donna?”

“She’s so ugly now. You’re not allowed to sleep with her anymore.”

“Otherwise, you’re not allowed to come to my bed.”

My heart tightened.

It felt as if I were a prisoner waiting for my final sentence.

“Mm.”

Edward’s voice came through.

His tone was filled with affection.

Like a knife slowly cutting into my heart.

The pain was so intense that I could barely breathe.

“She really has become less attractive.”

“I only like you, my little sweet.”

I saved the video.

Then I saw a servant .

My voice was cold and emotionless.

“Burn out every photo of Edward and me .”
