Chapter Fourteen

George’s POV

I’m forced between the wall and a hard place. I struggled to obey her wishes but I’m scared the harder I push, the further she’ll move away. So I don’t follow her. Instead, I watched her car drive off into the night.

I slammed my fist into the car hood.

There was my wife whom I had thought died. I had mourned for years but she didn’t recognize or remember me. She looked at me like I was a stranger, someone she had never loved but she dared to gaze upon that bastard Constantino like he held the moon.

I climbed back into my car and began to drive to my estate. My phone pinged and I lifted it. I see the series of missed calls from Flora and the messages she had sent but I ignored each of them.

Flora was the biggest mistake of my adult life. The kind of regret that ate through me daily and I feared that I was going to go crazy if I had to endure her any longer.
