Chapter Fifty Two

I was running through the park then I saw a big tree with oranges on it. And they were really pretty oranges. There was one I thought I could reach. I jumped up but I couldn’t get it so I began to cry.

Then Daddy picked me up so I was on his shoulders. I laughed as I grabbed the orange. Daddy put me down and smiled. His eyes crinkled when he smiled…

I woke up to the scent of oranges and mint, and it was an excruciatingly nostalgic scent. Opening my eyes, I allowed my dream to fade from my senses. Then I sat up and rubbed my eyes, and I couldn’t help but smile.

I dreamt about happy memories. Well, that was new.

I glanced around the room, feeling slightly disoriented for a moment before I remembered where I was. I was in Nicholas’s apartment, and on Nicholas’s bed.

My smile broadened as I sank back into the pillows, then I pulled the covers up to my chin and grinned. At that moment, the door clicked open.

“Ophelia?”

Nicholas’s voice was a whisper, and I knew that he was trying not
