Chapter Fifty Three

Nicholas shut the car door behind him. “Thank you for doing this," he said through an exhale as the car started to move.

“I don’t mind,” I said and it was the truth.

He only asked if I could accompany him to work, and it was not like I had anything else to do. Suddenly, my phone pinged, startling both Nicholas and I as we realized that I hadn’t gotten a phone call or text in a while. I wondered what Rianne was up to? She was usually texting me all the time but she was unusually silent today.

I swiped up and I had to read the new message a few times for it to really sink in.

Dear Miss Morgan,

We are delighted to inform you that you have acquired the job as Mr. Coleman's personal assistant at Baylor Publishing House. We look forward to seeing you next Monday, which is the 9th of November at 8 AM.

I squealed in delight as I turned to Nicholas, “I got the job!”

His eyes widened as I threw my arms around his neck, encasing him in an elated bear hug.

“I am not surprised,” he informed
