Serena's Point of View

"I'll drive you home."

As we walked toward the elevator, Adrian said it as if it were the most normal thing in the world.

"Sir... you're heading back to the office, right?"

I really didn't want him to waste any more of his time.

"Let's go. My car is in the underground parking."

He pressed the elevator button for the parking level as if he hadn't even heard what I said.

What more could I say?

A few minutes later, I was sitting in the passenger seat of his luxurious car as

  • When My Husband Lost Me, His CEO Found Me   108. The First

Serena's Point of View“You're the first... the first woman who's ever come to my home.”For a moment, I simply stared at him, not knowing how to process what he had said. All these months, when he stayed with me...Took care of me.Protected me.Held me.Made me fall in love with him...Had I at least once wondered about a man nearing thirty...A man who lacked nothing in his life...A man whose looks could compete with any celebrity...Wasn't there ever a woman?Someone special in his life throughout all these years?Maybe because I knew how he presented himself to the outside world.Ruthless.Emotionless.Cold.Indifferent.I had simply assumed that he had never opened himself up to anyone.Maybe my heart had come to that conclusion without even allowing me to think about it.However, now...When he calmly told me that I was the first woman in his home, let alone his bedroom...It felt completely different.“Adrian...” I murmured his name, not knowing what else to say.“I know my c

  • When My Husband Lost Me, His CEO Found Me   107. The First Woman Here

Adrian’s Point of ViewMy head was fucking splitting. That was the first thing that came to my mind even before I opened my eyes. But it wasn't just my head.My whole body felt like I had been beaten to death.Fuck.How much did I drink last night?I kept my eyes closed, trying to remember.Then...I noticed something else.Something warm was pressed against my chest.Soft.Warm.And smelling so fucking good.My brows furrowed.I inhaled deeply without even realizing it.That scent...It was familiar.Far too familiar.A scent I longed for.A scent I wanted to keep with me all the fucking time. But how the fuck was I smelling it here?My eyes snapped open. And my heart stopped.Serena.She was sleeping in my arms.On my bed.Her face was buried against my chest.Against my bare chest. Her hair was scattered around her.One of her hands was holding mine. Our intertwined hands were so close to where my heart was.And my free arm...It was wrapped tightly around her waist. For several se

  • When My Husband Lost Me, His CEO Found Me   106. Because you are Adrian.

Serena's Point of ViewI had thought I wasn't capable of loving another man again in my life. Not after being betrayed by the man I had loved with everything I had.I had given him seven years of my life.Trusted him with my heart.Built my entire world around him.And he took me for granted. He took my love and crushed it so completely that I thought the part of me capable of loving a man had died with it.But apparently...It hadn't.Because here I was.Holding another man in my arms...And...Loving him with all my heart.I shut my eyes tightly.Tears rolled down my cheeks. My hand began to move again through Adrian's messy hair. His hair felt so soft beneath my fingers...I had loved Rowen with everything I had, but that love was nothing like what I felt for Adrian right now.Maybe because Adrian hadn't walked into my life expecting me to start a relationship with him.He hadn't asked me to trust him.He hadn't made countless promises and expected me to believe them.He hadn't ask

  • When My Husband Lost Me, His CEO Found Me   105. And That Something Had a Name

Serena’s Point of View“She took her own life...”Adrian's voice was so broken against my shoulder. His fingers tightened around my hand.“But I don't consider it suicide, Serena.”I lowered my eyes to look at him.His face was buried against my shoulder, but I could feel how his entire body had gone stiff as he spoke.“It was murder.”My heart paused.“They killed her.”His voice grew colder with every word.“That man called my father. His fucking mistress. Every single person in that house who watched her life being destroyed and did nothing.”His breathing became heavier.“They were adults, Serena.”“They knew she wasn't okay.”“They knew she couldn't go to work. She couldn't eat or drink. She had completely stopped taking care of herself.”“But no one helped her.”I took a deep breath.“Even her own parents...”He let out a bitter laugh.“When that man asked them not to visit, they simply listened. Why didn't they fight for their daughter?”He lifted his head from my shoulder and

  • When My Husband Lost Me, His CEO Found Me   104. I Was Too Late

Serena's Point of View“That was the first time I ever saw my mother beg my father.”Adrian's voice trembled.I took a deep breath.Rowen hadn't brought Michela home. But just knowing that he had cheated on me with her for two years... how heartbroken had I been? How scared had I felt when I found out a little life was growing inside me when I was about to lose the man I loved? How painful had it been to even think that my baby would have to grow up in an incomplete family and there was nothing I could do to change it?So what kind of heartbreak must Adrian's mom have felt? How terrified must she have been when that man brought his mistress and her child into the place she called home?“My mom cried and begged him to send them away...”His breathing became uneven.“She said, ‘This is my home. Mine and Adrian's. Please. Anywhere but here.’”A tear slipped from the corner of his eye.And that single tear was more painful than all the words he had said since I came here.It clearly showe

  • When My Husband Lost Me, His CEO Found Me   103. Behind Her Beautiful Smile

Serena’s Point of View“My mother wasn't just a beautiful and kind woman...”I looked at him.His head was leaning against the sofa, and his eyes were fixed on the photograph.“She was incredibly smart.”Something changed in his expression.Beyond the grief filling his eyes, there was suddenly pride. So much pride.“She was one of the most powerful female CEOs of her time.”My gaze instantly shifted to the beautiful woman in the photo.“She built Henrix Properties entirely by herself. Not just that, she was the mastermind behind most of the Henrix Group of companies.”My finger slowly traced the edges of the photograph.“She had power, wealth, education... everything.”A bitter smile touched his lips.“Everything people think guarantees happiness.”His eyes slowly closed again.“I think she was happy too. But one day, something happened that turned our lives completely upside down.”My heart tightened.“One day, a pregnant woman appeared outside our house.”His jaw clenched.“I was ei

Adrian’s Point of ViewI returned to the office after the meeting at 4Axis.There were documents waiting. There were always documents waiting.I went through one file, trying to read the figures carefully, but I wasn’t focused. My mind kept returning to the restaurant. To her.I hadn’t expected to

Serena’s Point of View“Sir… I didn’t realize you had arrived.”Marco’s tone shifted instantly into something respectful and polite as he stepped toward the table by the window. The tall man in the dark suit didn’t respond. He simply looked at the customer, his eyes completely emotionless.I turned

Serena’s Point of View“For table seven!”Lucy called from the kitchen, and I quickly picked up the tray.It was a Friday evening, my third day at Lena’s. With Lena suddenly ill, Marco was managing the restaurant, and the whole place felt slightly off.I made my way through the crowded tables. The

Serena’s Point of ViewFinding a place to stay wasn’t easy, and I didn’t have the luxury to be picky. After a few calls and visits, I finally found a room in a shared apartment.Fortunately, they only required the monthly rent as a deposit. The place was small, just enough for a bed, a table, and a
