INICIAR SESIÓNAndrew’s POVMy hands start to quiver, the shakes spreading all the way down to the tips of my toes as I stare at the notes. The same swoosh at the letter ’S’. The same little circle that Melissa used to dot her letter ‘I’. My eyes swim when I try to see all the letters, vaguely wondering why and how I got to memorize every single detail of her handwriting. I never thought I paid that much attention, but here I am.And I’m just drinking it all in with a strange sensation in my chest….Almost like I’m longing for her.“Andrew,” Eleanor tries to say, and I lift my head to look at her. “Are you listening to me?”I don’t answer. I don’t even know how to answer. I keep staring at the notes and my heart just folds in on itself. This has to be the same handwriting….But how?Melissa is dead. Flora is a whole different person. Melissa would never be that glamorous. She will never be the type to chase fame like that, who will dress so elegantly and elaborately, the kind that will attract atten
Melissa’s POV“I’m going to be alright,” Yolanda assures me as I hold her hand.Zane and I have gone to the hospital to check on her, and throughout the journey I was just filled with guilt. Seeing her weak and bandaged on the bed almost broke me, and her reassurance is the only thing that’s keeping me strong.“I’m sorry this happened to you,” I whisper, shaking my head. “It’s all because of me. I shouldn’t have let you go alone and I shouldn’t have—”“Mel,” Yolanda says, looking me straight in the eye. “None of this is your fault. All of this… well, it’s all Eleanor. That’s why we need to have your best designs. We need to show this bitch that we mean business.”“I don’t want you to work or worry until everything is better here,” I tell her firmly. “I’ll take care of everything—”“You do realize that this is what she wanted, right?” Yolanda suddenly asks. “She wants you to be slowed down. That’s why she had me attacked on my way to somewhere else. She wants you to stop production. Sh
Melissa’s POVEverything around me seems to be falling apart.“It’s going to be alright,” Yolanda keeps telling me, and it’s not that I don’t think she’s right or anything. It’s the fact that it’s really not alright.Eleanor got her hands on some of my best designs. And yes, they’re mostly drafts that she probably won’t know how to execute, but it’s still some of my best work. If she does manage to figure out how to execute them, then I would have given her my work for free. Boosting her business and dooming mine.I have to do something about it. I need to figure this out.And the only way I can do that is with Zane’s help.I really hate to come to him like this, but I have no other choice.Later that afternoon, I get into my car and drive to his office. My heart is already beating loud in my ears, and it gets even worse when I get to the elevator to the penthouse floor. I don’t know how he’ll react to seeing me, and that’s the worst part….Since all his many assistants already know w
Melissa’s POVI just watch Eleanor leave, not caring one bit about whatever is happening to her. The only thing I know is that she’s desperate, and god I just like relishing in her desperation.I take a sip from the cup of tea that I made, smiling to myself as I lean against the counter.Turning the TV back on to hear more news, I settle on my desk at last. The reports about Andrew seem to be over, though. I guess there really isn’t much to tell about him other than the fact that his businesses are tanking and pretty much every consumer wants to avoid anything that his companies have to offer. But I have to admit, as happy as I am that he’s finally getting what he deserves, I can’t help but feel a pang of hurt for Grandpa. He was the one who built everything from the ground up. He poured all his heart and everything he can offer to make their businesses grow to the empire it is now. It’s sad to see all of that go to waste over something—well, someone—that Grandpa never wanted to be a
Third Person POV“You’re on your own.”Those words keep repeating in Melissa’s mind, echoing like some sort of a joke. She doesn’t want to believe that it’s true, that Zane really meant it. After all, they’ve been through so much—maybe way too much—just for him to give up on her in the end.But three days has passed now, and Zane hasn’t returned any of her calls or texts.Melissa feels like she’s floating in the wind, aimless. Directionless without Zane. Yes, she’s still working in her studio and doing her best to prepare for the launch, but it doesn’t feel like it’s worth it anymore. When she found out the news about Eleanor and Andrew being in deeper shit after the charity event, she couldn’t even find happiness from it.She just stared into the distance, listening to the news report.“The boycott for Morgan products and services is still ongoing, causing stock to plummet.”She should be celebrating that with Zane. Instead, she’s here in her studio alone, working on more designs eve
Third Person POVZane was worried about Melissa.Yes, he never wanted to go to the charity event. Yes, it’s because he was jealous and worried that Andrew still had a hold on her. He was also upset that it seemed that Melissa was losing her way, that her main concern was starting to focus on Andrew once again, instead of making Eleanor pay.Even though he can’t help feel some resentment towards her for still insisting on going, he decided to go after her anyway and make sure she’s safe.He waded through the crowd and dodged questions from the press, trying his best to look for Melissa. But the only person he found was Eleanor. She’s by the bar, nursing what looks to be a tall glass of martini. Zane frowns, knowing that she’s supposed to be pregnant. Why is she drinking? He starts to approach her, meaning to catch her in the act, but Eleanor seems to have developed a sense for people watching her because she immediately slid the glass back to the bartender and turns around to see him.
