Chapter 2 Harassment, Professionally Done

Author: Bright Lights
After that, I stopped paying attention to the male intern and headed straight to the CEO's office with the documents in my arms.

Cassian never closed his door. Usually, he would respond almost immediately after he heard me knock on his door. Oddly enough, I received no response this time. Instead, I found him sitting at his desk, writing something with a dark, brooding look on his face.

Still, the sight of him made my heart skip a beat. 'He looks so handsome. So dangerous. God, I want to kiss him.'

Before I could finish the thought, Cassian finally noticed someone in the office. He looked up impatiently, probably about to yell at them. However, his expression softened the moment he saw it was me. "Yes, Ms. Rhodes?"

I stared at his thin lips, beating down the restless urge in my chest to give in to temptation. Then, I said calmly, "Mr. Knox, it's time for your meeting."

He nodded, casually crumpled the paper he had just written on, and tossed it into the trash before getting up to leave.

Once he was completely out of sight, I glanced through the blinds to check on Andrew. When I saw that he was still buried in his work, I immediately dropped the act, strode over, and fished the crumpled paper out of the trash with precision.

I unfolded it. The handwriting was sharp and forceful, a single line written clearly enough to send a jolt of excitement through me.

"Why can't your smile belong to me alone?"

'Ah, that… feels familiar. Cassian… He might be a possessive psychopath as well…'

The realization immediately put an extra spring to my step.

I had been worried about scaring him off, but now that we were clearly cut from the same cloth, there was no need for me to hold back anymore.

That very night, I used a burner account to hack into Cassian's social media and forced him to add me. Then, I launched a full-scale harassment campaign.

I had my reasons for using an alternate account. One of them was that it would allow me to control the tempo of the hunt as I saw fit. If Cassian wasn't interested in me, then I could still stay right by his side… as his secretary.

In short, it was a very meticulously planned strategy. Nevertheless, I couldn't exactly say that the messages I sent him from that account were restrained.

"Baby, I really want to be your pen, so I can be held in your hand."

"The red tie you wore today was so hot, baby. But… it would be even better if it wasn't tied around your neck and somewhere else instead."

"Baby, baby, baby…"

Despite the slew of unhinged messages I sent him, Cassian only replied twice—once with a question mark, and the other with a curt, "Get lost."

I took a screenshot of that "Get lost," printed it out, and added it to my collection of Cassian-related memorabilia. The more I looked at it, the more satisfied I felt.

On the other hand, Cassian didn't seem to be doing so well, for he seemed noticeably more gloomy the next day when he realized he couldn't get rid of my alternate account.

'Oh, how I love making sullen guys cry. No, wait, focus!' I said inwardly.

"Mr. Knox, could you repeat that?" I snapped back to attention and asked.

"I'll send you an ID later," he repeated grimly. "Have the tech department take care of it."

"Understood."

That same day, I dutifully made a trip to the tech department and did… absolutely nothing. Then, I came back to report to Cassian. "Mr. Knox, the tech department said they can't handle it. Is there a problem with that ID? I know a bit about computers. I might be able to help."

Cassian met my earnest gaze before quickly looking away, clearing his throat a little awkwardly. "Mm… forget it. It's not that important."

"I see."

'Well, if you're not going to deal with it, then don't blame me for going even further,' I thought.

After that, I not only sent him obsessive, unfiltered confessions from my burner account, but also started mixing in the occasional outright declaration.

"Baby, I love you so much. Won't you be my puppy?"

Ever since Cassian was a child, he had pushed himself to become the very best. Yet, all he had ever received in return were the ever-rising expectations and relentless criticisms from his father. His mother had been absent for as long as he knew her, while his father had been cold and unforgiving.Years of emotional neglect and constant pressure had gradually twisted something inside him. He was more rational and clearheaded than almost anyone else, but he also craved love more desperately than anyone. After he came of age, he had voluntarily sought out a psychologist and confessed the problems he recognized within himself. After the doctor listened to his story, he had gently suggested, "Try placing your emotional attachment in the family you've built or will build for yourself in the future. Perhaps that will gradually heal the emptiness inside you."A family of his own? At the time, Cassian had found the idea both absurd and laughable. After all, no one understood his nature be

Cassian went from utter shock to slowly closing his eyes, surrendering himself to the kiss.Only when we had both run out of breath did I tilt my head away and finally let him go.His chest rose and fell heavily. His eyes had grown misty because of the kiss. However, he never looked away from me. "Are you… taking pity on me?" he asked, his voice hoarse. It seemed that he no longer believed he deserved anyone's love after being publicly rejected by his father. To him, every bit of affection that came his way now felt like charity. My heart softened as I looked at the loneliness and vulnerability on his face."No."It was only one word, yet it carried unwavering certainty.Cassian nodded, but it was obvious he didn't believe me. Instead, he apologized. "What I did… locking you up… was wrong. I hurt you. I'm sorry. You can leave now. For good if that's what you want. If you want to resign because of this, I'll give you four times the statutory severance package, plus a fully paid

I slapped him across the face.It wasn't hard. Honestly, it was more teasing than anything, but it seemed to snap Cassian back to his senses. The tenderness in his eyes vanished, replaced by panic and guilt. He immediately stepped away, putting some distance between us as he apologized earnestly, "I'm sorry, Heather. I lost control."Then, he avoided my eyes, stood up, and practically fled in total embarrassment.I stared at the tightly shut door, and all I felt was regret.'Damn it, I overdid it!'I'd only wanted to play hard to get and watch him lose control. Alas, I'd scared him away instead. Oh, how I wished I could turn back time and take that slap back.I had assumed that, with how obsessed Cassian was with me, he'd spend one awkward night sorting out his emotions before coming to see me again the next day. I never imagined he'd disappear for an entire night and the entire day after that.I didn't catch a single glimpse of him for a full 24 hours. The only person who cam

Cassian smiled now that I had finally made a request from him, a flicker of light flashing across his eyes. "You're finally asking me for something."Then, he frowned slightly, sounding a little dissatisfied. "You can take a bath, but you'll have to call me something else."I feigned awkwardness as I spoke the name I'd already whispered to myself countless times. "Cassian…"His eyes lit up with joy the instant his name fell from my lips. "Good girl."Then, he reached down and unlocked the chain around my ankle. The cold metal slipped away, and I was finally free. His fingertips gently brushed over the faint red marks the shackles had left on my skin. "You can bathe, but don't even think about running away. I'm not letting you go."I nodded obediently and meekly.'Run away? I came here with no intention of leaving!'I wandered into the bathroom and deliberately took my time.…Once I figured enough time had passed, I turned off the shower and casually wrapped a towel loosely a

Fortunately for him, I had no intention of leaving.Instead, I settled comfortably onto the bed and began taking a proper look around the room that had become my prison. In the past, it had never occurred to me that I might be Cassian's crush. I'd watched every corner of this villa through the security cameras countless times, but nothing had ever stood out to me. Now that I looked closely, it suddenly became obvious that this had been going on for quite a while. After all, everything in this room had been designed according to my tastes. The walls were painted my favorite light beige. The curtains were the luxury sheer drapes that had been sitting in my online wishlist forever. Even the bedding he'd used for this room was the soft cotton fabric I'd favored for years. The diffuser on the nightstand was the same niche fragrance I'd casually mentioned on social media once, saying it smelled wonderful.Every single detail matched my preferences to a T.A surge of warm satisfactio

Soft morning light settled across Cassian's shoulders, making his already striking features even more breathtaking. Yet, there was no hiding the unmistakable possessiveness in his eyes behind all the beauty. The look he was giving me was so intense that it felt almost predatory. Before I could continue giving him my Oscar-worthy attempt at being terrified, he had already walked over to me. Then, he bent down and gently drew me into his arms. His warm breath brushed over my hair as he slowly stroked my back, soothing me patiently. "Don't be afraid, baby. I won't hurt you."I greedily breathed in his scent, but deliberately tensed my shoulders, feigning fear."I've liked you for a long time." His chin rested lightly against the top of my head, his voice practically dripping with tenderness. "I fell for you ever since the first time you held one of my finance magazines and told me with utmost sincerity that I was your role model."I watched you stay cold and distant with everyone el
