Elara Moonstone

"Put me down right now" I yelled as King Luca threw me into his car. Before I could even react, he got in the driver's seat and had me locked in. All attempts to get out proved abortive as I struggled with letting my emotions not get the better of me.

He took me straight to the palace, not even paying attention to any of my protests. Seeing that he wasn't answering me, he slammed his door shut and came to my side to pull me with him. A small crowd watched us as I fought against him carrying me again. He lifted me again and marched straight to his bedroom; he threw me on the bed.

The fall caused me to bounce on the bed and loosen the strap of my halter top. I felt the rope slowly losing its grip around my chest region. His eyes caught the slack material, and before I could move, he was on top of me, pinning me down to the bed.

"Why do you keep resisting me?" He asked me, his breath ragged as his body temperature went hotter by the minute.

"What if I would rather not

  • When The Moon Remembers   37: Predator and Prey

Elara MoonstoneMaera came to me the next morning, stirring me up from the weird dream that I was having. I was with people who were worshipping me, even though the dream had not been clear. “Good morning Elara” she said calmly, her voice cold. “What happened to you?” I asked as I jumped out of the bed, tying my robe around my body as I hurried to her. “Nothing. I just wanted you to take a walk with me in the garden. The king came when he was leaving for a pack business with George. That's how I knew you would be alone” she said as I quickly held her and led her to the balcony to get some air. “Stay here a while. Let me quickly go and prepare” I said as she weakly nodded her head. I knew something was bothering her mind. She didn't look like she had just come for a walk. I was hell-bent on helping her today anyway that I could. “I'm ready” I told her a few minutes later before we made our way out of the chambers. On the way, I met Caroline; she had a mean smirk on her face. It w

  • When The Moon Remembers   36: The Becoming

Elara Moonstone"I want you to find whoever has been in the morgue in the last hour," Luca ordered as he stormed back into the room, anger seething from him. Maera and George had long retired to their chambers, their hearts aching but still supportive of each other. My heart was filled with worry as I thought of anyone who would be capable of doing such to them because of me. The hatred must be really deep, and I was obviously in a lot of danger. "How dare they threaten you? That is an insult to my name. Do they not have any regard for me at all?" Luca thundered, taking a swig out of the bottle. "We will find the person. We just need to go through the CCTV footage" I said calmly, even though nothing going on inside me was calm. "And when I get my hands on them, I will skin them alive and feed them to the vultures in the forest." He said it, and I knew he meant every word of it. It made me feel secure that someone else cared about me so much, and he was willing to go to any length

  • When The Moon Remembers   35: Royal Duties

Elara MoonstoneThe next few days that followed were tense; everyone had a serious look when they moved around the palace. We all felt the great loss for George and Maera; the maid who served our drinks that day has been nowhere to be found. "What are you thinking about?" Luca asked me as his hands wrapped loosely around my waist. It was crazy how small I was compared to him in sheer size, but even that wasn't enough to quell the need for vengeance. "Do you have any intel on where the maid would have gone to?" I asked him as I moved away from him to prevent him from distracting me again. "Yes. My men are on their way back to us as we speak." He said, and just as if on cue, George busted into the room looking very disheveled. "Apologies, the men are back, your highness" he said in one breath. His eyes were hollow, and they carried the weight of the lack of sleep. "Alright. Go and wait for me. I will be joining you now" Luca addressed him as he turned to me, while George nearly bol

  • When The Moon Remembers   34: The First to Draw Blood

Elara Moonstone"There's no way that I would kill my baby in any way! That was my first baby; I could never have hurt my baby" Maera cried as my heart broke for her. The Doctor had long left, and now, we were left alone with the heaviness in our hearts. George was drinking with Luca at his office, but I knew that was the only thing stopping him from bawling his eyes out. "Believe me, someone did this to me" she cried. "I do, I really do. But who could have done such a thing? Not everyone even knew that you were pregnant" I mentioned as my head began to work overtime. Something seemed fishy about all this, seeing that she was so convinced. "Hey hey, rest Maera" I said to her as I gave her the pill that the doctor had prescribed. She took them, even though the aura of sadness had enveloped her. "I don't want anyone to hurt my baby" she cried, the effect of the sedative beginning to take place. "We will get to the bottom of this; I will make sure you get justice for the loss that y

  • When The Moon Remembers   33: An Unhappy Union

Elara Moonstone"How does he just say that?" I asked Maera while pacing around the room. She was laughing and trying to calm me down, but I was nervous. I was a nervous wreck, and for once, her presence wasn't really helping me. "He has asked for two weeks to court you and then one month to marry you. I don't see what the problem is here, Elara?" She said, still laughing while rubbing her belly and flashing her new wedding ring. It had been made specially for her, beginning a generational heirloom started just for her. George was insane for her, and everyone could see that. Even though I knew Luca cared for me, I wondered if it wasn't because I shared an uncanny resemblance to a woman who was his first love. I wanted to tell Maera about it, but it somehow felt too delicate to discuss with another until I knew exactly what was going on. The wedding proposal had come as a shock, with Luca giving me barely any time to respond as he had given me a hard kiss on my cheeks and my forehead

  • When The Moon Remembers   32: Courting Elara

Elara MoonstoneGeorge and Maera had decided to get married the weekend after I was informed. She was happy and glowing, making me wonder what the fuss was all about. Plans were in earnest, and the king spared no cost in ensuring that it was a special occasion. I had totally forgotten about the woes of my life until the morning of the wedding day, when I had simply gone to take a stroll in the garden. "Women of low class will always think that the best way to get a man is to trap him with her private part" I heard the croaky voice of Caroline from the lake just beside the garden. "Isn't it better than the mistress who can find her place in the world no matter how hard she tries?" I fired back at her, even though my tone was cool. Her eyes blazed at me, but she had started it, and I would not let her get away with insulting Maera. "I hope you do not have the same plans for the King. He doesn't like conniving women; he likes naive virgins that he can conquer" she said, and that pique
