CHAPTER TWENTY EIGHT- UNDERSTANDING EACH OTHER

Alexander looked at Beatrice and saw that she was beginning to get angry. He did not expect her to be angry but he knew why she was. She did not like him to take decisions without informing her and he had done exactly that. He had not wanted to tell her before asking her sister to come because he knew that she would have told him to allow Suzanne to stay back in Chester. She did not want to disrupt her sister's life even though she needed her at this low point of her life. She would deny it when he said it but he knew that it was true. After all, she was his wife and he knew her better than anyone so he knew how she thought and how she handled her emotions.

For now, Alexander reminded himself that he had to answer Beatrice's question in a pacifying manner. He did not want her to get angry further with her state in the way it was. He had to go gently with her. She did not need to be stressed in this stage of her sickness least of all by him, her husband.
