Mom and Dad were being taken to the police station. They even had to wear handcuffs.Only bad people wore those. Dad and Mom weren't bad people. However, no matter how badly I wanted to stop it, I still heard the handcuffs click shut.Mom and Dad were much calmer than I had expected. As they were led out, the neighbors couldn't resist hurling accusations at them.I recognized Erika Wagner, the elderly lady from upstairs. "Sabrina was such a good kid. She was pretty, sweet, and everyone in the neighborhood liked her. How did she end up with parents like that?""Exactly. This is murder, plain and simple. An eye for an eye wouldn't even be enough!""The book should be thrown at them! If you don't want to raise a child right, don't have one. What century is this? Who still favors one child over another like that?""They deserve to die!"Mom and Dad didn't argue. Instead, the corners of their mouths lifted slightly."If only they'd let me pay for it with my life. Now that Sabrina's

No, what Granny said was exactly what I wanted to say.Granny was so furious that she couldn't get another word out. Her hand trembled as she jabbed a finger at Mom's face. Before she could speak, Mom's phone rang again.Patricia's voice crackled through the speaker, sharp and impatient. "Didn't you say you were bringing your daughter over to play? My son's been waiting forever! Do you want Olivia to see that doctor or not?"Granddad, Granny, and Dad looked at her in surprise.Granddad snatched the phone out of her hand and threw it to the floor. "You know exactly what kind of monster that boy is! Have you forgotten Sabrina had nightmares for a month the last time they were together?"You were actually going to send your own daughter over there just so Olivia could see a doctor? How did I raise a daughter who could be this biased?"Granny slapped Mom across the face. "You're a woman yourself. How could you do this to your own daughter?"Dad's lips trembled. "Why didn't you talk

Grandma grabbed Dad by the collar, crying so hard that she couldn't even straighten up.I wanted so badly to tell my grandparents not to cry.It had been so stuffy inside the washing machine, and being spun around and slammed against the inner wall had hurt so much, but at least I wasn't in pain anymore.Dad stared blankly at my body, as if his soul had been ripped out of him. He crouched down and gathered me into his arms, gently smoothing the matted strands of my hair. "Sabrina, I was wrong. You've suffered so much. I'm going to find a peaceful place for you to finally rest."Grandma and Grandpa tried to stop him from carrying me out in such a state, but none of them could hold him back.He carried me into the elevator. The moment the doors opened, the children inside burst into frightened tears. The news of what had happened to me spread through the neighborhood like wildfire. They buried me.Mom and Dad stood before my grave. At first, they cried at the top of their lung

Grandma sniffed the air, and her frown deepened. "What is that smell in your house? Did something go bad? Are two kids too much for you to handle? Do you want me to come over and help, starting tomorrow?"She was still speaking when Mom's knees suddenly buckled, and she nearly collapsed to the floor.Granny was the first to sense that something was wrong. She walked toward them and demanded, "Where is she? I haven't seen Sabrina once since I walked in. Where is my granddaughter?"Tears suddenly filled Mom's eyes. Her hand shook as she pointed toward the washing machine."A-A few days ago, Sabrina made Olivia choke on purpose, and I got so mad that I locked her in the washing machine."Mom... Sabrina went to your house, didn't she? She's just throwing a tantrum and refusing to come back, right? She's just making you say these things because she wants to see us panic, doesn't she?"She grabbed Granny's hand, but Granny shook her off."You… How could you call yourselves her parents

"Forget it. I'm going to check on the baby," Mom said.Over the next few days, Mom and Dad never looked for me again.Dad went to work as usual, but Olivia suddenly started throwing up her milk and refusing to eat. Mom was so worried that she took her to several hospitals, but nothing helped. Then, she heard that Patricia Kane knew a skilled medical practitioner.Mom called Patricia, and every word out of her mouth sounded eager to please."Patricia, it's been ages! Your son hasn't come over to play with Sabrina in so long. Why don't I bring her over in a few days to keep him company?"A chill ran down my spine the moment I heard that.I had played with Patricia's son before. He always bullied me.Back then, he hit me in the head with a chair and forced me to watch as he strangled a litter of newborn kittens. I was so traumatized that I had nightmares about it for an entire month.Mom and Dad used to be adamant about keeping me away from him. Mom said he had serious behavioral
