Chapter 1

From the day I became Caino Vitelli’s sugar baby, I prepared myself for the moment he would discard me. I never imagined it would be because of my sister.

I lowered my head and stopped moving.

Caino did not care about my hesitation. He pulled me onto his lap with the same careless ease he used for everything in his life.

One hand stroked lazily between my thighs while the other palmed my breast, kneading it like it belonged to him. My body betrayed me almost instantly. I felt myself growing wet, my hips rocking toward him before I could stop them.

“Still so responsive, aren’t you?” Caino gave me a long, unreadable look. “You and Amelia are completely different.”

His kiss felt harsher than usual, and it made my mind flash unwillingly to the thought of him kissing Amelia Moretti the same way.

I braced my hands against his chest, breathing hard. My voice shook. “Why Amelia? You know what she did before.”

His expression turned cold. “That was ages ago. Are you really still holding a grudge?”

Holding a grudge. That was all my pain meant to him.

Tears slid down my face before I could stop them.

Caino lost his patience. He flipped me onto the bed, shoved my legs apart, and thrust inside me without warning. Every movement was punishment.

It did not take long before I was sore and swollen, but he did not stop. I reached for him, trying to soothe whatever was boiling inside him. He slapped my hand away, tore my lingerie to shreds, and used the strips to tie my wrists to the headboard.

He grew more frenzied, more out of control. By the end, my body was covered in handprints and his release. Every inch of my skin ached with proof of his anger.

I bit my lip and stayed silent. I did not dare cry or fight back. I let him take everything out on me.

When it ended, I could barely move. I picked up my coat from the floor in silence, careful with every breath so I would not upset him further.

I kept my head down. My voice trembled. “I hope you and Amelia will be happy.”

He leaned close. The smell of smoke surrounded me. His tone carried that familiar superiority. “Sancia, I kept you for ten years. You are a smart girl. You know what to do when you leave here.”

I had imagined our breakup many times. I wondered if we would end with a goodbye or a fight. I never thought his final words to me would be a warning.

Heartbroken, I walked out of the apartment I had lived in for ten years but never truly belonged to.

When the Moretti family adopted me at sixteen, I felt grateful. It meant I would have regular meals and would not have to fight shelter dogs for scraps anymore.

Amelia was only a year younger. She grew up loved and sheltered, unaware of how cruel the world could be.

Back then, I was her protector.

During our senior year, Amelia was tricked into attending a private party thrown by the principal’s son. I knew his parties were never safe.

I rushed there like a madwoman.

Loud music shook the room. Several boys surrounded Amelia, forcing drinks toward her. When she saw me, she cried and begged for help.

I shielded her without thinking.

They refused to back down. To protect her, I drank everything they pushed at me. The liquor burned my throat, and my stomach churned, but I kept going until they finally let her go.

I supported Amelia toward the exit, step by step.

When we reached the car, her phone rang. It was her teacher asking about homework.

She pulled away from me. “Sancia, I need to go back to school. You smell like alcohol. Do not follow me or the teacher will think I am a bad kid.”

I stood frozen. The alcohol hit me hard. My body felt weak. I could not even call after her.

She disappeared into the night, leaving me alone outside that seedy party.

The boys behind me laughed and closed in. Their eyes were full of intent.

I tried to run, but my legs gave out. They pinned me down.

"Amelia ran off, so you'll stay and play with us, won't you?"

What happened that night haunted me for years. It became a shadow that followed me everywhere. It was a gift from Amelia, the girl I risked everything to save.

A hard life taught me that survival mattered more than innocence. What hurt me most was that it had not been my choice.

Rumors spread. Male classmates brushed against me on purpose, made crude jokes, and treated me like I was something dirty.

Amelia refused to admit any fault. She avoided me like everyone else did.

I never expected the sister I loved would treat me that way.

After that, I shut the door on any hope for family.

During my most desperate time, I met Caino.

Over ten years, women came and went around him. None of them made him settle down. Not even me. I only lasted longer than the others.

A sugar baby was still a sugar baby. I never dreamed of becoming his wife, yet I still developed a small attachment to him.

During my weakest year, I told him everything. I only hoped that if he ever settled down, it would not be with Amelia.

Life had a cruel sense of humor.

After leaving heartbroken, I found a hotel and stayed there. I buried myself in work to keep from falling apart.

Just when I finally started to forget Caino, he sent me a birthday invitation.

Cassio and I held a grand wedding. We invited many mafia families and the Vitelli family elders.I wore a pure white wedding dress and walked into the venue on Cassio’s arm. His hand was warm and steady, gripping mine tightly, as if announcing to the world that I was his wife.At the ceremony, Cassio looked at me, his eyes full of tenderness.“Sancia, from today on, you are the love of my life. I will spend the rest of my days loving you and protecting you, forever.”I looked at him, smiling through tears. “Cassio, me too.”Our married life was sweet and peaceful.Cassio spoiled me like a princess. He never let me suffer even a little. He consulted me on everything at home, big or small. Even with family business, he kept me involved. He remained the decisive, ruthless Don of the Vitelli family, yet with me, he dropped all his defenses and showed his gentlest side.Occasionally, I heard news about Caino. Word was he lived terribly. Penniless, surviving by picking through trash.

Caino was judged by the Vitelli family elders for colluding with outside families to harm Cassio and for embezzling family assets. They stripped him of all positions, expelled him from the Vitelli family, and confiscated all his property.Overnight, Caino went from the high and mighty Don of the Vitelli family to a penniless nobody. As for Amelia, Cassio sent her to prison for deliberately framing me and conspiring to harm others. The law would deal with her now.Cassio did not spare my adoptive parents either.Years ago, they ignored my safety for profit and sent me to clients like merchandise. Cassio found evidence of their company’s tax evasion and handed it to the police. Their company went bankrupt. They were thrown in prison and received exactly what they deserved. As for the people who hurt me ten years ago, including the principal’s son and everyone who spread my photos and videos, Cassio hunted them down one by one. Some lost their freedom. Some lost everything they owne

Returning to this familiar yet distant city, Cassio took me straight to the Vitelli family estate. This was where he grew up, and also where he had been ambushed years ago. Now Caino occupied it.Cassio’s return caused an uproar within the Vitelli family. The elders Caino had suppressed all stepped forward to support Cassio.Cassio was the legitimate heir. He was the genius Don who built the family into what it became. When Caino learned we returned, he brought his men and stationed them at the estate gates, trying to block us. Cassio’s people stopped him outside.“Cassio, don’t push it!” Caino roared through the iron gate.“This estate, the Don’s position, they’re all mine now. Don’t even think about taking them back!”Cassio stood inside the gate, watching him coldly.“Caino, for the sake of us being twin brothers, I’ll give you one chance. Hand over the Don’s position voluntarily, leave the Vitelli family, and I’ll let you walk away alive.”“Walk away alive?” Caino laughed.

We ended up at the airport in the neighboring city and boarded a flight to Miran. When the plane took off, I watched the city shrink outside the window. The weight in my chest finally lifted.Cassio sat beside me and handed me a cup of warm water. “Get some sleep. When we land in Miran, I will take you somewhere.”I leaned back and closed my eyes, but sleep refused to come.My mind filled with memories from the past ten years. I was adopted at sixteen, assaulted while trying to save Amelia, spent a decade loving the wrong man, and finally met Cassio. It all felt like one long, absurd dream.Cassio seemed to sense my thoughts. He gently took my hand.“Do not think about it. Let the past stay in the past. When we get to Miran, everything will be new.”I opened my eyes and looked at him. My voice was soft. “Cassio, why are you helping me? You saved me back then, but I mistook you for someone else and spent ten years with your brother. Do you not think I am pathetic?”Cassio smile

The airport wind carried a chill that hit my face. Cassio took off his jacket and draped it over my shoulders. The moment his fingers touched my neck, he paused gently, as if afraid of hurting me."Come on, let's wait in the lounge for boarding."His voice was low, carrying a reassuring strength completely unlike Caino's arrogant coldness.I nodded. He took my hand and led me forward. The warmth from his palm seeped through my skin, and for the first time in ten years, my restless heart finally felt grounded.I opened my phone. Countless unread messages popped up. All from Caino."Sancia, where are you? Get back here right now!"Who is that man? Try leaving with him and see what happens!"Stop throwing a tantrum. I know you're angry. Come back and I'll apologize. I'll give you whatever you want."The later messages grew more frantic. There were even several missed call notifications, all from his number. My finger swiped across the screen. I blocked him. Then I put my phone on

The comforting scent at the tip of my nose reminded me of the first time I met Caino.Back then, after I reported the incident to the police, the entire situation exploded. My adoptive parents finally rushed back from out of town. When they learned what happened, all they cared about was how fortunate it was that Amelia had not been the one hurt. They were relieved that the perpetrators’ families held higher social standing and were willing to offer generous compensation to settle the matter quietly. The money would solve their company’s urgent financial crisis.I cried. I begged. None of it changed their minds. Those people, seeing that money could fix everything, did something even worse. They sold and distributed the videos and photos from that night across the dark web.Overnight, my name became synonymous with shame.Greed often bred desire. My adoptive father even drugged me and delivered me like merchandise to a client he wanted to impress.Fortunately, I woke up halfway
