Mom immediately came running in through the back door, beaming. She reached out and took my hand.

"Come on. Let's go to the toilet together."

I slowly rose to my feet and glanced at the professor, Mr. Darren Conrad.

"Just stop here and wait for me to come back."

The classroom erupted in chaos.

"What the heck is going on? Is Shawn Larson out of his mind?"

"I'd heard that he was a notorious mama's boy, and everyone knew about it. He even needs his mom to help him shower and pull his underwear on!"

"The problem is that his grades are really good. The university even said that he was a genius who only appeared once every 30 years."

"So what if he was a genius if this is the way he acts? He's disgusting!"

Class had already ended by the time I returned to the lecture hall.

I strode back to my seat leisurely, and the reporter immediately shoved his camera in my face.

"Mr. Shawn Larson! Why did you behave like that in class just now?"

I chuckled dismissively. "Because it was nothing but a waste of my time.

"I could already solve problems like that when I was three years old. And if the professor is wasting my time, that means he's also wasting the country's resources."

I leaned back in my chair and put both my feet up.

"As for the rest of the students, they should just drop out if they can't keep up with my pace. This special dual-enrollment program for gifted youth is not preschool. Are the professors supposed to wait for them to toddle their way through?

"The professor should be focusing on serving the best of minds instead. For example, me."

As soon as I was done speaking, Ariel Potter, the class representative sitting in the first row, slammed her hand on the desk and glared at me, her face turning red with anger.

"Did you think that your good grades gave you the right to insult other people? Did you know how hard Mr. Conrad worked to prepare this open class for everyone? But you just had to ruin it like that. Who do you think you are?"

The lecture hall went quiet, and everyone turned to look at me.

I put down my feet from the table and cocked my head at her.

"Oh? Is someone feeling sad because I hurt her? Boo-hoo!

"Who do I think I am? I am the champion of the National Math Championship. I'd already finished solving every problem on the sheet when I went to the toilet earlier. I bet you still haven't even figured out what the first question is about. Right?"

I then scrutinized her from head to toe and said, "Let me give you some advice. You should drop out if you're that stupid. You've got quite a nice body, though. Maybe you'd strike it rich faster if you opened an OF."

Ariel's eyes turned red at once. "You… You pervert!"

The whole class erupted in commotion once again. Someone in the row behind me suddenly got to his feet and pointed his finger in my face.

"Watch your words, Shawn Larson! Are you sick and out of your mind? Who do you think you are to say such filth about others? I'm going to beat you up if you're rude again!"

I stood between him and Ariel and scoffed coldly.

"And who do you think you're ordering around? Wait till you win the math championship like before before talking to me about how I should conduct myself.

"Intelligence is king. I'm a genius. You're all trash. And trash should behave like trash and know its place!"

I slowly made my way to the front of the class, picked up the water bottle, and stared into Mr. Conrad's eyes.

"I might have hit the blackboard this time, old man, but I was just being nice. But if you dare to teach such elementary math again next time and waste my time, I will hit you in the face, right and center. Capisce?"

Then, I turned and strode out of the lecture hall.

That night, the trending searches exploded with videos of me behaving rudely and ruthlessly in class. There was the official video from the reporter, along with some other videos the other students filmed, and they had all been published online.

The videos garnered five million views in the first three hours.

The comment section was flooded with comments.

"What the hell is this? This kind of person doesn't deserve to be called a genius! Geniuses have morals and know where to draw the line!"

"Did he just get his mom to accompany him to the toilet? My son already stopped doing that when he turned five! Do you think he's always wearing diapers in class too?"

"That poor female student, though. This has to be classified as sexual harassment already, right?"

"Is nobody going to do anything about him? If this scumbag isn't expelled by tomorrow, I'm going to protest at Kales University's gates tomorrow!"

I read each and every comment, even liking some of the harshest.

Then, I handed Mom the test paper filled to the brim with my calculations. "I'm done. You can have a look."

Mom scanned through every line and praised me repeatedly.

"This is great! You've finally figured it out!"

She then shoved a wad of cash into my hand and patted her own chest in lingering fear.

"Did you know how disappointed you made me earlier? I saw it with my own eyes! You were actually talking to that piece of trash sitting behind you in the hallway just now! And to think that you actually wasted five minutes explaining things to him. Five whole minutes!

"I felt like the sky had just fallen on me. How could my genius son ever think of wasting five precious minutes on trash like him?

"And the other time when you snuck out to get hot dogs with them at the hot dog stand! Don't you know how filthy those places are? What would you do if you got sick from eating there? What if it affected your grade in the exams?"

I calmly put the cash away.

Mom then hugged my shoulders. "I was so afraid, Shawn! I was so scared that you would turn into an ordinary person! But thank goodness you finally came to your senses. It's all good now.

"Remember that I raised you with a lot of effort, and none of it is so that you could just be on par with ordinary people like them.

"Be good and study hard, okay? Next time, you'll be earning millions of dollars a year for me to spend. You promised me that you'd always put me first, didn't you?"

I held Mom's hands and said, "Don't worry, Mom. I'll never be like that again."

Indeed, Mom hadn't bought a single new piece of clothing in the last 17 years. She rarely ever took me shopping. Each time, she would stare at the clothes for a very long time before turning to me and saying, "Never mind. I won't buy it. The money needs to be saved for your tuition."Then, she would hold my hand and tell me repeatedly that she would give up anything for me.She also really hadn't eaten a decent meal in as long as I could remember.Every time, she would make sure that I ate like a king, while she ate only the scraps and leftovers after my meal. But it wasn't like we came from a poor household in the first place.Yet, every day, she would say things like, "I'm counting on you for the rest of my life", or "Everything I did would be in vain if you don't amount to something", or "What's the point of me living if you can't even do well in your exams?"She made me feel like I was the one who owed her a good life. Her happiness was my responsibility, and her suffering w

The most-liked comments under the viral video of my behavior in class back then weren't criticisms of me anymore. "I knew that something was wrong. A math genius who won the National Math Championship couldn't possibly have such horrible control over his behavior, like going berserk in class.""Am I the only one thinking that he was actually very smart? He used this method to get everyone's attention. He really is a genius after all.""See? I told you that he was just crying for help. And you all called me a loony.""Fly high, little birdie! The world is your oyster now!""I must applaud the professor too! He could immediately tell what the kid was doing and even played along so well.""Most importantly, he saved the kid and brought him home with him.""Yeah. Otherwise, the poor kid would have been sent right back to square one no matter how big a fuss he made."Some of the netizens even dug up old interview videos of Mr. Jefferson. It was from a documentary from a few years

  • When the Model Student Snaps in Class   Chapter 6

I temporarily moved in with Mr. Jefferson. He was very highly respected in his field, but he lived a simple life in a simple home. The only thing astonishing about it was that it was piled from floor to ceiling with hundreds of thousands of books. The first night, I sat on the bed in the guest room, too afraid to go to sleep. There was no one watching me solve math problems. There was no one telling me when to eat and when to use the toilet. There was no one standing at the door watching me like I was a prisoner. This freedom felt like a heavy rock smashing down against my body, and suddenly, I didn't know how to breathe anymore.…Meanwhile, the world outside seemed to have turned upside-down.Mom had a full mental breakdown after learning that Mr. Jefferson had taken me away. She called me 47 times and sent me almost 1000 text messages. At first, all of her text messages sounded worried as she asked me, "Where are you?", "Answer my calls!", and "I'm worried sick about you."

Mr. Jefferson had a kind and gentle expression on his face as he looked at me, who was close to breaking down.He then turned and said to the police officers, "I'll be handling the paperwork instead, officers. I'm Shawn's professor, and I'll also be his temporary guardian from now onward."I froze on the spot, my mind going completely blank. After Mr. Jefferson was done filling in the paperwork, I followed him out of the police station like clockwork. I kept my head down the whole time, staring at our long shadows stretching out behind us.My throat was dry and hoarse when I spoke."Mr. Jefferson, about your health—"He turned around and smiled at me reassuringly. "I'm fine. I was just faking it earlier."I was stunned. He patted my shoulder knowingly. "You've been causing trouble in class for the past three days, throwing water bottles at professors, insulting classmates, and provoking me. But you just wanted everyone to see what kind of mother you had."I lowered my head aga

Mom screamed. "Are you out of your mind? What do you think you're saying!"She lunged at me, desperately pressing my hands down."No, he didn't, officer! He's just a child! He doesn't know anything at all! It was that professor's fault for being weak. It's got nothing to do with my son at all!"My son still needs to go abroad! He's an international genius! He can't possibly go to jail for this!"I ignored her and looked into the officer's eyes again, making my words clear."Arrest me, please."…Mr. Jefferson was rushed to the hospital. Meanwhile, I was taken into custody at the police station.I spoke calmly during their interrogation."You don't have to question me anymore, officer. I'll confess to everything."I publicly insulted a full professor. I verbally sexually harassed a female classmate, I disrupted public order, and caused a negative social impact on the community."Kindly expel me from the university and then sentence me to jail. Don't let me ever go out on bail

  • When the Model Student Snaps in Class   Chapter 3

"Hey, old man, this test is way too easy for me. It's pointless," I told Mr. Jefferson. The lecture hall was deathly quiet. After a long bout of silence, someone cursed out loud."The fuck are you doing this again? Can't you just shut up for once? Is someone going to die if you just stop being a jerk?"I pretended like I never heard it and stood up, placed my hands on the desk, and stared at Mr. Jefferson."Let's have a contest. We'll both do this test at the same time. If I win, you will resign. I'll be the one taking over the podium, and you can go home and retire."But if I lose, I'll do whatever you want. Get on my knees and beg and grovel for forgiveness, or spend the rest of my time in detention, or drop out and get lost from your sight—your pick. Wanna bet?"The classroom was so quiet I could only hear my own breathing.Mr. Jefferson pushed up his glasses but didn't speak.I just smiled and walked up to the front, got onto the podium, and grabbed a piece of chalk, twirl
