Chapter 2

Autor: Big Hammer
Leonard immediately looked panicked and covered my mouth.

"Willy, what are you talking about? You can't let Ms. Sullivan hear you say that.

"I know you want to go back to the comfortable life you used to have. Just be patient. Ms. Sullivan pays well, and we'll be back on our feet soon."

I watched him lie to me with such a straight face that I actually laughed.

My hand drifted to my lower abdomen. "Leonard, what if I told you that I—"

"I'm pregnant."

Before I could finish, Xandra suddenly walked in and interrupted me.

She smiled seductively. "Come with me to church and pray for my baby."

Leonard stared at Xandra in disbelief. "How could you possibly be pregnant?"

Xandra held up a pregnancy test and nodded confidently.

"There's nothing impossible about it. Butler, come outside for a moment. Help me arrange my schedule. I want to pray properly and ask God to bless me with twins."

As she spoke, she shot me a smug look.

"That way, my husband and I will have a son and a daughter."

Leonard looked at me nervously. "Willy, I can't disobey Ms. Sullivan's orders. You'll have to put some ointment on your burns yourself for now."

Then he led Xandra out of the room, leaving me alone.

I lowered my head as tears fell onto my slightly rounded stomach.

Leonard, you really were good at putting on an act.

But I was pregnant too, Leonard.

At that moment, my phone buzzed with a new message.

It was from Xandra.

"Didn't you hear everything? Give up that cheap little love of yours. Leonard is far too good for a country bumpkin like you.

"He's already married. You're nothing but the other woman who's been interfering in someone else's marriage."

I tightened my grip on my phone as tears began to fall again.

Just three more days.

In three days, I would be gone.

I pulled myself together and walked out of the room, only to see Leonard pinning Xandra against the couch.

"Who gave you permission to get pregnant?"

Xandra wrapped her arms around his neck and said sweetly, "We're legally married. What's wrong with having a baby?"

"Only Willy is worthy of having my child. You're not."

With that, the two of them began kissing.

I turned my head away and asked hoarsely, "Ms. Sullivan, when are we leaving?"

The moment Leonard heard my voice, he hurriedly got off Xandra and looked at me guiltily. "Willy, I..."

I ignored him and helped the other household staff load everything into the car.

Leonard frowned slightly and moved to grab my arm, but Xandra stopped him.

"Ouch, I twisted my ankle. What should I do, Butler?"

The second he heard that, Leonard immediately scooped her up and carried her to the car. Then he crouched down and rubbed her ankle.

Xandra raised an eyebrow and glanced at me.

I clenched my fists and quietly turned away, refusing to look at them anymore.

Half an hour later, we arrived at the church.

Xandra climbed the church steps in her stilettos, and Leonard instinctively reached out to steady her.

She took the opportunity to lean fully into his arms.

"Why don't you pray with me?

"Don't you want to see my wish come true?"

As she spoke, she deliberately glanced toward me standing beside the altar. Her eyes were full of provocation.

"Willy, don't get the wrong idea. I just want to give my husband twins. I want all of you to pray that my wish comes true."

My fingers turned slightly white. I looked at Leonard, who hesitated for a moment before a smile appeared on his lips.

"God bless Xandra and the baby. May they both be safe and well."

The moment Leonard said it, he realized something was wrong. His eyes darted away, and he couldn't bring himself to look at me.

"Praying for Ms. Sullivan is what we're supposed to do as household staff, right, Willy?"

He still couldn't bring himself to look at me.

I gave a bitter smile and rested a hand over my pregnant belly as I turned toward the cross and prayed.

Silently, I prayed that in three days, I would finally break free from this doomed relationship and never have to see Leonard again.

Just then, Xandra suddenly gasped and grabbed Leonard's hand, pressing it against her belly.

"The baby's kicking! Feel it!"

Leonard instinctively tried to pull his hand away, but she held it firmly against her belly.

When he felt the baby kick, he froze for a moment before a smile spread across his face.

He really did love the baby growing inside Xandra.

I was about to turn and walk away when Xandra grabbed my hand.

"Willy, you should feel it too. It's amazing."

I frowned and pulled away from her touch.

But she suddenly cried out and stumbled toward a nearby candelabra.

"My stomach hurts so much... Willy, why did you push me?"

Leonard rushed down beneath the overpass in horror. He found me lifeless, my body mangled beyond recognition after being run over by passing traffic."Willy!"He stumbled toward me and pulled my broken body into his arms, trembling."No... This can't be happening. Willy, wake up."His phone vibrated violently in his pocket. "Don't give me that pathetic look."Leonard grabbed my arm. "Get in the car. You're going to apologize to Xandra."I looked at him and shook my head. "Leonard, you're married. You have a child. Why won't you just let me go?"He froze at my words. Then he caught the foul smell coming from me and covered his nose in disgust."You haven't been back to the villa all day, and now you show up looking like this. Are you trying to avoid taking responsibility again?"Willa, I'm not the same Mr. Jasper I used to be. I can't protect you anymore. Come with me to the hospital and apologize to Ms. Sullivan. Do you really want to end up in jail?"I looked up at him and let out a broken laugh."Leonard, search your conscience. What exactly do I owe you?"A dull ache in my lower abdomen made my vision go black."You said you'd take me home. You said you'd give me a happy life.
