Three months into my pregnancy, I was resting at home to ensure the baby’s health when a typhoon struck. My husband, Adam Quinn, received a call and rushed out to meet his childhood sweetheart. As a result, I experienced severe abdominal pain. The ambulance taking me to the hospital was involved in an accident, and I lost the baby. Adam arrived much later, only to blame me, saying, "Mona Thomas, why are you so useless? You couldn’t even keep the baby!"

Chapter 1

The typhoon raged, accompanied by torrential rain.

In the middle of the night, Adam Quinn answered a call, his expression darkening. "Wait for me, I'll be right there!"

Who else could make him rush out in this weather without hesitation other than Judy Clark?

I grabbed his hand. "Don’t go, I’m scared!"

I was three months pregnant and showed signs of a threatened miscarriage, so the doctor had advised me to rest at home.

However, Adam looked irritated. "Judy’s caught a cold. Can’t you be a little more understanding?"

He shook off my hand and slammed the door behind him. His urgency left me in stunned silence.

We’d been married for two years, and I was three months pregnant. By the time I learned about Judy, Adam and I were already engaged.

At the time, he was honest with me, saying Judy had been his neighbor, someone he’d grown up with.

At the time, I didn't dwell on it much, assuming that childhood sweethearts not ending up together was a clear sign of a missing spark.

But I was wrong.

Whenever Judy called, no matter where Adam was or what he was doing, he would drop everything and rush to her.

I used to argue with him about it, but Adam would only say, "Mona, why are you so petty? Judy’s alone; of course, I need to help her! I love you, not her. Don’t worry about it."

Later, when we got married, Judy even bought a house in our neighborhood.

And now, just because she had a cold, Adam could leave his pregnant wife and go out in the middle of the night.

I couldn’t help but laugh bitterly and shook my head. If he wanted to go, then let him go.

I tried to go back to sleep, but the howling wind outside made my heart pound anxiously. Occasionally, the sound of car alarms pierced through the storm.

It seemed yet another tree had been uprooted. I couldn’t help but wonder which stubborn soul had left their car parked outside in such weather.

At that moment, a loud crash came from the living room, followed by the sound of shattering glass. My heart skipped a beat!

Trembling, I opened the door. The entire house was pitch black; the power was out.

A gust of wind tore through the space, and I froze in disbelief—the window was gone!

I distinctly remembered asking Adam to secure it!

Panicked, I retreated to the bedroom and grabbed my phone to call Adam, but no one answered.

I didn’t dare step outside, so I curled up in a corner, hugging myself tightly.

It took forever, but dawn finally arrived. Wiping the sweat from my forehead, I tried to stand, only to feel a dull ache in my belly. Heading to the bathroom, I froze in shock.

There was blood!

To make matters worse, the water was out too!

Fear gripped me. At three months, my pregnancy was still unstable. I needed to get to the hospital immediately.

I quickly dialed Adam’s number again. After ringing for what felt like forever, the call was finally answered.

Judy’s voice greeted me. "Oh, it’s you, Mona. Adam stayed with me all night and just fell asleep. Do you need something?"

"Can you wake him? I need to talk to him."

"Oh, Adam’s exhausted. If it’s not urgent, maybe let him rest a bit longer?"

My heart sank.

“Adam, you’re unbelievable,” I thought.

Glancing outside, I took a few photos of the wreckage and sent them to Adam.

I called for an ambulance. In this situation, I couldn’t afford to take any risks.

Thankfully, the ambulance arrived quickly and took me to the hospital.

However, just as we crossed an intersection, a powerful gust of wind caused the vehicle to sway uncontrollably, slamming it into a roadside flower bed. I was thrown hard against the interior, and a sharp pain tore through my belly.

“The pregnant woman is bleeding! Hang in there!”

My vision blurred, and I grasped the nurse’s arm desperately. “Call Adam Quinn! He’s my husband!”

The nurse found the contact labeled "Husband" in my phone and dialed. But the person who answered was a woman.

"Mona, Adam is already asleep. Whatever it is, just wait until tomorrow!"

Before I could say anything, she hung up.

A wave of despair washed over me, and tears rolled uncontrollably down my face.

The nurse looked a bit uncomfortable but quickly tried to comfort me. “Please stay strong. Your baby needs you!”
