Chapter 2

ผู้เขียน: Round Belly
The estate’s front gate was replaced with the same reinforced alloy used in tank armor, completely bulletproof and impossible to break through by force.

The keypad and keyhole mounted on the surface were nothing more than decorations.

The real control system was linked to a remote in my possession.

Without it, no one could open the gate.

If anyone tried entering a password or picking the lock, a hidden micro-camera above the entrance would immediately scan their face and send the footage directly to my phone.

If the person had a criminal record, the system would issue an additional alert.

A full three-hundred-sixty-degree surveillance system was equally essential.

Besides the sixteen visible security cameras, another twenty miniature cameras were hidden throughout the property.

It wasn’t an exaggeration to say that even a fly wouldn’t be able to enter unnoticed.

Every window in the villa was replaced with one-way glass. I could see everything outside, while no one could peek in and learn what was happening inside the house.

Finally, I ordered every ornamental plant in the courtyard cut down.

Since there were already so many workers on-site, I had them loosen and replace all the soil as well.

I planned to turn the courtyard into a vegetable garden.

That way, even during the apocalypse, I’d still be able to eat fresh produce.

When everything was finally complete, even the security consultant laughed and asked if I really needed to make such a huge fuss over inheriting an estate.

He joked that after spending money like this, there probably wouldn’t be much left of my inheritance.

I didn’t bother explaining.

I only joked back that if some massive disaster ever happened, all of this would come in handy.

I glanced at the calendar, surprised by how quickly time had passed. Thankfully, the estate renovations were completed three days before the apocalypse began.

Even though I already knew no one could escape tomorrow’s disaster, I still found myself unable to sleep for the first time in ages.

As I tossed and turned in bed, a mechanical voice suddenly rang out in my head.

[Congratulations, Host. You have successfully bound to the Apocalypse Survival System. Detected: initial shelter renovation completed. Reward points will now be issued.]

A system?

Reward points?

I had no idea why something like this had appeared, but one thing was certain—this would greatly increase my chances of surviving until the very end of the apocalypse.

After browsing through all the rewards the system offered, I chose to upgrade the estate’s underground cold storage into an infinite-capacity preservation space capable of keeping food permanently fresh.

The enormous cellar instantly solved the problem of my home having only two refrigerators and one freezer.

Anything stored inside would remain untouched by expiration dates, meaning I could stockpile food without any worries.

On the final day before the apocalypse, after carefully screening candidates, I hired a private chef along with ten retired special forces soldiers who were former special forces soldiers.

I wasn’t much of a cook. It would’ve been ridiculous if the zombies failed to kill me, only for my own cooking to finish the job instead.

I promised them that as long as they worked loyally here, I would provide them with more than enough food and clean water.

At first, they had no idea what I was talking about, but I wasn’t in a hurry. I simply told them to stay the night and give me their answer the next morning.

On the final night before the apocalypse, sleep completely eluded me.

Unable to rest, I got up and began checking my supplies one by one.

My wardrobe was stocked with enough underwear and clothes for regular changes.

I still didn’t know how long the apocalypse would last.

Even though it was still summer, warm clothing was absolutely essential.

I had also stockpiled boxes upon boxes of tampons.

During times like these, poor hygiene could easily lead to infections.

Even in the apocalypse, personal hygiene wasn’t something I could afford to neglect.

The shelves inside the cold cellar were packed with fresh meat, vegetables, and fruit—enough to feed everyone in the house for well over a decade.

Combined with the mountains of instant food stored outside, surviving until the government found a solution wouldn’t be a problem.

Once I confirmed everything was in place, I finally returned to bed and closed my eyes.

  • When the Zombie Horde Came, I Built the Ultimate Shelter   Chapter 15

I let out a cold, mocking laugh.I’d said it from the very beginning that someone stupid enough to spend all their time hurting others was doomed to fail, no matter how powerful their cheat abilities were.Suddenly, Sharon lunged for the gun lying on the ground and pulled the trigger at me without the slightest hesitation.Everything happened too fast.No one had time to react. The smile on her face had become almost insane, as if she could already see herself inheriting everything here after my death.I only sneered in response. If I dared stand there without dodging, it was obviously because I was wearing body armor. What I didn’t expect was that just before the bullet reached me, the zombie bird suddenly burst out from nowhere and threw itself in front of me.The bullet slammed into its hardened feathers with a sharp metallic clang. The moment Sharon saw the zombie bird clearly, terror flooded her face. She opened her mouth to scream, but before a sound could escape, the bird clampe

She had gone insane.A few seconds later, I suddenly sat upright.Wait…Could it be that the eggs had hatched?Zombies didn’t need food to survive, but baby birds were different.Even though zombies couldn’t feel pain, they still instinctively avoided danger like the acid rain. And yet this zombie bird had actually suppressed that instinct for the sake of its children. No matter what, the bird indirectly helped me more than once. It patrolled the estate every day and dealt with wandering zombies, saving me plenty of trouble. It was probably time I returned the favor.I rushed up to the attic and stood in front of the window where the zombie bird could clearly see me.A creature that wouldn’t even allow zombies into the courtyard obviously wouldn’t tolerate me casually invading its territory either. The moment it spotted me, it immediately swooped toward the attic. But I reacted quickly, placing a plate of blueberries inside before slamming the door shut. There was no telling how long t

Before he passed away, Dad had originally planned to build a greenhouse on the estate grounds. He just never got the chance to finish it.And somehow, the system’s special reward was completing that greenhouse for me, which meant I finally had a place where I could grow crops. The moment I entered the system-built greenhouse, I froze in shock.Rich, fertile soil stretched endlessly into the distance before me.On the other side stood livestock pens already stocked with feed.I could not only farm crops here; I could raise animals too.Excited beyond words, I immediately scattered a handful of seeds into the soil. What happened next left me stunned. The seeds began sprouting at a speed visible to the naked eye.Clearly, the greenhouse didn’t just provide endless farmland; it accelerated growth itself. At this rate, I’d be harvesting my own produce within days.I instantly exchanged points for young livestock as well.If plants grew this quickly here, then animals probably would too.I

The moment I stepped outside, the scorching heat nearly knocked me unconscious, even through the system-made protective suit. But the memory of being torn apart alive by zombies in my previous life forced me to stay calm.I clutched my rifle tightly and sprinted toward the top of the wall. The other guards were already firing nonstop. One of them nearly broke down as he shouted that they had already tried using explosives to blow apart the zombie pile. But the bombs barely did any damage.Worse, one of the zombies had actually picked up a grenade and thrown it back at them. If its aim had been even slightly better, they would’ve been blown to pieces. At this point, the only reliable way to kill zombies was still destroying their brains.I frowned deeply.Just during the first week of the apocalypse, I was still able to burn large groups of zombies to death by detonating abandoned cars. And yet only a short time later, even explosives were becoming ineffective against them.My fears had

She wasn’t dead, just unconscious. But I had no interest in worrying about her.A quick glance to the side immediately caught my attention instead. My vegetable sprouts had started curling up at the edges. They were perfectly healthy yesterday. My heart ached a little.I reached out to touch one of the wilted leaves and a snowflake suddenly landed in my palm.I didn’t realize then that the snowflake was only the beginning.Over the next week, the daytime temperature continued climbing to terrifying levels, eventually reaching nearly 140 degrees Fahrenheit at its hottest. But once night fell, the temperature would plummet to almost negative sixty. The difference between day and night was so extreme it felt insane.Even though it was technically still summer, every night I could see thick layers of snow piling up outside, only for it to rapidly evaporate beneath the scorching heat the next morning.Sharon hadn’t come looking for trouble in quite some time now.During the day, zombies cro

  • When the Zombie Horde Came, I Built the Ultimate Shelter   Chapter 10

I barely had a few peaceful days before another alert came in late one night.Sharon was outside my estate again. Then again, it made sense. Her system was a Resource Plundering System. She only earned points by stealing from others, unlike me.My Apocalypse Survival System rewarded me for killing zombies and farming crops, which meant I could live comfortably in the apocalypse without risking my life scheming against people every day.And whenever I dealt with one of Sharon’s ridiculous little plots, my survival points only increased further, making my already comfortable life even better.Sharon clearly assumed my estate had already lost power.Even if I had backup electricity, she probably believed there was no way it could support a place this large for long. That was why she finally dared to show up openly tonight.I watched through the monitor as she lowered her head and rummaged through her backpack. For the first time in a long while, my heartbeat climbed into my throat.Sharo
