Adeline's POV' The words hung in the air between us like a death sentence. "Let's get a divorce, Blake." I watched his face change. The surprise, the anger, and then something darker. Something that made my blood run cold. Blake stepped closer to the hospital bed, his eyes narrowing. "What makes you think you can leave me after all this? You're the one who wanted this marriage, remember?" My heart pounded, but I forced myself to meet his gaze. "But I regret it." He laughed, but there was no humor in it. Just cruelty.
