Chapter 4

Author: Justine Randall
Lucy said with a trembling hoarse voice, "Wyatt, can't you see the state I'm in?" She raised her arm, covered in red patches. It was a terrifying sight to behold.

Wyatt was silent for a moment before saying, "Eva hasn't rested for an entire day! The bracelet must be done tonight!"

"What if I say no?" Lucy's eyes reddened, yet she had no more tears to cry. "Are you going to lock me up in the cellar again, letting those insects bite me to death?"

Wyatt could not bear to see Lucy like that, so he shut his eyes helplessly. "Lulu, just bear with it for a while. Once Eva has completely recovered, once I've repaid her for saving my life, we'll be back to before," he said.

Then, he placed a few thick thorny branches next to her and said, "If you're not going to do it, the bodyguards will make you. Apparently, it's best to use human blood to make these protective bracelets."

He left, slamming the door shut behind him.

A few bodyguards approached Lucy. "Mrs. Grant, please don't waste any time. Mr. Grant said that these thorns are to be picked up with your fingers. Every bead needs to be sanded down as well."

That night, Lucy did not rest at all. Her fingers were pricked by thorns and bled by the torment of the rough sandpaper.

Finally, in the early hours of morning, Eva smiled in satisfaction. "Wyatt, the bracelet sure is useful. My head stops hurting the moment I put it on."

Wyatt replied gently, "That's great. Good girl. Go to sleep. I'll be here."

Lucy slowly curled up in the corner of the bed, touching her injured fingers, watching the blood drip onto the bed. She chuckled self-deprecatingly as tears fell.

Once, just a prick from the rose was more than enough for Wyatt to feel guilty, yet at that moment, he forced her to make a bracelet with her blood-stained fingers to please another woman.

How could they possibly go back to before? Her love for him was all gone.

The next day, Eva had slept well due to the bracelet. She was in such a good mood that she took Wyatt out on a trip.

Lucy only found out from social media that they had gone to Grecia to see the sunset. The photos were against the white walls of Sandorine, with Eva holding Wyatt's hand.

There was also a caption.

[In the tenth year of liking you, I finally got what I wanted…]

Looking at the photo, Lucy's heart felt empty, but surprisingly, it was no longer painful.

She took her wedding ring off. Then, she went to the garden and pulled out all the bellflowers by their roots, throwing them into the bin.

After doing all that, she opened her laptop and logged onto her social media, filled with insults and criticism. She set a post to be published at a specific time.

[When this letter goes out, I'm no longer around…]

She had taken a long time to write her final note. When she finally finished, she heard a car entering the yard. Then, Wyatt hurriedly rushed inside.

"Why did you destroy all the bellflowers? Lulu, I thought you liked them. I planted them for you all those years ago."

Somehow, his face was a little pale. There was also a little blood on his sleeves.

Lucy looked at him calmly as she closed her laptop. "The roots are rotten. Just plant something else in the future."

Wyatt was relieved to hear her mention the future. "Alright, I'll plant something else for you."

Lucy was tied up, and she could not move. She shut her eyes in despair.Right at that moment, Wyatt crawled over to her. He had found a gas mask, and with his remaining energy, he put it on Lucy."Wyatt, you'll die…" Lucy resisted with a tremble. She might not have noticed it, but she was crying.Wyatt wiped her tears and smiled at her. "But you'll live."Human emotions were rarely simple. Love and hate could exist side by side, just as desire could live beneath disdain.Even after many years, Lucy still could not understand why she was crying at that moment. The poisonous gas had taken its effect. Wyatt was already unconscious, while Lucy was starting to lose hers. She tried to wake him up to get him to hold on longer. Finally, she heard the police sirens ringing loudly outside the warehouse.Lucy had slept for a long time. When she woke up, she was at the hospital. Her finger twitched. She looked at Shane by the side of the bed and suddenly sat up."Don't worry, Lucy. Every

When Lucy came around, she realized that she was blindfolded. Her entire body felt weak after being drugged, and her hands were tied behind her back.Lucy quickly went through the possibilities of who would want to kidnap her. She was very sure it was not Wyatt, because if he had wanted to take her away, he would not have treated her like that.Soon, she heard a rustling sound next to her. She immediately asked, "Who's there?""Lulu?" A familiar voice, slightly hoarse, said, "Lulu, is that you?"She could not believe that Wyatt had also been kidnapped. They were both tied up and sitting on the floor.Once Wyatt realized that it was both of them who were kidnapped, he yelled, "Come out! Eva, is that you!"The minute he said that, the clicking of high heels suddenly rang out."As expected from the man I have loved for so long." Eva sounded a little malicious. She bent down and took off their blindfolds. The once dazzling heiress looked sickly, like she had been through intense to

Wyatt had returned to the country for almost a week.On the fourth day, Brandon Chapman, the one who held the auction, was arrested on a tip that he had vast amounts of photos of underage girls. He was taken to the police station for questioning. If everything went accordingly, he would be locked up for life. When Wyatt came out of the cellar, his assistant could barely look at his arms. "Mr. Grant, you were right. It was Mr. Dwight who reported Mr. Chapman. Shall I get you to the hospital?"Wyatt was barely standing straight. He was trying to hold back the pain and itch from the insect bites."No need. Get me the earliest flight to Itaile." Although he was weak, his eyes were filled with determination. "Also, get me a thorny branch and some sandpaper."Two days later, Lucy had stepped out of the bakery to feed some stray cats when she saw that mess of a man.Only a week had passed, and Wyatt had lost a lot of weight. His pants flapped in the sea breeze. He put his hand in his po

"Why should I stop talking? You can't take it already? Just like that? Hah! A husband who keeps saying that he loves his wife would let a group of people slap her?"Sure! You were only doing it for Eva, right? She's a murderer. She can die, for all I care. A scumbag like you should join her!"Lucy's words stabbed deeply into Wyatt's heart.Lucy continued, saying, "Wyatt, don't ever appear in front of me again!"The window rolled up as the car drove away. Wyatt felt so lethargic that he bent down and sobbed into his hands.Silence hung thickly in the car. Lucy took deep breaths to calm herself down. Somehow, she felt relieved, something she had not felt in a long time.Shane looked solemn. What Lucy had said affected him terribly. He was not only stunned but also angry on her behalf. He suddenly slammed on the brakes and stopped by the side of the road. He could not help but look at Lucy. Not knowing where to start, he said, "Lucy, you…""You don't have to comfort me, nor shoul

Lucy knew that Wyatt would not give up that easily. He knelt in front of her apartment for the entire night. The next morning, Lucy deliberately left home earlier, but on the way to the bakery, a red sports car started tailing her."Lulu, please give me a chance to make it up to you. Please? I know I'm a scumbag that doesn't deserve your forgiveness. No matter how I kneel or punish myself, it is not even a thousandth of the despair you've been through."But I never once thought of divorcing you. I've sent Eva to a mental asylum. I never once liked her."His pleading made Lucy furrow her brows. He had only managed to annoy her even more. She stopped in her tracks and crossed her arms, sneering at Wyatt in the car. Before she could say anything, another sports car rammed into the back of Wyatt's car. The back of Wyatt's car completely caved in, and he crashed into a tree. The man who crashed into Wyatt got out of the car. He was in a gray suit. Shane walked over and looked at the
