Chapter 7

Author: Windie
Felix stared at his empty hand, his expression darkening. He quickly followed her.

“Wendy!”

He caught up with her beside the car and grabbed her wrist.

“Enough of this! Today is our third wedding anniversary. There's a party waiting for us at the family estate, and we've invited plenty of guests. You're coming home with me.”

Their wedding anniversary?

Wendy almost laughed.

He'd just dragged her out of hell, and now he expected her to attend some ridiculous anniversary party?

Felix didn't wait for an answer.

He forced her into the car.

When they arrived at the Foster family estate, the place was brightly lit and filled with elegantly dressed guests, chatting and raising their glasses.

During the gift presentation, Felix gave Wendy several sets of priceless jewelry in front of everyone.

The lavish display immediately drew murmurs of admiration.

“Mr. Foster really spoils his wife!”

“I know! Who would've thought someone as cold and reserved as him could be so devoted to a woman?”

“Miss Walker comes from a distinguished family, and she's absolutely gorgeous. Sure, she's got a fiery temper, but that just makes her more exciting! Now, look at Grace, the younger Mrs. Foster. She comes from an ordinary background, and her husband's a complete playboy. Some women really do have all the luck.”

Wendy heard the conversations around her, but her face remained expressionless.

It was as though they were talking about someone else entirely.

In a corner of the ballroom, Grace overheard the comparisons.

Her expression immediately soured.

She shot Wendy a hateful glare before turning and leaving the room.

Wendy paid her no attention.

Just then, a server accidentally spilled wine onto the hem of her evening gown.

She got up and went upstairs to change.

But after putting on a fresh dress, she was about to head downstairs when she suddenly stopped.

Someone had coated the smooth marble steps with a layer of clear oil!

If she hadn't noticed and had stepped onto them, the consequences could have been disastrous.

A chill ran through her.

Then came a surge of fury.

She immediately ordered someone to investigate.

It didn't take long to uncover the truth.

Grace had arranged the whole thing!

Wendy's expression turned icy.

She headed straight to Grace's room to confront her.

But just as she reached the door and was about to push it open, she heard Grace speaking quietly on the phone.

“They had no right to compare me to Wendy! I wanted her to fall down those stairs and end up crippled! Let's see how smug she is then! And let's see if Felix would still want her if she were disabled!”

Wendy couldn't take another second.

She shoved the door open.

Before Grace could react, Wendy slapped her hard across the face.

“Grace Jones! You're absolutely vile!”

Without giving Grace a chance to recover, Wendy spotted a decorative walking stick propped against the wall.

She snatched it up and swung it at Grace's legs with all her strength.

“Ah!”

Grace screamed.

The unmistakable crack of breaking bone rang through the room.

“Wendy Walker! Have you lost your mind?! How dare you hit me?! Felix won't let you get away with this!”

Grace's face twisted in agony as she screamed abuse at Wendy.

Wendy's expression remained cold.

She delivered another brutal blow, this time kicking Grace squarely in the chest.

The force sent Grace flying through the open balcony doorway.

Splash!

Grace plunged into the cold swimming pool below, sending water spraying into the air.

“Help! Somebody... help!”

She thrashed desperately in the water.

With her leg broken, she couldn't swim.

Chaos erupted in the ballroom.

Several people rushed to the pool and hauled Grace out.

She collapsed onto the ground, soaked and helpless, looking like a fish out of water.

Felix hurried over when he heard what had happened.

The moment he saw the scene, his expression darkened.

He glanced at Grace, who was drenched, shivering, and sobbing uncontrollably.

Then his sharp gaze snapped toward Wendy, who stood calmly on the staircase.

“Wendy! Was this your doing again?!”

His voice shook with suppressed anger.

Grace immediately grabbed the leg of his pants and began sobbing.

“Felix! I don't know what I did to upset Wendy! She just barged into my room and broke my leg, then kicked me into the pool! She must still hate me because you had her thrown in jail last time!”

Felix turned to Wendy, his eyes cold.

“Is that true?”

Wendy met his gaze, her voice clear and calm.

“No! I only went after her because she...”

“Enough!”

Felix cut her off sharply, refusing to hear another word.

“I don't care what she said or did to you! Nothing justifies treating her with such cruelty! Besides, you've always been the one throwing tantrums and causing trouble! What could Grace possibly have done to you?!

“Do you think being born into a wealthy family and having me indulge your every whim gives you the right to do whatever you want? To bully people whenever you please?!”

Wendy stared at him.

There wasn't a trace of trust in his eyes, only judgment and prejudice.

Every accusation twisted the truth, cutting into her heart like a thousand needles.

The pain was so intense she could barely breathe.

What was the point of explaining anything?

In Felix's eyes, Wendy would always be wrong.

And Grace would always be innocent.

Wendy's lips curved into a bleak, humorless smile.

“Felix Foster, believe whatever you want.”

Forever.”With that, she turned away without sparing him another glance. She reached for Leo's arm and leaned gently against him.Leo slipped an arm around her waist and cast one last cold look at Felix, who remained kneeling in the snow, looking as though every last bit of life had drained from him. Then he guided Wendy toward the warmly lit glass cabin.Wendy never looked back.Felix remained motionless in the freezing snow, like a statue abandoned to the elements. He watched the two figures in matching white coats disap
