I don't want to marry him

The night was silent and Kiara could feel her heartbeat escalate looking at the emotionless man in front of her. He was way taller than her, donning a dark blue tailor made suit which showed off his strong and muscular physique. He had almond shaped black eyes with a set of thick eyebrows. His jawline looked chiselled to perfection; even though his hair was not long, it still had bangs which fell over his forehead.

Kiara forced herself to come back to her senses, she never wanted to meet him again in this lifetime but here they were standing face to face. "You! Why are you here? Where is Darren?" Kiara asked furiously, she could not contain the emotions of anger and disappointment she was experiencing right now.

The man's expression didn't change but his eyes did reveal some anger, "Darren? You were here for him?"

Kiara didn't find it necessary to answer his question and said, "I was told I was going to marry him today."

Icarus stayed mum for a moment before saying, "You were to marry the Alpha of the Reed Hunters."

"Yes!" Kiara said; this was what her mother told her that her marriage was arranged to the Alpha which should be Darren given to him being older. A sinister smile appeared on the man's face, "Too bad because I am the Alpha now and you are getting married to me."

"What?" Kiara couldn't believe her ears that were hearing his words.

Icarus Vuron was Darren's younger brother; unlike the warm and friendly Darren he was more of a cold troublemaker who never liked the company of anyone. He was the worst, how did he end up as the head of the whole pack now?

Kiara was not a wolf and had no idea how this worked, she didn't even want to be in the same place as this man anymore. She said, "I am not marrying a monster like you. I am out of here."

Sophia was watching all this from afar, she was confused on what was happening as she remembered the two to have a friendly relationship.

Icarus was watching her storm away, he nonchalantly picked up his phone and dialled his assistant. In a tone that she could hear, he started speaking, "Hey, you are at the hospital, right?"

Hospital? As soon as Kiara heard this word she stopped in her tracks. Icarus smirked seeing the things fold out as he expected and carried on, "Pull back the hospital fee. No need to save the old man as his daughter is going back on the promise."

"What?" Kiara did not expect this, "You monster! First you ruin my life and now you are going to ruin my family. How can you be this cold hearted?"

Icarus looked down at her without any particular emotion on his face but instead of responding to her, he said, "Yeah, inform her mother and leave."

"No! Stop this. Don't do this."

It didn't even take a minute for Kiara's phone to ring, as soon as she picked it up she heard Lidia's angry voice, "You! What did you do? Why are they saying they can't help us anymore?"

"Mom… that… I don't want to marry him!" Kiara said, her voice was no more angry but sounded desperate. She hoped for some mercy but was retaliated back by Lidia, "Are you this unfilial? This man brought you home and gave you a life. Are you going to let him die? Is this how you are going to pay back for the kindness Smiths showed you all these years."

"I… but…" Kiara could not argue back; it was true, if not for Harold Smith she would have been still in that orphanage, probably sold to some shady business by now. She could never do this to her family; the girl closed her eyes and fought back her tears, "Okay, mom. I will do as you say."

Standing behind her Icarus nonchalantly corrected his jacket and walked into the office leaving her behind; Kiara looked at his back and completely admitting her defeat followed him.

Sophia was repulsed by what had just happened, she stopped Kiara and said, "This is absurd. This is not the Icarus I remember, he is basically forcing you into marrying him."

Kiara casted a heartbroken smile, "This is not the first time he has forced me, Sophia. And just like that time, I am powerless and unable to do anything."

Sophia wasn't unable to decipher the meaning behind her words but knew things were not as simple as they seemed.

Kiara and Icarus didn't speak at all while they were going through the documentation process; even in the picture none of them smiled and looked forced together.

After the certificate was issued Kiara looked at her name in it, she was no more a Smith but a Vuron- the Luna of Reed Hunters.

Icarus stared at his certificate for a few seconds before shoving it inside the pocket in his coat, he fished out his phone and typed out a text, providing a green signal for the operation to commence. He looked at Kiara and said, "Since you are Mrs Vuron now, behave like one as well."

Saying these words the man left, leaving behind the two girls in a state of shock and disbelief. Sophia cursed, "What is wrong with him? How did he go from being a prince to a complete douchebag?"

Kiara sighed, she understood very well what he meant but she wasn't going to succumb in front of him again. She said, "Let's deal with it for a few days. Once the company is revived and back to normal, I will divorce him."

Sophia thought it was a great plan but she had another concern in her mind, "Kiara, are you going to give up on Derren now?" The girl pursed her lips, not knowing how to answer this question. Sophia continued, "You know right even if you divorce Icarus, Darren would never consider a woman associated with his brother."

"I guess… My love story was meant to end up one-sided."

The following day, Harold Smith's operation was successful and he had even come back to his senses. He was more delighted upon waking up knowing that the company was saved. The whole family was gathered and were keeping him company; Harold looked at his daughter's marriage certificate in disbelief.

"Are you… really married, Kiara?" He asked, a hint of sadness clouding his eyes. Kiara forced a smile and nodded, "It was the only way we had."

"I…" The man didn't know what to say, he satiated himself by saying that it was just a marriage registration and they still had the wedding to commence. He said, "We will always be grateful to that young man. He has practically saved our family; take good care of him, Kiara."

Just as he finished speaking they heard knocking on the door, coming in was Icarus with his Assistant, Stefan. "Mr Smith." The man said before passing him the bouquet, "I hope you are well." Kiara turned away bitterly, not wanting to see him. The man noticed it but he didn't say anything as he proceeded to sit down on the stool next to the bed. Even though they had been living amongst the humans for centuries now, Icarus still looked distinguished from them. Was it his godly appearance or his aristocratic aura, no one could tell.

Harold said, "Son, thank you for saving me and my company. We can never thank you enough for this."

"It's no problem. The kinship between our families goes for centuries, we only wish for your well being."

"The kinship has turned into a relationship now. Haha!" Harold said, looking at Kiara who was faking her smile. The man continued, "Even though she is not my biological daughter, I have loved her more than my own blood. Please keep her happy, Icarus."

"Yes! I will." He uttered solemnly; Kiara wanted to throw up on how fake he was being. She could also say that this monster was scheming something but couldn't exactly tell what. The atmosphere of the room turned breezy and they engaged in small business talks until Harold asked, "So, Icarus, since you are married now are you guys going to move in together."

The handsome man nodded before saying, "Yes, that was one of the main things I wanted to discuss here." He then elaborated himself, "Since she is the Luna now, she will have to move in with me to the castle. I was here to seek your permission to take your daughter."

"That…." Mr Smith wanted to say something but was cut through by Kiara, "Dad, you are sick. I want to stay back with you for a while before leaving."

Harold laughed, "Sweetheart, I know you care for me but you are a wife now. You will have to start living with your husband. Besides, I have your mom and sister to take care of me; I will be fine. We are in the same town, you can visit me anytime." The man then turned to Icarus and said, "You can take her to your place right now. We will pack her things and send them to you."
