CHAPTER 6:TESTING

Walking into the mall, Amelia walked straight to the section for female office wears to select and try on new clothes suitable for her job description. She didn’t want to look too cheap, this is why she had started saving money since Bridget was in her senior year so that she’d be able to afford quality wears for herself when she eventually gets an office job. So she went to the quality section and chose a number of short straight skirts, shirts, gowns, and office trousers. She also bought dinner gowns for herself because she knew she’d definitely be following her new boss to several dinners when she eventually starts the job.

“I’d like to pay for all these please” Amie said to the cashier after getting all the wears she wanted to get.

“Alright ma’am please give me your card so I can ring it for you” The cashier replied stretching out her hand to collect the card from Amie and placing it into the machine for payment.

“All done ma’am, thanks for your patronage. Here are your things. The cashier said to Amie after ringing her card for payment and packing the wears properly into shopping bags.

“Thank you, have a nice day” Amie replied, picking up her things and leaving the mall.

“Taxi!!” Amie called out, stretching her hands to stop a taxi.

“Oak wood-Vaughan, York, please” Amie said to the driver after shutting the door.

“Alright ma’am” The driver replied starting the engine of the car and zooming off.

”Hey son”  Nelson’s mum greeted as soon as she saw him walk out of his room.

“Hi mum” He replied, walking to the kitchen to grab a drink.

“I didn’t hear you come in, I was fast asleep because I got bored in this big house of yours after you left in the morning. This is the reason why I keep telling you to get a girlfriend. Give a woman a chance in your life Nelson” His mum said to him, following him into the kitchen as she also wanted to get a glass of water.

“Oh please mum, not this again. I already agreed to meet up with the girl you set me up with and have dinner with her, so what else do you want from me ? Nelson replied, disgust clearly sitting on his face as he is very tired of having to hear the same thing over and over again.

“Oh come on, I know better than to trust you son. Yes you will go on a date with her but would you actually follow up on having a relationship with her after that? His mum asked him, turning to face her son.

“If I like her mum, I promise, I will follow up and pursue a relationship with her” Nelson promised his mum.

“Are you serious son? Well don’t worry about not liking her, she is a very good girl and she’s beautiful too, so trust me when I say you definitely will like her” His mum said with so much enthusiasm in her voice. Finally her son was going to have a woman in his life.

“ Now if you will excuse me mum, I have a dinner to prepare for” Nelson said, exiting the kitchen and going back into his room to prepare for the dinner.

       When Amie got back home, she didn’t meet any of her family members at home. Sam and Micah had gone to the field to play football with their friends, Bridget had gone over to her best friend's house, their mum had gone to the grocery shop as usual, while their dad had gone over to the fish pond for new catches.Since she was the only one at home, she decided to take a nap as she was already exhausted from all the stress. She slept for three hours straight before waking up to the ring of the door bell. Lazily dragging herself off of the couch she walked slowly to open the door.

“Hey baby girl, you didn’t even call me to ask how my date went last night” Dianna said walking in immediately Amie opened the door.

“Hey best friend, I’m really sorry. I was so tired yesterday that I went straight to bed after I had dinner” Amie replied, closing the door before walking back into the sitting area with Dianna.

“Oh I see, well it’s fine. Since you didn’t call to hear the gist, I’ve come in person to give you the full break down of the gist. Dianna said, taking a seat on the two sitter couch after going to grab a drink from the fridge in the kitchen.

“Ok ok, I’m listening” Amie said, giving up on going back to sleep.

“So I wore the dress you picked for me of course and my new black heels, the one I bought when we went shopping two weeks ago, I did a very light make-up and I was ready to bounce. Kelvin surprised me by coming to pick me from home” Dianna started.

“Wait, I thought you said he doesn’t know your place” Said Amie.

“I know right, that was what made it so intriguing, he picked me up and took me to a fancy restaurant where he had booked for just the two of us. I never knew he had that kind of money, though I knew he was a very rich guy.” Dianna continued.

“Wow that must have been a very wonderful sight to behold” Amie said in awe.

“Fast forward to the most interesting part, he ordered for both of us both food and wine, and over food we discussed about everything we were meant to discuss and that was when he told me about his family. Can you believe that he is actually a distant cousin of the famous Nelson Rodriguez and he has his own skincare company? I was so shocked that someone of that high class can be so humble. After food, he asked me to dance and that was when he confessed his feelings to me and said he’d love to take our relationship to the next level” Dianna said, giggling and blushing.

“So does that mean what I think it means?” Amie asked feeling so excited for her friend.

“Well, yes it does!! I and Kelvin are now officially in a serious relationship Amie” Dianna said smiling and blushing so hard.

“Oh my gosh Dee, I’m so happy for you. Finally you’re off the street. This is good news” Amie said, giving her friend a very big hug to show her how happy she is.

“As happy as I am Amie, I honestly hope and pray that this relationship is my last and final ship, because I’m starting to fall in love with Kelvin and I don’t want to loose him” Dianna said looking a little worried for herself.

“Don’t worry Dee, things that are meant to be, will eventually fall into place. Just be hopeful and enjoy every moment of it” Amie said to Dianna before giving her another hug.

“Thanks Amie. I see you curled your hair, well you look so beautiful and this new look gives the vibe of sexiness and elegance” Dianna said, finally paying attention to Amie’s new look.  

“Thanks Dee, you finally noticed. Now come with me to my room, let me show you the new clothes I bought for my new job” Amie said, dragging her friend up the stairs to her room to show her all the things she bought.
