Chapter 842

Outside the hospital, while holding Edward's wheelchair, the bodyguard said, "Come on. Let's get you home, Mr. Fowler."

Edward simply sat there, staring blankly at the hospital. He had been thrown out, yet he hadn't left. He wanted to wait for word that Macie had made it through surgery safely.

"Send someone in to keep an eye on things. Let me know as soon as there's any news," Edward ordered.

The bodyguard did as he was told, while Edward remained rooted to the spot, his lonely figure blending into the night. He didn't know what he was supposed to do. How could he ever win Macie back?

Even if he spent five or ten years trying to win her back and be with her, the Hales would surely oppose it. By then, she might have been married off to someone else.

A crushing sense of helplessness sank into his chest. He was well aware that he had no one to blame but himself. He had made this bed himself, and now he had to lie in it.
