Chapter 2

He managed to compose himself, but not fast enough. I'd already seen the look of disgust on his face.

“Yes my mate is beautiful.” He said with a fake smile. As we were about to enter the pack house I heard someone call out to me,well not just someone my mate.

“Beta Brandon, wait up.” She called, waving her arms signaling me.

She ran over to me and placed her hand on my shoulder as she tried to catch her breath. The touch felt sensational and pleasurable.

I started wishing to be able to take her here and now.

Run my fingers through her brown hair and look into those big beautiful eyes and kiss the heck out of her. But I can’t so I’ll have to settle for small talk.

“Ohh Alpha James, how are you?” She asked sweetly.

“I'm ok thank you ,all excited for your internship at the counsel next couple of weeks.”

“Yep all ready.” She replied.

“Am.. Brandon, I mean beta Brandon, Gabriel asked me to ask you if I could get a lift home. He also said if I pouted my lips like this you’d say yes.”

She said stretching her lower lips. But that’s not what caught my attention, it’s the feeling that coursed through my veins sending tingles down my spin and butterflies in my stomach.

And the way my name just rolls off her tongue like it’s nobody's business it makes me smile like a big man child.

“I can’t wait for her to feel what I’ve felt.”

In between listening to the conversation between my mate and Alpha james, I felt palo stirring in the back of my head. ‘Danger, Brandon, get her away from that man.’ He huffed.

I never understand why palo takes so much offense to Alpha James, but he’s my wolf and if he says get her out of here I need to get her out of here.

“I'm sorry alpha, we need to leave, it's getting late and her parents are expecting her.” I said to Alpha James.

I grabbed her by the hand instantly causing bolts of electricity through my body and we got out of there quickly. As we walked towards the car I saw a fuming Luna walking towards Alpha James, this was the first time I’d ever seen her so mad. And from the little I heard from the conversation it looked like he did something he wasn’t to have done.

After we got into the car I turned up the radio and listened to her sing along to the sounds that played. She’s so young and so full of life that’s exactly what I want her to continue being once she finds out we’re mates.

I’m twenty four and I wasn't exactly excited by the idea of finding a mate. Mainly because I’m away most times on business deals for alpha or I’m helping the warriors track down rogues or hunters. But when I found her I was overjoyed mostly because I know once I’m away she’d be protected.

We pulled up outside her parents house and I saw my two idiot buddies standing with their arms folded and little smirks on their faces.

I turned the car off, released her seatbelt and opened her door. We got out at the same time And walked to the front porch.

“How was school?” I asked her.

“It was awesome Tara and I snuck in ice cream and some of the other girls snuck in pizza and some drinks and we had that for lunch.”

She said pulling on my arm bouncing up and down,I patted her on the head and watched as she ran inside.

“Hey guys it worked, all I had to do was pout my lip like you said.” She high fives her idiot brothers before running inside.

I walked over to them and slapped them both to the back of their head. I shook my head and stood beside them.

“We found another one today.” Gabriel said.

“Yea I know I alpha linked me while I was in training. I’m heading there in a bit.” I replied.

“She has the same mark as the others.” Jack said.

“Those rogues are getting braver and braver.” Gabriel said.

“We’ll catch them before they strike again.” I said.

We continued talking a little longer.

“You owe us one.”

“For what?”

“For you being able to see our sister, your mate today.”

I flipped them off and jumped back into my car. Before driving off I shouted “ whenever you're ready.”

Driving in the direction of the pack hospital I had the most disturbing feeling in my gut. I don’t want to see another one of them. It always hurt my heart when I looked them in the eyes.

Their eyes were always filled with fear. It’s as if they didn’t believe that someone they trusted did those things to them. The last girl I saw was completely disoriented and when I did finally get the chance to sit and talk to her she would tell me to stay away.

And that I’m just like the monster. Which I didn’t understand because I’m not a rogue and I don’t hang around she wolves much, out of respect for my mate. Wouldn’t want her thinking I’m a player.

Those days are long over. I hopped out of the car and headed into the hospital. The doctor and nurse directed me to young Kat's room.

She was sitting on the edge of her bed looking out the window, I walked in slowly and stood at a distance.

“Kat it’s me Beta Brandon.”

“Hi.”

“I’ve come to talk to you about what happened.”

“I know.”

“Would you like to start, how about you tell me where the rouges attacked you.”

“Rouges, it wasn’t a rogue who attacked me, it was a monster. He’s a beast, he said that I wanted it.”
