Chapter 433

Author: Flower Sock
Dominic's gaze lingered on Anathea's face for a few more seconds.

But the next second, he met Gregory's indifferent eyes. Dominic looked away and smiled slightly. "Don't be so tense. I'm not interested in someone else's wife."

Gregory looked away, staring at Anathea wordlessly.

"I heard Adam is also in this hospital," Dominic stated.

Gregory nodded, not in the mood to chat with Dominic. He only cared about Anathea, wondering when she would wake up.

Dominic didn't disturb them any further. After casting a fleeting glance at the sleeping Anathea from the corner of his eyes, he turned and left the ward, closing the door behind him.

As soon as he stepped into the hallway, he saw Hannah sitting outside, staring intently at Anathea's ward. Next to her was Chloe, who also looked worried.

He took a long stride and approached them.

When Hannah saw him, she hesitated, as if wanting to say something.

Before she could say anything, Dominic said, "Anathea's condition has stabilized. She's

This time, Anathea's tone was firm beyond doubt. When Gregory heard her say those words again, a chill ran through him.The first time he heard it, he was furious. He thought Anathea was just putting on a show to squeeze more benefits from him.So he tore up the signed divorce papers in front of her, ripping apart her last shred of goodwill toward him.The second time, he almost lost his mind. That bloody scene played over in his mind—the suffocating standoff and their tears blending with blood. It was an image seared deeply into their memories. The third time, Anathea's emotions no longer stirred like before. She had become like a lifeless pool, devoid of any spark. And he was the cause of it all.Gregory found himself unable to speak. A sharp pain hit his chest, making it impossible to speak. However, his hand gripping Anathea's wheelchair tightened until his veins bulged. The first time was anger, the second was madness, and the third was heart-wrenching pain. But no matter

"What?" Xander looked at Anathea with reluctance. "But—"Before he could finish, Martin, ever the observant one, scooped him up. "Mr. Xander, didn't you say you wanted to fly a kite? Mrs. Sinclair Senior has one. Let's go fly it together."The bodyguards exited in turn. Soon, only Anathea and Gregory remained in the hall.Gregory turned to Anathea and asked gently, "Do you feel any better now?"Anathea lifted her eyes and gave him an expressionless glance. "You did this on purpose?"He had purposely brought her here to watch everything.Gregory didn't deny it. He nodded. "Yes. I figured maybe the only way someone could feel a little better is by watching the people who hurt them pay."So however Natalie had treated Anathea, he made sure Anathea saw for herself how he made her pay for every bit of it. Maybe that would ease her pain. At least, that was what he believed. He crouched in front of her and met her gaze with a clumsy but sincere kind of gentleness."This is only the

Anathea didn't say a word.Even though Natalie kneeled before her, bowing her head to admit her fault, Anathea felt neither joy nor satisfaction. Her eyes were calm and still, without a flicker of emotion.Frowning, Louie retorted, "Anathea suffered a miscarriage and massive bleeding, and you think a casual 'it's all my fault' can just make everything right?"If it weren't for this woman's schemes, Anathea wouldn't have gotten hurt. Gregory wouldn't have been severely injured either. Natalie had caused every frustrating incident.Even with her forehead pressed against the floor, Natalie could still feel Gregory's cold, murderous gaze, as if he wanted to tear her apart piece by piece. The moment Eleanor decided to abandon her, she no longer planned to help. Natalie had completely become a lost cause.Natalie shut her bloodshot eyes and choked out, "I'm willing to give up all the resources and assets I have connected to the Sinclair family. Is that enough?"Louie scoffed. "Those

Back when Natalie was at the welfare home, whenever a couple came looking to adopt, she would do everything she could to stand out and be chosen. She tried her best to show them the most well-behaved and capable version of herself, hoping they would take a liking to her and adopt her. That way, she could escape that place where she couldn't even get enough to eat and was often bullied and looked down on by the other kids. But no matter how hard she tried to be her best, the couples looked at her with the same cold expression. They didn't want to adopt her. They didn't want her at all.And now, Eleanor's gaze was exactly the same."Because your mother had abandoned you.""Do you believe that she'll abandon you again this time just to save herself?"Gregory's words echoed in Natalie's mind, sending a cold chill rushing from her legs to her spine and up to her scalp. No!Natalie's body trembled uncontrollably. She struggled with all her might and broke free from the bodyguards w

As Anathea stared at Xander, surprise flickered in her eyes.Natalie stumbled and fell to the floor, shaking her head desperately at Eleanor. It was as if she was telling her that she really didn't push Anathea."You're lying!" Eleanor shoved Xander away so hard he nearly fell.Martin caught him just in time, but the sudden movement made Xander burst into tears. "Grandma's so scary! It was Ms. Whitman who pushed Mom—""Shut up!" Eleanor's finger jabbed sharply at Xander's nose, her nails nearly scratching him. "You little liar! Who told you to say that? It must've been Anathea, right?""No one did! I saw it with my own eyes!" Xander rebuked while crying."On that day, Mr. Xander was flying a kite in Ms. Eleanor's yard the whole time. He couldn't have run into Ms. Anathea," Martin said, pulling out a broken kite with its string snapped."The kite snapped and fell, so Mr. Xander went looking for it. That's when he happened to walk into the attic and saw Natalie and Ms. Anathea arg

Eleanor quickly caught on and softened her expression to soothe Xander. "Xander, don't cry. I'm here. Nobody's going to hurt you, okay? You don't have to be scared."Gradually, Xander calmed down and buried his face in Eleanor's embrace. As Anathea watched him behave so well in front of Eleanor, her gaze dropped.Of course. Xander had been raised by Eleanor for five years. Day after day, his loyalty had completely shifted to her. That was why he felt distant from Anathea. This was exactly Eleanor's plan all along. She knew Gregory's flaws. He was never one for fatherly affection. So all she had to do was get rid of Anathea. She wanted Xander to turn against Anathea and side with her and Natalie so she could finally drive Anathea out of the Sinclair family.Anathea turned her head away, refusing to look at Xander. He had sworn he would protect her, but now he had thrown himself into Eleanor's arms like it meant nothing.Promises from kids, just like those from adults, were meanin
