"How well did you sleep here at the VetClinic?" Chester asked me.

I briefly glanced at him while I cleaned up the mess on the table, and he carefully administered insulin to Getty, a female Pomeranian with diabetes mellitus. Getty was taken care of by Manang Adel, one of the oldest residents in Agoncillo, Batangas. She owned the repair shops in our area.

"Boss, I slept quite well because there are no ghosts," I joked, making him laugh.

The truth is, I almost lost my wits last night when I thought I heard strange noises at Chester's VetClinic. I was about to go to sleep when I heard those sounds. I even thought there might be a burglar inside, but it turned out that one of the dogs had escaped from its kennel.

Chester usually took in animals left at the VetClinic, and their owners often picked them up the next day. Some of them couldn't make it sooner due to work commitments. Chester also adopted abandoned animals and, whenever possible, we tried to find suitable adoptive families f
