Ember(As Ash) POV

The moment I stepped out of Magnus’s chamber, my stomach was a knot of fire and ice. His voice still crawled in my skull, slick and venomous, the weight of his words pressing against my bones. Poison. He wanted me to poison Zane. Slowly, quietly, until the wolf I loved turned weak enough to break. Every step down the hall scraped like glass under my skin, but I couldn’t falter. Ash couldn’t falter. My back had to stay straight, my head bowed, my face carved into obedience. Inside, though, I was shaking. Rage threatened to tear my skin apart, my wolf clawing at the walls of my chest, begging to rip his throat out.

I made it back under cover of night, my palms still damp. Zane’s door opened at my knock before I even breathed his name. He knew it was me. He always did. His gaze cut into me instantly, sharp and knowing. He saw the stiffness in my shoulders, the tremor I couldn’t hide in my fingers. He closed the door before I even spoke, his body blocking out the world.

  • Wild Nights With My Lycan Step-brother    0115 - A Signal

Ember (As Ash) POVThe roar still hung thick in the air, ringing out through the courtyard like a loud, untamed thunder, literally shaking the floors and stone walls, the spears in the grip of the warriors rattling from the impact. Bells clanged loudly, their balls clattering in the metals, the thick, almost suffocating scent of smoke wafted into the building, then into my nose, making it impossible to take a breath. In order to follow Magnus's orders, the guards ignored the commotion and scurried off, Magnus's voice booming through the chaos, ordering the guards into lines even when panic gnawed deep in their chests. Kaela seemed calm amidst the chaos, her moments smooth and precise, as she walked around like a predator who has singlehandedly caused the storm and as usual, these dark, preying eyes of hers never left my skin, not even when the smoke rose thick in the air. I could literally feel her stares clawing its way deep into my skin, more heavy and painful than the relic clu

  • Wild Nights With My Lycan Step-brother    0114 - Prove It!

Ember (As Ash) POVKaela’s blade glinted when it caught the torchlight, so close I could feel the breath of steel on my throat. She smiled as if she already knew the answer to a question I hadn’t given her yet, her eyes bright with that cruel amusement I hated. “Tell me who you are,” she purred, slow and sharp, like she had all night to cut me open and find what lived underneath. The relic pulsed hard against my palm, a beat that hurt more than it helped. I tasted copper in my mouth, remembered the blood-smeared scrap of Zane’s handwriting and the way it had burned me alive with hope. I thought of him shackled somewhere under stone, fighting still, waiting for me. The thought steadied me, tightened my throat until the only answer I could give came out raw. “I’m Ash.”Her smile widened, but she didn’t move the blade. She leaned closer, so close I smelled the sweet rot of her perfume, so close I felt the heat of her body through the thin gap between us. She wanted to toy with me, wanted

The blood on Zane’s sheets was still wet when I touched it. My hands shook, but I pressed my fingers harder into the stain, as if I could wring him out of it, as if I could drag him back just by holding on. The shattered window gaped open, the night wind howling in like laughter. The voice that had spoken a moment ago—low, sharp, promising ruin—was gone, leaving only silence and my pulse crashing in my ears. My chest was too tight, every breath like a knife. My prince. Gone.I stumbled to the window, claws of panic raking through me. My disguise, my mask, everything I had built to stay hidden nearly split apart when I caught the faintest trace of blood on the stone ledge. His blood. I gripped the frame so hard it cut my palms, my voice cracking before I could stop it. “No… not him.” The words were raw, breaking. I forced my throat closed, swallowing hard until it hurt. Anyone could walk in. Anyone could hear. Ash couldn’t fall apart. Ash couldn’t love a prince.Boots pounded the corri

  • Wild Nights With My Lycan Step-brother    0112 - Zane Is Kidnapped

Ember (As Ash) POVThe chamber shook with power, the relic’s pulse throbbing in my grip like a second heartbeat. Its runes crawled against my skin, burning into my palm, drinking from me. Magnus’s eyes locked on the blade, his fury a storm pressed into silence. His voice came hard and cutting, no room for argument. “Give me the dagger, Ash.”Before I could even move, Zane stepped between us, his body a wall of steel, his eyes faintly glowing red. His hand went to his sword, his voice calm but edged like a blade. “He’s under my protection.”The witch’s laugh rippled through the chamber, mocking, cold. She tilted her head as though admiring a painting, her shadows stretching wider with each breath. “Oh, what a family portrait. King, heir, guard, and me. So much power, so little trust.”I couldn’t breathe. My chest ached with the weight of choice, each option cutting me in half. If I handed the relic to Magnus, I chained myself to him forever. If I betrayed him and gave it to the witch,

  • Wild Nights With My Lycan Step-brother    0111- The Witch's Bargain

Ember (As Ash) POVThe witch didn’t flinch when fire hissed at my fingertips. Her shadow bled across the doorway, stretching long and unnatural, her voice smooth as poison poured into wine. “Ash,” she said, savoring the name like it was a lie she’d already unwrapped, “you wear a mask well. But fire always leaks through the cracks.”My jaw locked. I forced the glove back over my burning palm, smothering the rune’s glow. “I don’t know what you mean.”Her smile was patient, indulgent, like a cat toying with a bird. “You will.”She stepped into the room, slow, deliberate, the circle of her skirts whispering over stone. The smell of smoke clung to her, sharp and bitter. My chest stayed tight. One wrong twitch and she’d have me on my knees before I could breathe flame. She had already seen too much.“Secrets,” she said softly, her eyes cutting into me, “are currency. Yours could buy me kingdoms. I could sell them now—tell Magnus, whisper it into Kaela’s eager ear—and watch your little disgu

  • Wild Nights With My Lycan Step-brother    0110 - Ash's Trial

Ember (As Ash) POVThe hall stank of incense and sweat. Dawn’s first light bled through the tall windows, streaking across the marble where the witch’s circle was carved deep into the stone, its lines writhing like living things. Nobles pressed shoulder to shoulder, their silks rustling, their whispers buzzing sharp as flies over carrion. The air was fever-hot, anticipation heavy enough to choke. Chains weighed on my wrists and ankles, biting cold against my skin. They rattled with every step, a performance of weakness I could have broken in an instant if I dared unleash my fire. But that was the point, wasn’t it? Magnus wanted me bound. Wanted me displayed. Wanted the world to watch Ash stripped bare.He sat high on his throne, a cruel smile playing at his lips as he lifted his hand. The noise fell like a blade had cut it. His voice carried, smooth, booming, dripping power. “Today, truth itself shall strip away lies. Let none claim loyalty without proof.”His gaze landed on me, and m
