MAX

Thank goodness I was able to divert Noah's attention away from the truth; her gaze was becoming more intense, and she was looking at me with interest.

The paperwork I had discussed with Nick and Lion was not related to school; instead, we had been indirectly discussing the race tonight.

The contest was scheduled to take place in a large arena with a large crowd. Tickets are available to adults, teens, and anyone who can afford them.

Cars swirled at a three-sixty-degree angle on the hard ground as the smell of alcohol and sweat lingered in the air. The music from the speaker is echoing in the air.

Everyone was looking forward to tonight, and Ronnie was finally here after being detained in prison for a year.

My car, a red Chevrolet Corvette, blared to life as I drove into the crowd, and everyone chanted my name. All I could hear was "Max, Max, Max."

Nick leaned into my driver's window to give me advice on how to maneuver my opponent, Carlo.

NOAHThe voices became louder as my internal demon began to resurface, bringing back to life every scratch, every hidden closet, and everything I had tried to leave behind. They all came up, each demanding control over the others. The tears flowed endlessly, and no matter how hard I closed my ears, the noises would not stop.A hand was wrapped around my wrist, but I was too scared to look up, lest my worst nightmare come true, because when he did, even the most secure door could not contain his rage. The hand tugged harder, and I decided to confront my fears. I wasn’t eight anymore, and for the first time, I looked up into his eyes, but they weren't bloodshot anymore; they were warm and appealing ... and the faces…Why did it keep changing…?I just stared, but he was saying something, a warning, but I could not hear it clearly; he had never spoken so calmly while issuing orders or demonstrating them in action, but he was right now."Noah, please listen to me," the voice said. But my e

NOAH I am the boss and absolutely unbeatable behind the wheel. The cars sped up at high velocity, and as expected, Ronnie was a pro at driving; he dove into each turn, taking swift swings when necessary.I lunged forward, meeting Ronnie at the same pace; our gazes locked, and I blew him a chef's kiss for attempting to underestimate me.But Ronnie was not one to take a challenge lightly, so he shook his wheel rightwards, causing a collision with Max's vehicle."Hey!" I yelled, clutching the wheels tightly. If he managed to push me off the track, the car could spin and anything could happen. "What are you doing?"He pushed his car into mine a second time, but I managed to avoid the collision, and for the first time I realized what a psychopath Ronnie truly was. If he could risk my life for a few dollars, he might as well spend the rest of his days in prison. He made three more attempts, then a fourth, but I avoided them all. We made a dead turn, and I was cautious not to apply the brak

MAXNoah was not always like this; something had changed, and those changes sparked something inside of me.From her smile to the way her long neck was displayed, everything was different… Or perhaps it was my reaction to her actions that changed.“You have no right to touch me,” she protested, and with every twitch of her lip, every body movement, I wanted nothing more than to kiss her till the only word she remembered was my name and…I did.I wrapped my hands around her back and lifted her onto the bonnet of my car."Max, what…" she was saying before my lips met hers. Hers were soft like stuffed pillows, she protested, hitting my chest, but as my lips delved deeper, her fist went limp, replaced by a hand clutching tightly to my jacket.Everything came to a halt at that point; only Noah was important, and the kiss was blissful, reminding us that the forbidden was always the sweetest. She had a strong taste of wine as well as temptation. Her lips parted open, allowing my tongue to exp

NOAH "I have warned you to stay out of my way," Max says, pointing at my face. He lowers her hand and wraps his arms around her midsection.“Scared that I would hit her back and maybe create a scar,” I taunted, and the girl, Nelly, looked at Max and me in surprise. It was the audacity for her."You better be," I said, turning away from them and walking into the school hallway. The other students kept their gazes fixed on me. It was obvious that no one had ever challenged Nelly before; talk more about Max."Do you know each other?" she asked from behind me, but Max dismissed the question.Max's graduation is in two weeks, and since I fulfilled my end of the deal, he should do the same for mine. I could hardly wait for him to leave.Taking my phone, I scrolled through the photos he had taken of us; it had recently become my latest addiction, and deep down I craved more of it. The kiss was unlike anything I had ever experienced before, and it made me smile.Evans hasn't received any ima

NOAH Tears stung my eyes at that moment, threatening to spill. I knew Max was bad and arrogant, but I did not expect him to go so low. Or was I deceiving myself? Even though all of the pieces were right in front of me, actions spoke louder than looks. But I held my restraint, blinking rapidly just to push the tears back; there was no way he was going to see me cry… Never. He took my right hand and brought it to his cheeks, palm flat. I rolled my eyes, trying to understand the passionate gesture."What are you doing?" I inquired, attempting to pull away."Nothing happened," he said, swirling me around until I was facing the door. "I was only teasing you."Our parents entered at that time, and I knew why he had switched in the facade; he didn't want his father overhearing this type of conversation, and neither did I want my mother to—she might as well grant me an early death.I was always the daughter who never missed an opportunity to embarrass her, and I was not ready to add to that
