~ TRISTAN ~
I watched Hazel as she dressed up for work, speaking to someone over the phone. “Yes… no, not like that… yes… no… okay… you know what? Never mind, I’ll be there soon… bye.” She finally dropped the phone, pulling the zipper of her skirt up and tied her long dark brown hair into a ponytail. I resumed typing away on my laptop to finalize the work I had to do before leaving for the office. “Hey Tristan, I’m leaving now.” She announced and grabbed her bag. “Okay,” I replied, trying to hide my pain— the pain from missing her too much. She stared at me with squinted eyes and opened her mouth to say something but was interrupted by a call from her phone once again. Checking the screen of her phone, she said a quick “goodbye” before heading out while speaking to whoever it was over the phone. I let out a sA/N: Heyo. An update. I’ll upload another chapter or two today. Don’t forget to let me know your thoughts on this chapter and this book in the comment section. By the way, sorry for the long update break. I was stuck with an annoying mental-disturbing writer’s block, lol, but I think I’m back now. Hallelujah!😄😂 Bye. I served Tristan’s breakfast to the tray and carried it to our bedroom. Tristan was frowning as he struggled to wear his tie, muttering complaints to himself. With a smile on, I dropped the tray on the table and sauntered to him, grabbing his tie. “I’ll help you out with that.” “Oh. So you’re still here?” He asked coldly, taking his tie from my grip. “I can do this myself.” “Tristan, don’t act like this, please. I apologize for not spending enough time with you; there’s just been a lot of work to do at the restaurant, and I was too occupied.” “Too occupied to even spare time for anyone else?” He asked, almost rolling his eyes. “Are you kidding me? I didn’t even have the time to spare for myself. I’ve been way too tired and busy.” “You never listen to me when I’m at least trying to speak to you.” “Are you being
I came out of the bathroom in a robe, rolling my hair into a rough bun before trudging to Tristan, slipping into bed beside him. A staff member brought breakfast for us with two mugs of coffee before he took his leave. Tristan dropped his laptop on the table and took a mug, handing the second mug to me. “Guess what?” He asked, taking a sip from his mug. “What?” “Frank messed up really badly, so all chances of having Mr. Rajeed are back to me.” He smiled. “Really? That’s great! I just knew your effort wasn't going to be a waste.” I grinned, taking a long sip of my coffee, ignoring how it burned my tongue. “Yes. This is going to be so great for us. I'd be able to take a break and have time to travel. If you’d be interested, we can travel together.” He wiggled his eyebrows. “Really?” I beamed. “What country?” “
Guilt was eating me up. If only I had just let Hazel be and not insisted, she'd have been fine. We could've been doing something fun, or she could've been cooking happily or anything else but struggling for her life. A nurse came out of the emergency room. “Will Hazel be fine?” I asked the nurse, holding onto her arm. “Hazel? She’s conscious now. You’ll be able to see her soon.” She smiled and patted my hand before taking her leave. “Wow. Thank goodness!” I sighed, relieved that she was alive. I had been pacing around the hallway of the hospital with no news of her for a few hours now, so this was good testimony. I resumed pacing around the room till I received attention from any other Nurse or a worker, permitting me to see her again. After a while, I was finally called by Doctor Steve to his office. “Good afternoon, Tristan.” He greeted me, indicating that
We stopped walking and my eyes locked with Indy’s anger-filled sky blue eyes. “You! Did you ask them to be this rude to me?” She barked and stormed towards me. “You definitely didn’t listen to me last time because I was nice. Now I’m gonna be crazy about what I want.”A security man wanted to hold her back but I raised a hand to stop him.“What do you mean? Why are you here?” I tried to sound nice, wearing a tired smile.“Are you being serious right now?” She scoffed. “I guess I was being way too patient with you last time.” Her voice was a bit loud and drawing attention.“Let’s have a seat and speak like adults, Indy.” My tiredness was making me even calmer than normal. I sat on one of the chairs around a table and she reluctantly sat on the chair opposite mine.“Get us a drink.” I said to a waiter who nodded and took his leave.&
“You’re finally awake.” Tristan had his gaze fixed on me, enough to brighten my morning with those beautiful electric blue eyes. I nodded, stretching my arms out. The bright ray of light that shone through the window made it obvious that I had slept for a really long time. Good thing I wasn’t going to work today. I sat up straight, stretching my arms and yawning. “I'm sorry for not returning home early last night.” He sighed, shifting closer to me. “I hope you’re fine now and you didn't miss me too much?”“Yes, I’m fine. To be sincere, I didn’t realize you weren’t at home.” I added, smirking at him. “Really?” he gruffed, “and I was so distracted by missing you. Guess I won't be wasting my energy missing you next time.” I laughed, settling on his lap with my legs by his side. “I’m sorry; I was just too tired and went straight to bed. Now that I think of it, I guess I missed you so bad.” I nibbled on my lower lip, tracing my fingers on his face to his lips. “That’s an obvious lie.
“Hey, Tristan. I’m bored.” Nikita said over breakfast. Tristan still ignored her like he had been doing since yesterday. Rising to his feet from the dining chair, he grabbed his suit coat from around his chair and wore it over himself. “Tristan. You’re definitely not going to ignore me forever, right?” She asked, her voice possessing a hint of fear at the possibility. “Hazel, I’ll be back early today. Try to hurry up and work so we can spend time together when you return. Love you. Bye.” He held my shoulders from behind to plant a kiss on my forehead. “Okay. Bye.” He took his leave and I immediately felt his absence around me. From my sideways glance, I could feel Nikita’s gaze fixed on me. I wasn’t interested in her hateful words again, so I didn’t bother to glance at her and continued eating. She still didn’t take her eyes off me and when I was starting to feel uncomfortable, I snapped at her, “what is it?!” She flinched, clearly surprised by my abrupt response. “Hazel, listen
“Tiffany?” I called at the same time Nikita called, “Lucy?!”“Tiffany?” Nikita stared at me, narrowing her eyes at me. “Who's Tiffany?”“It’s so great to finally meet both of you again. Nikita, you’ve grown so much.” Her hand brushed against Nikita’s shoulder. “Don’t touch me.” Nikita rolled her shoulder from Tiffany’s touch, frowning. “What the heck? Why are you back?”“I told you to expect me.” She smirked down at me, lifting an eyebrow. “Why do you look so shocked to see me? At least you can identify me again.” She snickered. The sound of her voice made it seem like my eardrums were being pierced with a blade. “How do you two know each other?” Nikita asked. “Oh, that’s a topic for another day, sweetheart.” She attempted to touch Nikita but her hand was slapped away.“If you dare lay your finger on me again, I promise to burn you alive.” She threatened. “Oh. You're still feisty?’ “Nikita, let's go.” I grabbed Nikita's hand. “You’re leaving already? Oh no, don't do that.” The c
“What’s wrong?” I asked, forgetting our argument. “It was Kye. He said Charlotte fell from the stairs and was bleeding a lot. She’s in the hospital now.”“What? How?” I was confused. It was definitely unexpected. “Oh my gosh. She’s pregnant.” Nikita covered her mouth with her hand like she had just discovered Charlotte’s pregnancy. “Kye must be so scared. I have to leave for the hospital now.” “I’ll come with.” I said. “Me too.” Nikita added. “It's late.”“We'll go with you.” Nikita protested. Tristan didn’t argue any further and hurried to grab his car keys then drove us to the hospital. After Tristan made the formal requirements with the receptionist, we were finally able to meet Kye. He was sitting on the floor, ignoring the presence of the chairs, his face was so pale and he looked frozen till his eyes met Tristan’s which made him jump to his feet. “Kye. What happened? How? Is she fine now?”“She definitely isn’t. She lost a lot of blood. I don't know what to do.” He seem
